You're twenty five percent more likely to die in police custody if you're white according the crime statistics the BBC put up on it's web site. This somewhat flies in the face of the list of names George gave of people who'd died doesn't it?
"the legacy of of slavery is not the same"...The USA IS the legacy of the British and Western European transatlantic slave trade. The Black Caribbean people in the UK have ancestors who WERE enslaved, much the same kmt
Yeah you are right, 👍🏿 and I'm a Black Caribbean, and I live in the UK and I think we wouldn't have been become slaves those times ago if the British Empire wouldn't have use us as their product to sell to the US
That is true in a sense, but the British abolished slavery (and enforced the ban with the West Africa Squadron) about 30 years after American independence. When America won their independence, they won control of the American slave trade, and chose to remain in business. When they finally abolished it, they were also in control of how they went about doing this, and chose the particularly damaging policies that they carried out. I think that was the point, not that the British have no legacy of slavery, just that there are important differences.
@@nickelmouse451 No, let people forget that the British actively intercepted slave ships and freed the slaves on them, and sent them to cities countries they created for freed slaves, in Africa. Don’t let anyone learn any history on the subject.
"The legacy of slavery is not the same" I highkey agree with her as an African, I strongly agree because Britain Empires legacy of slavery is much more advance and broad than America. In fact the British Empire even colonised parts of America, so she's right. The legacy is not the same.
I'm listening. I'm learning. My I'm a dreamer thinking that one day England will be a peaceful society without prejudice of any kind. Dreaming that the peace and healing has started because the dialogue like George is saying is being heard.
@Andrew Lyon I'll read the article you sent. Appreciate it. Maybe given more time to elaborate , George would most likely expand on history. I do think it's important to listen to the contemporary experience of individuals on all sides of the argument.
Me too. That - the legacy of slavery is not the same... Say what? Up until 1770s US was a British colony. The Brit legacy of slavery IS US slavery as well as Caribbean slavery and I expect they dropped a bunch of us off in South America too. She must know that. Why does she say it? WHY
I did the research and I’m fairly certain you fudged the numbers. 40% of blacks are impoverished but that’s dwarfed by a degree of magnitudes more by the other demographics.

When you closed your eyes ... felt that frustration. You articulated yourself and represented so well. Thank you for being the voice of the people ‼️

Well done for keeping your cool George and explaining things so well. I can't believe so many people share her views.
So glad you highlighted this, the amount if ppl that live in la la land Britain.....let me in if its real then 😤

So inspiring, so powerful… and after 3 years, only 31,000 views and 101 comments? That’s the problem right there.

Many do not even acknowledge slavery during colonialism

Well spoken. It is a British issue as well as American.
