When he was giving the explanation for the rocks, I couldn't stop laughing at the thought of this. Someone just finds a bunch of boulders with computers strapped to them. They keep walking and just find more and the next morning the rocks have all moved by magic.

Was 1:54 a deliberate Edward R. Murrow reference? (He was the old TV presenter who would always sign off by saying "Good night and good luck." There's actually a really good movie about him called "Good Night and Good luck.") Anyway, I love the show as always. I realize that you guys have the money to make it a big fancy production, so I really appreciate the choice to keep it so simple. I think it's much more lighthearted and fun that way. Thanks for the quality entertainment!

They should do an alternate version of SciShow Quiz Show where every episode is designed to be a blowout. For example, bring Lindsey Doe on with sex related questions, Jessi from AnimalWonders with animal and animal care questions, Emily Graslie with natural history questions, Katelyn Salem with geology questions, Hank with chemistry questions, etc.. I don't know why, I just feel like that would be really fun/funny.
Possibly a fun fact:
The Dutch semi-scientific name for NaOH (the main component of most bleach) is 'natronloog'. I always assumed this had to do with the Dutch name for the element Na is 'natrium', but this lake Natron thing would explain it as well.
Being a sister-language, it's a similar case in German (with "-lauge" instead of "loog").
The birds were there naturally. At least that's the story behind the petrified birds in petrified trees singing petrified songs written about by Jim Brigger.
This is so great and funny. Got a kinda excited to see Matthew Gaydos too, since I only knew him from that one Dear Hank and John episode (which I thought was pretty great as well)

What makes particles charged?
I mean, if one particle has a positive charge and one has a negative charge, they attract, but why?
What makes an electron negative and what makes a proton positive, and why? Why would a particle in one place be attracted to a particle in another place simply because it has an opposing charge? Where does the energy to move the particles come from? This is doin me a major confuse

Look this one up at Fermilab. I'm pretty sure they have or will have a video on it. They handle a lot of odd quantum and forces related things.
Protons are positive because they think they know it all. Electrons are negative because they are forced to constantly whirl around, alone in the outer reaches, while the protons get to cuddle up nice and cozy at the center; mostly with other protons; and voluptuous neutrons. Or would you believe that they are negative or positive by definition? Just be glad they haven't been saddled with whimsically named attributes like 'color' and 'charm'.
Okay, so don't take this for granted because I'm only starting my freshman year soon, but I'm pretty sure protons and neutrons get their charge according to their alignment of quarks that make them up.
They attract because they have opposites charges; we could've described anything with a positive charge as having a "pony charge" and that wouldn't have made a difference. It's just a description we use to model how particles in our universe interact. There are, I think, 4 different interactions particles can have between each others, and we call them forces. The electromagnetic force being one of them, and affecting particles that have a property we call charge. Charged particles create electromagnetic fields (opposing charges create electromagnetic fields whose field lines go in opposing directions, hence the attraction). The energy responsible for moving the particles is electrical potential energy, which is an energy imparted into a particle by virtue of its position to other charged particles. In essence, we're just describing how our universe behaves using mathematical models, any "why" questions beyond that extend their reach to the metaphysical.

The answer to that question was obvious, because it was the only answer that made sense with the question.
Q: Doves may not look all that remarkable, but these small grain eating birds have a skill that not many other birds do. It's a skill that might make doves some of the only birds that could survive in the weightlessness of space for a while without too much special treatment. What can doves do?
A. Resist cosmic radiation damage
B. Survive without water for months
C. Poop with force
D. Suck down water and swallow it
The key point here is that the question says their special skill helps them survive weightlessness of space, but that's it. Weightlessness does not directly confer a danger to cosmic radiation, dehydration, or immobility. Obviously it's the ability to swallow water in Zero G.
