Just to note, as a Korean-born Canadian here. This particular TV show is geared towards the older generation. They tend to be a bit more reserved when it comes to performances, choosing to applaud at the end. If you watch concerts where there are lots of young people, you would feel a very different atmosphere. So this is a generational thing rather than a cultural thing. Like when Eminem was in Korea, he was so overwhelmed by the audience's energy that he ended up doing a big heart with his arms. So just lay off the old people!
I don’t think people were trying to get on them. They didn’t understand the atmosphere so they spoke up about it. No one is attacking them. But it is mostly older Korean people in the audience.

I admit that the audience are not reacting that big but they are mostly people who probably just got free tickets for this show. Those singers were too broadway and divas for these kind of shows and they seem to focus because all lyrics are in english and many of them don’t know the song. They aren’t hating those divas (except for that two foreigners I don’t know why). Anyway I wish they come again plz let this tragedy end
I need them to record this entire plays soundtrack and release it as an album. This was the best version I’ve heard. It even tops the movie sound track for me.
I don’t see any racism here. You see many people clapping along and you also see the wonder and amazement at their vocals written all over their faces. This is just how some countries are. When Beyonce did the movie with Jennifer Hudson, Beyonce was concerned that some people might think it was about Destiny's Child! LOL!!! Anyway, that musical has been VERY popular for several decades now! So I believe that even the classical music folks in the audience did have some familiarity with Dream Girls. The producers must have thought that their audience would enjoy it for them to have those singers there. From this recording, I don't think that the mics were loud enough for the audience to hear how wonderful the ladies sounded!

for those who think the audiences are racists:
1. this show is mainly targeted to the elders. sometimes they do have idols on the show, but that's not what the show is about. this show's crowd may cheer when their favorite performer is on the stage, but they would mostly clap, not shout woah!! yeah!
2. Dream girls is not that popular in Korea. Some people might know the name, and that beyonce appeared on the movie, but the song and the musical itself is mostly unknown to the mass.
3. it is racist to assume another race is racist. THAT is RACIST. (don't tell me it isn't. racism starts with generalizing and assuming. you can't just go on and say most asians are racists. those who say that r racists. and how do you know most asians are racist? how are you going to define 'most'? just some asians you faced in your life?) please, don't be an obnoxious racist, thnx

There not unamused most people in Korea like to sit down and just silently clap when there watching a performance. They want to be able and hear who is singing

@@KneeGoblin I think Dream Girls came out on Broadway back in the early 1990s. A lot of people said it was about The Supremes. When Beyonce did the movie with Jennifer Hudson, Beyonce was concerned that some people might think it was about Destiny's Child! LOL!!! Anyway, that musical has been VERY popular for several decades now! So I believe that even the classical music folks in the audience did have some familiarity with Dream Girls. The producers must have thought that their audience would enjoy it for them to have those singers there. From this recording, I don't think that the mics were loud enough for the audience to hear how wonderful the ladies sounded!
