Wow!! Thank you for sharing life in our industry. Yes, yes, you are soo right about being based where you live!!! Period!!!!! From my former airline, I was soo glad I was based where I lived plus Chicago was and still is HQ for our company. But I still know people who are senior F/As not on reserve who do commute and they do hold their work schedules. But for new F/As starting out or F/As who have been flying for maybe up to 4 or 5 years still on and off of "reserve" flying with whatever company you are with and getting you to know what Crew Scheduling is doing and handling the F/A staff of your particular airline, it can be hard sometimes working!!! But every company and workers contracts are different. The same is with the Pilots as well. But again you are right it is better to live in your base. Furthermore, many people where they live have second jobs and work those on their off days from flying. Whether just starting out in selling real estate & rent apartments of hotel jobs or retail jobs. And nowadays online jobs so, it helps in those first few years being a Flight Attendant with that extra coins. Yes, I had worked in the hotels in my first few years while having the flying job. It helped!!!😊😊😊

I tell people all the time I see the commuters and they are usually tired because they have to get up a lot earlier than say someone living in base. I always tell new hires to ask questions when you don’t understand something.

@@TravelingGunn I agree with you here on this Saturday 2/17 night!!!! Many of the new F/As from all companies just have to experience commuting. And for those who are more established in their individual work schedules and seniority whether Flight Attendants or Pilots, have their families and home many times in already an affordable city or town and they are not going to give that up. You know as well, it is hard to move kids in good schools in their present city or town. And many time married with a mortgage of a nice house in a less higher taxed city or town is nice to have. It is so many different aspects of life as we become more mature.

In addition to that, you see people who will either just get a crash pad apartment with 2 or more people dealing commuting. But you finally will see at some point a good amount of both F/As and Pilots move to their fully with the family. And you know as well, there are pros and cons to our industry. For me, I was and still am single with no children. And that is fine me fine. But I do laugh a little bit because I did experience one time dating long distance! 😂 Hahaha! I never thought that would happen. But yes, I ated for about 3 1/2 years. Bidding work schedules as I git more senior plus being a Purser helped those schedules as well. And many of days meant that as well but to move to a new base, no! And he my ex-boyfriend was not moving to a cold city! 😂 Hahaha. Los Angeles is mostly warm!! 😂 Hahaha.

Finally, again I agree with you. I take it you are based where you already live.
