Certainly better than telling her son, "Your dad went to the store for milk and cigarettes- and never came back". Deku probably already knows the truth- but he keeps up the lie out of respect for his mom.
I’ve thought about this too and it makes the most sense considering I’m 100% sure she would have been telling Deku’s dad about her fears and concerns. It was more believable to question if AFO or someone else was Deku's father than the real dad even showing up. It would've been a very nice surprise to verify Deku's father in the story. However, my intuition was telling me to not hold my breath...
Most animes have the dad become absent or are rarely seen because that's normal in Japan for fathers to be gone a lot due to work. At least the OG director before it became unending said he would have show up once Ash growth up... and then we know what happen when they saw the pokemon fever explode (lol at least he let people know some of the OG concepts for the OG anime ending.)
That would have been poetic, All for one using Nana's grandson against them, and All Might using All for One's son against him. Could also explain his no quirk, could be like how the brother was thought to have no quirk until he was given one and then it turned out he has the ability to transfer quirks. Could have been like Deku thought to have no Quirk turns out has the ability to steal quirks like All for one. O amplify Quirks so One for all is amplified even further in Deku.
In fairness, he did forget about the UA traitor until someone asked him if anything was ever going to come out of that. I think making him an overseas parent made it easier to just leave him out completely. Someday someone is going to ask Horikoshi about him and that man is going to be kicking himself for not including him.
It just sets the mood that he never had a father figure growing up. His mother works hard for her son to grow up just right she could. I never saw this as a problem. I felt it was best his father was completely out of the picture. Even if they say he is working overseas. It sets the picture of how Deku grew up and why All Might is "father" figure.
Darth Vader, Carrie White and Deku. All 3 of their fathers never showed up, just only mentioned. It gives me ideas that they all share the same father...

Lot's ofmangakas have problems with how they'll end their work. Hardly. You just shit on it because it isn’t 10/10 perfect. This is kinda how people felt after the last 70ish chapters really. I read the ending to see what made it so horrible, and I found nothing.

So for Hitman Reborn. The father also works overseas, but not only does he show up to visit later on. He actually ties in to the plot revolving around his son.
I mean honestly he won the anime deadbeat dad award because even though you have characters like Goku and Jin Freaks at lest they interacted with them even Jin interacted with Gon by using notes in the beginnings and giving him clues which is better then him not knowing you existed in the first place
eh, even though the ending of mha is lackluster, I truly believe it left off an amazing time skip spot in case the mangaka want's to pick it up for a part 2 of getting deku's power back (or actually showing his true power) and dealing with adult life as a superhero... There's soooo much potential left lol.
Well mha was supposed to have like six too eight extra arc's and dekus vigilante arc was supposed to be way longer but the fandom had to threaten the author so you can think them for a rushed ending
Mha is just an example of a story driven series instead of a character driven series except the characters feel like they were made for a character driven story and then it just switches half way through in order to finish the story quicker so everything just feels bland and unsatisfying. Like the characters were abandoned in favour of the story.

Not really. That’d be weird and fans would just be disappointed either way, the hype about “who the father is” was to high, people expect AFO lmao you think a random nobody is going to cut it for the fandom? It’d be the same way if not worse than what people are complaining about now

Unknown to us in Japan saying somebody’s dad works over seas is the American equivalent of dad left to go get milk
Its not. its pretty common for people in japan to work overseas for japanese companies in order to provide for their family. In 2023 around 1,309,000 japanese people were doing this for longer than 3 months, with 751,000 of them being long-term stayers.

I hope horikoshi finishes this loose end in like mha movie or a sequel series something but I hope he gets some time off first because I can’t imagine how exhausted he is
The manga's been done for months, he'll be ok.
@@talon532 it's only been about two months, which isn't a lot considering Shonen Jump mangaka crunches like 8 chapters in that amount of time
If he's exhausted from writing such a miluqtoast ending then he probably doesn't need to write a sequel series.
I get being a mangaka is stressful but come on...

He cares about getting the bag more than the safety of his wife and child. He the only bringing in the cash. 😭
That Joe Jackson line is insane
As an MJ fan, that came outta left field and had me doing a triple take 😂😂😂
Its clear that Deku's dad is just not in his life. And tbf with all the characters and goings on, Im not surprised that Horikoshi forgot about Deku's dad, a character who is only alluded to once at the very start.
"He never abandoned him....." 😮💨riiiiggghhhtttt. He just never found the time to call, write, visit, or check up on him in any shape or form. 🤔 Yeah, that makes perfect sense 👌.
It was more believable to question if AFO or someone else was Deku's father than the real dad even showing up.
It would've been a very nice surprise to verify Deku's father in the story. However, my intuition was telling me to not hold my breath...
Hisashi(Zoro) and Luffy walking around
Deku: Dad?!
Luffy: Zoro, who's this?
Zoro: Welp, gotta run! *Starts running away.*
Nami: Robin bring his ass back here and explain this
Robin: Zoro get back here or else
Zoro: 😒😥
Zoro: i don't know him.....
Izuku: d-dad?😢
Nami and robin: zoro lets have a talk😊

Yeah, "working overseas"
Just wait till he comes back with the milk Izuku, it's just an extended trip
Deku's father working "overseas" is the same as my parents telling me my dog went "to a farm upstate"
I can’t tell you how many times I’ve ranted to my friends about this exact issue
Imagine if he was a background character of thqt MHA movie qhere they went to America 😂😂😂😂
Oop
Most animes have the dad become absent or are rarely seen because that's normal in Japan for fathers to be gone a lot due to work. However I find it hilarious a bunch of side characters have their fathers pop up or get mentioned, but the main character's dad is only mentioned once and Deku never sees him even in the ending. Poor Deku didn't get the Ochako or his milk. 😅
That Joe Jackson reference was an entire foot stomp 😂
Doctor: “your son was born withou-“
Deku’s dad: 🚶💨
Horikoshi dropped the ball since that whole “I forgot there was supposed to be a traitor” be
But there was a traitor. What are you referring to?
@@GunnyMoose666 I know belly button boy was the traitor but that was after Horikoshi forgot for like a bunch of volumes he even stayed himself that he forgot.
That would explain why it felt so random and out of character when it happened in the anime. I mean they had a solid explanation but it still felt weird
@@TheDallasmonsta23 It really did feel like a "Why now?" moment, the whole traitor plot as far as I remember hadn't been brought up since forever and then Aoyama just suddenly reveals it was him. It felt like a quick way for Horikoshi to just get that plot out of the way.
@endeavor3406 yes. Get it out the way is so right. I wish they let it go on a bit longer. It would've had more impact
What I think happened is either. He didn't have time to put anything in.Or this is the one time he genuinely forgot
He forgot the mc's dad? That is like buying a car and forgetting about the "title" or buying a game system and forgetting to buy controllers. Or having a girlfriend and forgetting her birthday.
@@loganshaw4527Well the said MC's dad is clearly not important to the story, so I can see how he would forget. Like if Deku's dad was just some random dude working overseas, it really wouldn't matter much nor impact the story in any way.
Deku's dad has only been mentioned like once in the story, so it would be strange to suddenly put him in the story in anyway, I feel like it just wouldn't fit.
@@yeetusthefetus3465 lol imagine if they forgot naruto's dad? O wait they did that to his dad's clan. His dad alone was so feared he dwarf the fear of all the Uzumaki's clan so naruto had to be named after his mother's side of the family not his father's.
@@loganshaw4527 What does naruto have to do with this? Minato was literally important to story considering he had to stop the kyuubi and his presence impacted kakashi from the start, he isn't just some random guy after all. He impacted the story in a way, unlike deku's dad who was never once shown in the whole entire story and has no impact on it whatsoever. He is just some random guy, so what's the point of showing him, I feel like it would feel too forced to put him in the story out of nowhere. @@yeetusthefetus3465 the quest still stands if naruto was never told at all who the 4th was "as in being stopped and finding out" I said naruto because that is your picture. Hisashi competing with Ging on that gone-to-get-milk attitude and winning.
At least Ging actually shows up in the anime and meets his son again.
Nah, he is competing with Ash/Satoshi dad in Pokemon... At least the OG director before it became unending said he would have show up once Ash growth up... and then we know what happen when they saw the pokemon fever explode (lol at least he let people know some of the OG concepts for the OG anime ending.)
The writer shat all over his manga with that rushed ending
That would have been poetic, All for one using Nana's grandson against them, and All Might using All for One's son against him. Could also explain his no quirk, could be like how the brother was thought to have no quirk until he was given one and then it turned out he has the ability to transfer quirks. Could have been like Deku thought to have no Quirk turns out has the ability to steal quirks like All for one. O amplify Quirks so One for all is amplified even further in Deku.
Fans: I thought we'd meet Deku's dad
Horikoshi: You thought wrong!
I honestly believe his dad is just the prototype deku from his one shot that inspired mha
Bros making the Todoroki Family seem like a Normal Family💀🙏
In fairness, he did forget about the UA traitor until someone asked him if anything was ever going to come out of that. I think making him an overseas parent made it easier to just leave him out completely. Someday someone is going to ask Horikoshi about him and that man is going to be kicking himself for not including him.
Basically Horikoshi is Deku's Dad. He gave birth to the character.😅
Hey dad did you see me on tv
Sorry son i have to help my captain find the one piece
His dad still looking for the fucking milk
Hisahi Midoriya were the friends we made along the way
It just sets the mood that he never had a father figure growing up. His mother works hard for her son to grow up just right she could. I never saw this as a problem. I felt it was best his father was completely out of the picture. Even if they say he is working overseas. It sets the picture of how Deku grew up and why All Might is "father" figure.
This woman went on a Sausage Rampage. Dead beat dads are a gynocentric myth
To be honest, Deku’s dad was so disconnected from the plot that by the time we got to the Vigilante Deku arc I stopped caring about him at all
His dad still hasn’t come home with the milk
He’s working to buy the milk
That must be some dann rare Milk If He hasnt baught it after the eight years timeskip

Darth Vader, Carrie White and Deku. All 3 of their fathers never showed up, just only mentioned. It gives me ideas that they all share the same father...
It’s like Pokemon Fans waiting for Ash’s Dad to show up, NEVER HAPPENED!!!
The author fumbled the bag at the ending so badly it's actually impressive 😂
Pretty sure after getting severly depressed, having one of the worst jobs ever and getting death threats just had him do an ending, no matter how much it sucked. If you look at his previous works they start out very similar but end very differently and bnha ends very: nothing changes everything sucks but we all pretend it is better now.
Lot's ofmangakas have problems with how they'll end their work.
Heres some famous mangas that had a "bad/lazy/rushed ending":
Gantz
Ichigo 100%
Haganai
Prison School
Tokyo Ghoul
Food Wars
Dr. Stone
Usagi Drop
Those are just from the top of my head, and when i say it it's not even about "my opinion" but a general consensus, its sad when a great work who's slowly connecting all the dots and somehow manages to end too fast out of the blue or has the most random final outcome.
he legithad no idea how popular it had become outside of Japan either
Hardly. You just shit on it because it isn’t 10/10 perfect. This is kinda how people felt after the last 70ish chapters really. I read the ending to see what made it so horrible, and I found nothing.
@@digimonlover1632 You read 430 chapters of: the entire hero system is horrible and enables people like Endevour to abuse it, read the ending that made the exact hero system just worse and thought: nothing wrong with that?
The entire last ark is Midoria saying he'll save Shigaraki only to murder him.
That joe Jackson line was savage LOL
Nah, him being AFO would have been such a poorly done twist. Horikoshi might have had plans to put him in at some point, but plans change and I feel like it wasn't really a big deal. There were bigger things going on.
Agreed
So much for honesty. Everyone wanted that bit of closure. At least the Ironman suit rocks
Yeah horikoshi admitted that he had completely forgot about dekus dad XD
has anyone seen Katekyo Hitman Reborn? The way they revealed the MC’s father is dope, and lines up with how MHA should have done it.
How did they do it there?
how did they revealed it ? i haven't watched and don't mind the spoilers.
So for Hitman Reborn. The father also works overseas, but not only does he show up to visit later on. He actually ties in to the plot revolving around his son.
@@aishalee4572 !!! That's so cool !!
The father is also one of the strongest. No top 10. But i will say probably top.15
I mean honestly he won the anime deadbeat dad award because even though you have characters like Goku and Jin Freaks at lest they interacted with them even Jin interacted with Gon by using notes in the beginnings and giving him clues which is better then him not knowing you existed in the first place
Man said Freaks
"hey, isnt that your son fighting a Monster over in Japan?"
"No never Seen him" *switched TV Channel so some random Show* "yeah, that Guy is my son"
All this time, deku's dad use an english name overseas, I believe it was John Cena 😂
eh, even though the ending of mha is lackluster, I truly believe it left off an amazing time skip spot in case the mangaka want's to pick it up for a part 2 of getting deku's power back (or actually showing his true power) and dealing with adult life as a superhero... There's soooo much potential left lol.
Pro pops been a deadbeat for 12 years😭 bro ain’t been around since bakugo pushed deku in the river
Crazy how both the MHA and JJK endings seemed so rushed, given we never saw a ton of things that were expected in both of them
The culling game rule stopped existing and we didn't get to see Deku's dad so yea you're right...
Well mha was supposed to have like six too eight extra arc's and dekus vigilante arc was supposed to be way longer but the fandom had to threaten the author so you can think them for a rushed ending
@@itzwillyboy2377 True I do blame the fandom for the rushed ending
@@itzwillyboy2377how did the fandom make so it’s rushed? I’m just curious
MHA's really wasn't that rushed
My headcanon is that when Deku lost his quirk, his father called him a failure. And like a true asian parent, started comparing him to Bakugo.
Horikoshi can just made a panel/scene like how shanks react to luffy's new bounty lol
Mha is just an example of a story driven series instead of a character driven series except the characters feel like they were made for a character driven story and then it just switches half way through in order to finish the story quicker so everything just feels bland and unsatisfying. Like the characters were abandoned in favour of the story.
Hisashi Midoriya probably looks exactly like Jack from the My Hero One Shot
“A character more of less being wasted completely,”
Well if there was one sentence to sum up the entirety of MHA, here it is.
True
I would laugh if endeavor was dekus father
I was like why wo- ooh god....
Then that means Endeavor is a cheater and Inko is a side piece. Wait, that would explain why Deku has all of that All Might merch and his father doesn't even have a photo in the house of him. 😮
@@dustymuffincop yeah, if we combine this theory, with another one I saw in the comments of this vid about Ujiko stealing Deku's powers, and then the shipping of All Might with Inko.... you get a Really Complex and Amazing Story that would bring Deku, Shoto, & Bakugo all closer together >.>
His dad went to get milk at a higher levellevel... Import & export milk
All for One as Deku's father is still my favorite headcanon, the fanfic about it are GREAT
