Just a thought on kilns without thermo couples. Perhaps a wad of old electric coil strategically placed in the entry ports would glow hot enough to reignite a blow out flame. I am going to add a couple "glow plugs" to mine patterned after your converted kiln. Blast off is about three weeks out for the bisque. Thanks so much for your free teaching.

Thank you for the video! Are you using 1.0lb of clay for both the mortar and pestle or is it for the mortar only? Could you give the dimensions of the pestle- just a general idea? He doesn't glaze them, but does spray them with wood ash before firing. )

The stoneware he uses typically finishes gray, if I recall correctly. You can check his kiln unloading videos to double check.
