Repairing 2x Faulty Gameboy Color Pokemon Games That Will Not Boot

Well, another week, another small selection of faulty bits to get working again.
This week we've a pair of GB games, POkemon Blue and Yellow, neither will boot up or play, so let's getr them on the Blue mat, take them apart and see what we can do about this....

Pokémon Yellow was my first Pokémon game and it will forever hold a place in my heart!! So many memories when these games start up!

The blue wasn't pushing the switch in on the SP properly, that's why it was booting into GBA mode. There's a physical switch that switches mode, since GB/GBC games need 5v, not 3.3v like GBA games. So either a little damage on the blue cart, or your SP switch needs sorting.

those games are not gameboy color games. gold and silver were the first gameboy color pokemon games

A lot of them are, have one in the bench now that the PCB is totally knackered.
Bought some boards from PCBWay and they’re too thick to comfortably slide in a gameboy, not sure what to do, probably order more but less thick and replace the chips again 🤦‍♂️
