Really need Jolly to not point out blocks and what not. A vital part of Connect 4 is one person happening to not notice a win condition, and I dont agree with Jolly affecting that.

Definitely a rough first video for Connect 4, but will likely enjoy future eps with the kinks worked out. Step one should be ask the players: do you know how to play Connect 4? 🤣

Jolly needs to not help them part of the game is to pay attention someone telling you where to block is pretty much cheating they cant pay attention to where the squares are thats their own fault

Agree in principle. For a first time play-through where Dan clearly wasn't marking the board correctly, I was OK with it (normal connect 4 is played with a physical board so there's no question of the layout of the board, it's just a matter of whether you are observant of it or not).
this. i absolutely love the connect 4 idea but paying attention to what plays are open is kinda the whole point. i think they should keep this going though.

The first episode is always rough, especially when the guys don't know how to play connect 4, but it was still a lot of fun. This game has so much potential. Charming Cherry does come up with some fun games. I can't wait for the next one. Great work guys!

BBD needed a Cubs ROTY to win for half the game, but didn't even try to guess cuz he wasn't sure. Instead he just answered a bunch he did know and forced Dan to help him.
What a great new game, mixing both the traditional strategy of Connect Four with random baseball knowledge. Hope to see more of this. Anyways, congrats BBD.

As someone who literally went to grad school because I love games (I studied mathematics) the one problem with this is connect 4 often gets to a point where guessing wrong and not placing a tile is strategically advantageous, so you could end up with a stalemate if neither player can move without giving up a win.
A way to deal with that is to let the opponent allow a spot to be filled on a miss, (maybe with a neutral piece?) just a little wrinkle to iron out
Bbd was out of time for seconds and he still let him lock in an answer that secured him a win.
1) Def agree with many of the comments that Jolly needs to not point out Connect Fours for the players 2) I found the green/pink graphics were not clear/strong enough as a viewer, so it was tough to tell which player was dominating/playing
Picking Braves Cy Young lost Dan the game. He set BBD up with 2 ways to win.
Great concept and entertaining debut! Love that we got Rourke involved. I feel like the timer could be longer / not there at all. It's easy for us to backseat their Connect 4 strategy from behind our screens but I imagine its much harder while trying to think of baseball players and knowing a couple hundred people will be judging you in the comments, the time pressure on top of that seems extra tough. Regular connect 4 doesn't have a timer after all, you're supposed to be able to look around the board and make sure you aren't missing something you need to block. You could just edit out the parts where they're silently considering their next move.
Well I do have issues with this. I did enjoy it. And hope there will be more with the “issues” ironed out.

A vital point of this is also that connect 4 is only 7 across not 8. Very important for blocking strategy

Connect 4 game theory needs some big time help in the studio, and as many have pointed out, Jolly pointing connections out kinda killed the vibe.

There is a huge issue with this game if you don't give wrong answer to the opponent or give the option to double guess after an opponent's wrong answer. If you play connect four well, you want to force your opponent to only have bad options. You don't want to get into a situation where the best play for both players is the get the question wrong.
Agreed. If someone makes an incorrect guess, they should give the opponent an opportunity to steal by guessing for the same square. Then the opponent can guess for any square of their choosing after that.

Da hell. BBD coulda gone for the one row "Double Whammy" as my dad calls it. That's when u got know choice and lose either way. It's CRAZY that they just stacked the first two rounds 💀. But actually, if BBD did Bellinger/Kershaw, Altuve, than he could either choose a Phillies or Tigers MVP (so Rollins and Cobb/Verlander) depending on which one was blocked. But by the way he was playing, I don't think Rourke (or by extension BBD) really know how to play 😂.

rough start but promising game. itd be more ruthless with the time but 1min instead of 30 sec. once their name is in, new clock starts immediately and put the pressure on. for the love of god dont tell them the possibilites!

I think a better way to improve this game is to have an actual game of connect 4 in front of the players, and then allow them to name the players to choose their spot.
You could even incorporate trivia questions into the game, and make the players answer correctly before they drop their piece.
Possibly even have a new board 3D printed for team logos and categories etc etc

I appreciated the Joe Gordon choice. Do any of these three guys know how this game works? The two contestants kept randomly distributing pieces, and Jolly kept complimenting their moves.

It is interesting how Dan definitely hasn't grasped the necessary other side of "the goal of the game is to get four in a row": keeping your opponent from being able to make four in a row.

Dan had so many fairly easy opportunities to screw BBD over by setting up 2 Connect 4s and he just didn't do it lmao. At any point past 9:12 if he did a Phillies Gold Glove (somewhat difficult) and then an Astros MVP (easy) he would have been able to win with just a Astros Cy Young or a Cubs ROTY. If BBD blocked the Astros MVP after Dan placed the Phillies GG, then that would just set Dan up for the win with an Astros Cy Young. Worst case scenario BBD blocks the Cubs ROTY after Dan places the Phillies GG, which gives Dan the opportunity to block BBD's Cubs GG, eliminating 2 of BBD's win opportunities and preserving his own.
