I agree, it'd be a cool balance of finding guys who were good enough hitters to get consistent playing time, but not good enough to avoid whiffing >35% of the time. Also the inevitable "which year did Adam Dunn/Mark Reynolds play for this team" question.
Obligatory “hitting strikeouts” request, since Lucas said it in the video. But I’d also love more WAR drafts. You’d see guys like Andrelton Simmons get drafted and I think that’s fun
Preston Wilson being the 2nd best outfielder is legit insane even if it was at Coors. Also, I've said it before on the NL West drafts and I'll say it again, you can never go wrong with Rich Aurilia in 2001 for any of these
That’s because Tatis is not a great offensive number. He only has 1 real standout season and has only played more than 100 games twice in his career. Ryan is smart enough to know there’s much better SS
As soon as Jolly said 2000 for Larry Walker, my answer was "D'OH!" He was the first position player I drafted in fantasy ball that year, and the injuries killed me. Even when he was healthy, he was a mere shadow of himself. Larry Walker 2000 and Roger Clemens 1995 remain my worst fantasy picks ever when you look at what they did in the years leading up.
NL West... now you're talking my language. Of course, I came up with all my Rockies and a few Dodgers. But I (like you) totally spaced on Mookie!!? WTF? LOL I had thought of Soto earlier in the game but for some reason I thought he was already taken. HAHA - this was the best espisode.
I quit commenting about hitting strikeouts because I did it on like ten of the early videos and figured it was getting to be a bit much but I’m back to say please please please do it, the name pulls would be absolutely hilarious. I appreciate you Lucas for reading the comments!
Ever thought about trying a draft where you want to end up with the highest team batting average? You would draft players (with a minimum career PA qualifier), and then average out your team's career averages (unweighted) to see who has the highest batting team.
Could someone theoretically play defense by picking good players but wrong years. Which would eliminate good options for other players. For example could someone have picked Barry bonds but deliberately pick a wrong year when he’s on the pirates or something and then that would eliminate him as a guess for the rest of the game.
What is happening to Dalton? Ginger hair and now hippie/surfer necklace and a wild-ass, glow-in-the-dark shirt.... what is happening? He's too young for a mid-life crisis? *phew*
How about an ERA draft, but the winner is obviously the guy with the lowest combined ERA. To make things extra difficult for Lucas, you can make him calculate based on how many innings each guy pitched as well for a true combined ERA.
Just a pure Earned Runs draft would be interesting. If a guy is too bad, he's not gonna get a lot of opportunities. Would need to load up on mediocre pitchers that racked up a lot of work.
As an Old head Padres fan i was thinking Greg Vaughn in 98, he finished 4th in MVP they made the World Series he had 50 Solo RBIs (HRs the padres record.) Looked it up he had 119 that season more than a few picks in the outfield and not Barry Bonds XD
Hitting strikeouts draft would actually be so fun honestly
Mark Reynolds a golden pick
I agree, it'd be a cool balance of finding guys who were good enough hitters to get consistent playing time, but not good enough to avoid whiffing >35% of the time. Also the inevitable "which year did Adam Dunn/Mark Reynolds play for this team" question.
I agree
Yes, I also want HBP
2023 schwarber
WHY DIDNT YOU TAKE BARRY BONDS
gentleman's agreement
@dakodahuber Nailed it lmao
@@mistaman580 Gentleman's agreement to not take like the number 4 answer is pretty goofy
@@Il_Exile_lI these games are for fun, I doubt they care
More fun Edit: Also all of us are morons and didn’t get you were doing this 1:05 😂 Granted I commented before watching this part.
Jolly is the KING of throwing these games lol
Obligatory “hitting strikeouts” request, since Lucas said it in the video. But I’d also love more WAR drafts. You’d see guys like Andrelton Simmons get drafted and I think that’s fun
The best trio on JM Baseball. Man, Ryan knows his NL West 👏
Would love the chaos of having to pick pitchers for NL RBIs
Dalton looks like a valet for jet skis.
He looks like an extra in a 1990s action movie.
Would love to see them recreate a baseball themed version of The Chase with Lucas as The Beast against 3 of the office members
ABSOLUTELY OMG THAT WOULD BE SO GOOD
That would be elite
Some dev team needs to give you a contract
That is an awesome idea! I love the format of The Chase, even though I don't care for the US version of the show bungling the execution.
BRO YES
22:28 "I forgot he was a padre". I about died at that!!😂😂
honestly felt
more of this trio is always my request this was incredibly fun
Preston Wilson scoring more RBIs in 2003 than Barry Bonds ever did in a single season is insane.
Can't score RBIs when you're averaging 141 BB and 49 IBB a season after 2000 as a Giant.
Preston Wilson being the 2nd best outfielder is legit insane even if it was at Coors. Also, I've said it before on the NL West drafts and I'll say it again, you can never go wrong with Rich Aurilia in 2001 for any of these
That was one of the best draft videos you guys have done. Very entertaining!
“wHy DiD nOoNe TaKe BoNdS?!???”
ryan not taking fernando for short was shocking
nevermind it saved him i guess
That’s because Tatis is not a great offensive number. He only has 1 real standout season and has only played more than 100 games twice in his career. Ryan is smart enough to know there’s much better SS
Dalton should put this under protest because Fernando Tatis jr did not play enough games to be eligible for the outfield in 2021
I just looked this up too…I was shocked when no one questioned his position eligibility then
Jolly was like the 2016 warriors with that choke
This was an all-timer! Jolly choking those amazing early rounds is too good
Probably the best and most intense draft so far!
9:21 dalton reminded me that i watched yasmany tomas debut at (then) AT&T park several years ago, most random player trivia that i remember witnessing
I very much look forward to these video

love when rockies get good mentions in these vids
One of the most entertaining drafts to date!
Surprised to not see Freeman or Machado taken in the draft either.
When both Dalton and Ryan are in a draft, picking who to cheer for is so insanely difficult (sorry Jolly)
That was awesome. Love watching these three!!!
Manny Machado didn't even get mentioned?
2016 cubs are going to be solid picks for the NL central. Lot of run differential that season and pretty great production from most of their starters
these are the best videos on youtube
These videos are a highlight of my week
No Mookie is horrendous lol
Would’ve been eligible for 2B last year too
Mookie 2023 would have given Dalton the win by 1 RBI
i’m sayinggggg literally had his second best all time career wise with 107
i stopped following baseball in 2012, but these videos are so good that i gotta watch them
You sound like a former alcoholic coming clean
Best episode of the series yet
NL West... now you're talking my language. Of course, I came up with all my Rockies and a few Dodgers. But I (like you) totally spaced on Mookie!!? WTF? LOL I had thought of Soto earlier in the game but for some reason I thought he was already taken. HAHA - this was the best espisode.
I was just waiting for someone to say 2000 Larry Walker and I was not disappointed
This is one of my favorites. They did so well with some curveballs
Best ever draft you done and no change Jolly blowing it
I love the draft videos!
15:55-16:10 is just Lucas killing Dalton for 15 seconds😭
The boys were CRUSHING this one
Love these drafts
Best show on the channel.
I love these vids so much
Ryan Klesko 2001 - 113 RBIs, that was my last pick for Dalton
Klesko paid only 1B for the Friars that season so he couldn't use him.
OMG that ending, down to a 50/50!
Dalton shopping at Dan Flashes is a great development for 2024
Can we get an all time war draft? Pls jolly. Love the vids.
They already did that.
I quit commenting about hitting strikeouts because I did it on like ten of the early videos and figured it was getting to be a bit much but I’m back to say please please please do it, the name pulls would be absolutely hilarious. I appreciate you Lucas for reading the comments!

"dude you did it again omg i just thought of that"
"Thats kinda hot"
Ayoooo
I thought of shawn green 01 at the exact same time as jolly lmao this was a fun one
Need these drafts more frequently. Once a week isn’t enough .
I find the lack of '01 Rich Aurilia in the NL West drafts disturbing
Indeed and 01 Aruilia at the time and still be the NL record for homers by a shortstop with 37
This was probably the craziest one yet
Jolly tries to pull too much when he should just secure the win 😂
yeah i legit couldn’t believe not one of you said mookie betts 😂😂😂
2021 Tatis was Shortstop, so Dalt should have gotten to pick again.
I don't believe that's correct, almost half his games were started in the OF.
Only 24 games in outfield in '21 -- less than the 25% threshold they've been using.
@@GaryDodgerfan Oh you're right! I completely misread his Bref. My bad. Glad I'm not on Ref Guess.
*PRESTON WILSON*? GOOD LORD
Funniest ending ever hahah RIP Dalt
Omg this one was so fun!
Ever thought about trying a draft where you want to end up with the highest team batting average? You would draft players (with a minimum career PA qualifier), and then average out your team's career averages (unweighted) to see who has the highest batting team.
Def do a series of hitters strikeouts drafts
Could someone theoretically play defense by picking good players but wrong years. Which would eliminate good options for other players. For example could someone have picked Barry bonds but deliberately pick a wrong year when he’s on the pirates or something and then that would eliminate him as a guess for the rest of the game.
Dalton is dressed like the creepiest summer camp counselor at the end of the summer dance.
NLWRBI:
C: 2016 Yasmani Grandal: 72
1B: 2017 Cody Bellinger: 97
2B: 2000 Jeff Kent: 125
SS: 2018 Trevor Story: 108
3B: 2004 Adrian Beltre: 121
OF: 2002 Shawn Green: 114
OF: 2001 Luis Gonzalez: 142
OF: 2000 Steve Finley: 96
DH: 2008 Adrian Gonzalez: 119
Total: 994
You should do pitcher innings
What is happening to Dalton? Ginger hair and now hippie/surfer necklace and a wild-ass, glow-in-the-dark shirt.... what is happening? He's too young for a mid-life crisis? *phew*
having to take a player from each team in the division is a great new addition
Eduardo Escobar 2019 woulda been nasty too eh
Do a 90’s series. Really put your thinking caps on
When I'm in a try not to throw challenge and my opponent is Jolly Olive
It would be fun to throw pitchers into the mix
Nobody using mookie last year at second was wild
Mookie betts is my favorite player. I was screaming at my scream his whole time
Question, technically Dalt couldnt take 21 tatis, he only played 18% in OF. sooooooo should he have gotten a re-guess?
“I said ‘Jolly, can he play baseball?’ And he said ‘who?’”
This was such an amazing draft! 👏
I wanna see one of these videos when you have Jeff Passan and Chris Rose in the office. Would be awesome to see
Shoutout Daltons shirt
It would be fun to do an "earned runs" draft for pitchers where you want the lowest amount of total earned runs
Y’all should do strikeouts as a hitter
It would be funny to do an NL hit draft pre DH rule where your lineup had to have a pitcher that hits.
How about an ERA draft, but the winner is obviously the guy with the lowest combined ERA. To make things extra difficult for Lucas, you can make him calculate based on how many innings each guy pitched as well for a true combined ERA.
That padre shirt is clean
Can’t figure out what chronograph Jolly is wearing. Is that a Breitling?
In classic Mets style, Jolly started off so hot and then completely collapsed
Phil Nevin is a fun name (and had a respectable 126 in 2001)
ERA draft could be interesting. 5 Starters 3 relievers. Similar structure to the strikeout draft. Lowest total ERA wins.
Just a pure Earned Runs draft would be interesting. If a guy is too bad, he's not gonna get a lot of opportunities. Would need to load up on mediocre pitchers that racked up a lot of work.
Saying my catcher pick before the video Russell Martin 07… with 87 checked the reference to make sure
LFG Survivor Legend Jeff Kent!
HOLDS DRAFT, LUCAS!
“I forgot he was a padre”

also Caminiti had 130 in his 96 MVP season XD
Only 2000 and beyond
Jolly is a Met fan through and through.
I think for these, they should have to take 2 from each team, and then the last one can be from any. So its 2,2,2,3.
Forget strikeouts, we want an all time errors draft
All time throw from Happy Grape
Really surprised no one took Machado or Mookie
Exfuckingcuse me, PRESTON WILSON?! Couldn't have pulled his name out of a hat in a million years.
It is absolute cowardice that these NL drafts don't include pitchers. I need to hear "Madison Bumgarner, 15!" and then loud applause.
