    Maybe you can spray the window screens with a pesticide through out the year to combat the spider mites. We do this for bugs in Iowa even the tiny ones don't make it in.

    Love reds and yellows in Phals personally haha, but I definitely agree that it's not the most favorable type of peloric expression. Love the videos!

    The cuthbertsonii is probably a full species, cuthberts are notorious for having extremely wide variations in flower color for a species. Some are red, orange, pink, yellow, magenta, white, bicolor pink/white, bicolor orange/yellow, bicolor any combonation. And this is all found in the wild populations.
    They kinda like temps in the mid-70s and lots of water, or at least mine does...

    some thought about the peloric trait, I don't think it's the genes which are unstable (they are there in the plant's genome no matter what, they don't appear and disappear), it's rather their expression which is, which suggest an epigenetic component (something triggers the plant to activate/express or not the peloric gene(s) ), it would be interesting to find out what parameter does...

    Hey Danny, I adore #3. So pretty. And #5, maybe a new fav for me. Question, did you get the pot for the peloric phal pot from Wish? I was looking at them & was really considering them, but was nervous. I saw your review on other pots from wish, but wondered about those specifically.

    Hi Danny. Those plates would be a terrific idea to your MOG collectables. Perhaps a different dish or mug each month ?? Form a set for eight servings etc and etc.

    Hi Danny. Quick question, if a flower becomes peloric, does it mean that the next time the orchid blooms, it will be peloric as well?

    Hi, what is the medium in the Aeranthes Gradiflora, specifically the round things at the top of the pot. I see them in many of your orchids. What is their purpose? Thanks

    I have the same phal and on a few of the blooms the lower sepals are wonky, one side has a noticeably longer sepal to the other! Must be a trait of this particular hybrid to mutate? These things happen i guess! Love the colours too much to care!

    If I recently repotted my orchid but she’s not looking great and I’m worried about her roots should I try repotting her again, or will that be too stressful?

    I have a white phalaenopsis orchid that is in the dormant strange. I cut the two stems but noticed that one stem is more dried out and yellow/ brown, while the other stem is green. Should I be worried about the dried stem? What should I do?

    • @MissOrchidGirl
      @MissOrchidGirl  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi, Phalaenopsis don't actually have dormant stages, after the flowers fall they start, or should start, growing leaves and roots. The flower stems are supposed to dry no worries, some can last another season, they don't tipycally reflect the health of the orchid :) here is all you need to know about flower spikes th-cam.com/video/epUqdYAiSG0/w-d-xo.html

      @@MissOrchidGirl how u cure fungal diseases??and also how u cure Fusarium affected orchids???

    • @MissOrchidGirl
      @MissOrchidGirl  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I prevent rather than treat and if I need to treat here you go th-cam.com/video/rH0gM0b1YCA/w-d-xo.html as for fusarium I usually either cut the older growths, either I just don't stress the infected ones. Most thrive, some don't, I preffer to prevent spread and maintain hygiene rather than expose myself and others to fungicides.

      d v
      There is a product called Ridomil Gold, or you can use Mancozeb Plus. Cut back the rhizomes or affected parts until you see a lessening of the purple ring. If you can completely cut it out all the better. Soak the orchid in the solution for about an hour (this is what I do). Repot and give a tonic such as a seaweed product. Repeat the application a week to ten days later by just watering the plant with the solution. Hope this helps. If the orchid doesn’t thrive well within a few months throw it out. Also isolate it.

    • @MissOrchidGirl
      @MissOrchidGirl  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      :)))) there is no good answer to that question. Try to stop thinking in terms of 'can I do this, can I do that', you can do whatever you can think of. Think of things in terms of 'how do I do this, or that'. Learn about Maxillaria tenuifolia www.aos.org/orchids/collectors-items/maxillariella-tenuifolia.aspx
