This reminds me of a book called yhe house of the dragon ( not the game of thrones one) where five families compete for a new monarch. The competitors are supposed to be the eldest but something changes and other children get chosen instead. Except the the eldest of one family was raised to compete and cant let her little sister go. So she slits she sisters throat and competes, except ending the sister she loved so much (so much that she calls her little sister her own child at times) haunts her forever
I wrote this super fast, so it’s probably not great but here it is! Who would be crowned ruler when the first born were twins? The older? The stronger? The more intelligent? The more cunning? I looked at the fingers so desperately clinging to the edge of the cliff. There would be only one answer, if only one lived. I didn’t hate her. Not really. I hated the war that started the day we were born. She pleaded to me, no doubt spurred by my hesitation. A face that so resembled my own, begging for her life. It was a haunting sight. Maybe, just maybe, I didn’t have to fight her. Maybe we could figure something out. She must be as tired of the fighting as I am. This could be a first step. An olive branch. I got on all fours to reach down to her. I grabbed her wrist with both hands and began pulling her up. Yet the moment she had proper traction on the cliff top she began to desperately grab at me. Pulling my clothing, pushing with everything she had. I was already overbalanced from lifting her up. I tumbled over. I barely managed to grab hold of the edge, my body smacking into the cliff face from the momentum. Our positions were now switched. I was at her mercy. I could see the demented pleasure in her eyes as she let out a squeal of joy. “Oh sister, you really should’ve taken the opportunity when you had it!” She paused as she stood up and brushed herself off. She moved to loom over me. “Now look where you are” I forced air into my lungs, still recovering from my impact into the wall of dirt of stone. “We don’t have to do this. It doesn’t have to be like this” She let out a thin dry laugh. “You’re a fool if you think I’d believe you.” “I really mean it, we can work something out. I’m sure you’re as tired of the fighting as I am” She reached out with her boot and stepped on one of my hands. Crushing and momentarily trapping it against the stone. “I am tired of the fighting, which is why I’m ending it now” As she lifted her other foot to step on my free hand, I did the only thing I could think of. I let the crushing weight of the shoe already on my fingers hold me, and I reached up and grabbed her ankle. I held onto it so hard I thought my knuckles might burst out of my skin. The next instant, I braced my feet against the cliff face, and shoved off as hard as I could. Pulling her off with me. She screamed as she fell. I didn’t. Falling happens so fast, but an eon must’ve past as I watched the sky. But the cliff was not sheer all the way down. And before I knew it I was tumbling over and over down the steep rocky incline. I bounced off stones and tore through dead branches. I felt bones break. I heard my own cries of agony. Air was forced out of my lungs. I could no longer make sound. My head rang, my vision blurred. But eventually, I stopped rolling. I could barely move my head, the pain was all encompassing. In these agonizing moments I heard airless gasps, as my sister tried to draw in breath. Rage burned within me. Despite the pain that screamed in every inch of my body, I began to lift my head. I felt the broken ribs shift under my skin as I sat up. I could not stand. My right leg was useless. So I crawled. The air had come back to me. In great painful breaths through gritted teeth I used it to push me on. I saw her. Broken on the ground. But still living. She wept in great sobs. Tears and snot poured out of her bleeding face. She lifted a single arm as I drew near. “Please. Please. Please, sister.” The words were garbled and grew more desperate. But I understood them. A stone laid beside her. I took it. Raised it above my head. “Please sister, I love you.” The stone came down and I silenced her. I collapsed beside her body. I had won. I wept. There was no joy in my victory. I don’t even know how I will return to the castle. If I’ll survive through the night. Once I was done weeping, I saw the sun began to lower in the sky. I needed to get back, I could not have done this for nothing. Once again. I began to crawl.

After their parents died, he lured her into the enchanted forest and tried to get rid of her. The magical folks saved her and she found out that she’s the long awaited queen from an old prophecy. Story later on follows her and the rivalry between her and her brother, who tries to destroy the forest aka her kingdom to gain more power.
This song was inspired by Crimson Rivers, a fanfiction in which at one point two brothers (Sirius and Regulus Black from the Harry Potter Marauders Era) are put in the Hunger Games together… this is a pretty fitting scenario for what the song was actually made for lol
