@presgo the bitterne is now running on the watercress line in hampshire. i was going to bring up that paintjob lol. they didnt steam it up? i would have thought it would be mallard that didnt steam up, but it looks like it was. when was this? im guessing while the mallard was still running from the overhaul just before '88?
What are you talking about 4469 Sir Ralph Wedgwood was damaged beyond repair during a Baedeker Blitz air raid on York on the night of 28/29 April 1942.
@97trainman She hasn't had an overhaul in years, and I would think she should have one, they've restored Flying Scotsman more times than I've had hot dinners, and Mallard's just sitting and rusting.
oh sorrry i mean sir nigel gresley, union of south africa will still be in steam but be displayed outside the nrm at york. dominion of canada, dwight d eisenhower and mallard won't be in steam. i mean 4468 not 4469. I wonder why union of south africa is not able to attend
The most important A4 by far - even including 4468. Not just the first, but her first public run was the stuff of legend. Of far more importance than Canada, South Africa, and Bittern herself. The 'big three' preserved A4s should have been Silver Link, Sir Nigel Gresley, and Mallard. Memories of 60014 as she then was, on the scrap line at Doncaster under a light dusting of snow. Ted Hailstone must have been weeping...
The meaning of "being worked" means that she is being restored to her coronation form. My friend sent me a video today in what Dominion of Canada is looking like and I can observe that she is not being steamed.
All that work on the impersonation - but just missed with the rear of the boiler handrail. 2509 was unique in having it straight, and not sloping down at the firebox end!
97trainman too bloody expensive, they are currently busy with other projects, the railway works at Darlington are busy making a p2, they have a channel if you want to see, even James may tries to help
Where did that Silver one come from? There's no way that's the real Silverlink; poor engine was scrapped a long time ago. That has to be Bittern but all the same it's great to know what it would have looked like if she were still here :) The Real Silverlink should've been preserved though R.I.P Silverlink it's great to know the public still misses you :)
Looking forward to 4 in july.

I'm pretty sure Dominion of Canada will be in steam, on the NRM website it says she is being worked on at Shildon

That's correct, they connected a steam pipe from 60007 alongside, to create the impression it was "live"

Apparently, 2509 Silver Link was nearly preserved, but they couldn't raise the money and she fell to the cutters torch.

This is the most depressing thing I've ever readed
@@paulcaswell2813 so if Silver Link was saves, there would be 7 A4s
@@medenicaribovski9089 Not according to the top link crews. The finest of the Scottish engines was No27.
@@medenicaribovski9089 Agreed re Cameron. There's no way that No9 should be treated the she has been recently.
They are going to for it's 75th anniversary next year
1988 I was only 6 years old but I got a chance to ride 60007 on its cab

I've read accounts that the Silver Link here was actually the Bittern after a paint job. Can anyone confirm?
Yes that true
Its where the new display aera is for the flying scotsman
I do not think so. In the uk 60007, 60009 and 60019 will only be in steam. its a reunion. 60010, 60008 and 4469 will not be in steam.

Actually bittern is silver link
Wait really?
@presgo I didn't see a pipe where was it???????
dylan palombo running along the ground
mallard should run again
@smithsj1 it's a shame the real silver link isn't here to see the world as the world is today (TT)
Why won't the museum steam the mallard?
97trainman too bloody expensive, they are currently busy with other projects, the railway works at Darlington are busy making a p2, they have a channel if you want to see, even James may tries to help
He zooms in on it at 0:16
where abouts at the museum is that
whatever happened to 60009 union of south africa?
