    Brilliant Dennis! I have a TLD15 and its the first conventional style reel I have owned. Was always worried about servicing it and taking it apart but your video was great and gave me the confidence to strip it down, clean it all up and rebuild. Clear, concise and to the point. Thank you! keep up the good work.

    I just love watching your videos. I started buying old reels to just clean and or repair with your help. The kids love these old battle axes and are getting more time on the line to boot. Thanks again sir.

    When putting back together is there a way to reverse the direction the reel cranks? I’m looking for a way to convert to a left hand retrieve

    Cheers mate I'm having trouble reassembling my tld15 the dead seems to be engaging toward winding the handle after I serviced it I think I had the same trouble last time but I can't remember how I went about assembling it

      Tim - Can you send a note to my email - 2ndchancetackle@gmail.com to continue this conversation.
      Also, I'm afraid the American English differs from the Australian English as I don't quite understand the problem. If you could explain your meaning of dead or state the problem a different way. I will try my best to help.
      This is usually resolved by repositioning the preset and the lever arm.
      Thank you
      Dennis

    Love your channel ! I didn’t follow your instructions and forgot to take pics .. oops . I have a brass bushing and 4 very small copper spacers in my tld 15 and I cannot figure out where they go ! They are not on any schematic that I can find . The bushing is about an 1/8 of an inch thick and is a little loose fitting on the main shaft . The copper washers are very small , maybe 1/16 of inch wide and are not the copper spacers that are adjacent to the pre load body . Please help !

    Very interesting...
    I’ve a problem with my TLD 15... when I apply the leaver drag the handle gets harder to turn...
    In free spool it’s fine, the drag works fine the handle in free spool turns good?
    Just don’t know the problems.... Help?. Also from across the pond!

    • @2ndChanceTackle
      @2ndChanceTackle  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If your handle is turning in free spool, you do not have the pre-set ramp set properly. Remove the handle and lever again. Position the ramp to where the valleys point to the free spool position and try again - Dennis

    Thanks for the video. I just purchased one of these, so the tutorial will come in handy in the future. I would like to see a tear down of a Daiwa Procyon 2500sh if you run across one. I have one right now that is giving me fits, I cannot figure out how to completely remove the main gear.

    • @2ndChanceTackle
      @2ndChanceTackle  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I don't have one in the shop. Have you removed the main axle shaft that attached to the spool and rides on the oscillating gear? If not, the secondary gear on the main gear, the one that drives the oscillating gear is probably preventing you from fully removing the main gear. There is a channel between the main gear and the secondary gear on the same shaft, where the axle rides. You cannot pull the main gear with the axle inside that channel. I believe you need to remove the axle shaft first - Dennis

    • @ste-bow
      @ste-bow 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      2nd Chance Tackle the secondary gear is definitely what’s catching it. I can’t figure out how to get the main shaft or the stabilizer bar out. Everything but the stabilizer bar is loose, I just can’t get enough clearance. This is my first Daiwa to mess with (usually a Penn/Shimano guy), and I’m sure I’m overlooking something simple.

    • @2ndChanceTackle
      @2ndChanceTackle  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I haven't work on one of these. Is is possible that the axle shaft is pulled out from below as opposed to being removed from the top? Is there a clip above and below the stabilizer bar that can remove it from the shaft? Please send me a close up picture of the lower half of the reel and axle shaft to my email at 2ndchancetackle@gmail.com and I'll see if I can "see" a way. - Dennis

    Hello , I have a question. I have a tld 15 star . Did service, there is a rubbing .its like the gear is rubbing the case . Any suggestions? I took it apart and can’t see any place, any marks where it’s rubbing. One more question. The free spool spring broke . I have changed penn before. I imagine it’s kinda same process? ... ty and hope to hear from you. I follow your videos... all of them!ty very much for them !

      You don't mention which spring failed, but yes, the process is very similar to the Penn Reel rebuilds. Shoot me a note at 2ndchancetackle@gmail.com if you get stuck. Dennis

    Hello I have a question about TLD 25.
    Did you notice that the handle always turn back a bit?
    It doesn't matter if drag is in free or strike position?
    Is that normal or a problem?
    P.S. I just bought my first multiplier reel. Don't have recent experience with thoose type of reels.
    Thanks in advance!

    • @2ndChanceTackle
      @2ndChanceTackle  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That is normal. This reel does not have an instant anti-reverse clutch. It has the older dog style click ratchet. That bit of turning back is what occurs before the dog seats itself in the hold position.
      Thanks for asking
      Dennis

    Hi,Denis,
    after I finish,the brakes can’t lock hardly.
    the brakes work well before I clean it. what problem?
    thankyou very much.

    • @2ndChanceTackle
      @2ndChanceTackle  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      This is usually because the lever arm is not set properly. Remove the preset adjuster knob and the adjuster washer. Set the arm to the left near free spool and then find the points on the bottom of the adjuster washer. Align them to the slots in the lever arm and then tighten down the preset knob. Once those are in alignment, you should be able to increase tension and get the drags to grab when you throw the arm to the right (max drag). If that does not work, you need to take the spool apart and make sure the spring and bearings are in the right order. - Let me know if this helps - Dennis

    • @wongshell4207

    Hey Dennis, I've taken my TLD-15 apart 5 times now but can't seem to get it right. Still just rolling free spool, the little clicker on the main gear keeps falling out. Is that piece supposed to be sitting freely, or is it supposed to be fastened?

    • @2ndChanceTackle
      @2ndChanceTackle  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think you are referring to the anti-reverse dog, which is supposed to be fastened. Nothing in a reel should be floating freely. There is a spring that attaches to the narrow end of the dog. You can see the schematic and order the spring if it is missing from ereplacementparts.com. by following this link www.ereplacementparts.com/shimano-tld15-tld-lever-drag-reel-parts-c-200301_200305_200484.html If that is not what you are asking about, please send a picture of your problem to my email - 2ndchancetackle@gmail.com - thank you - Dennis

  • @otroflores91
    @otroflores91 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    The tlds are proven reels and actually benefit from a carbon drag plate and more washers to bump up the drag strength. Bigger handle helps too.
    I always wanted a tld 5 or 10 to tank out but a good condition one is hard to find. When a good condition does come out it cost almost as much as my Avet Sxj cost.
