- This is going to be the new Pai. Chiang Dao district is located in the Chiang Mai province. I consider Chiang Mai City as my favourite city in Thailand and I'm surprised I've never been here before. It is truly a hidden gem. It definitely has similar vibes as Pai in the north of Thailand. Is this going to be the new Pai?
We've checked out the Chiang Dao hot spring next to a river in the forest. We went up to Chiang Dao Viewpoint and showed you fantastic drone footage of the mountains. Nay from Lana River showed his elephant and his far before we chatted with @yidansfarmlifeinthailand7931 from Yidan'd Farmstay.

Aghh Little Tuscany and the producer of several wines in the area hence the nickname of Chiang Dao. Sad to see the elephant chained there champ. Yidan's Farmstay looks awesome. and it is only the beginning with her future plans. Certainly she's looking at being majority self sufficient there. Glamping cost of 1,200 baht sounds reasonable but short term only. Maybe with the huts you could negotiate a cheaper long term price. The location and the view of those mountains. So so nice. Thankyou champ. Brilliant!! 🤩

For me as a Thai person From my perspective on this place I think the layout of various spaces and the construction of doors, windows, pillars are not typical of northern Thai people. But it looks quite interesting.

I've never seen a duck that doesn't bite! Farm stays are fun, and unique with a baby elephant next door. I hope they do well. Nice of you to give them the exposure, and a nice video for you at the same time.

Hello Chai & lovely Ilona !💖I have been to Chiang Dao a few years ago and it was then very rural and mesmerizing, authentic people with charming welcoming us (my Thai friend was our tour guide) Now i see the beauty of this landscape is still amazing ! The Chinese lady with her project is doing a great work👍🙏....i really hope this place will never end up un-like Pai !

I suggest the spectacular drive through the mountains to Mae Hong Son, the town where wayward princes of Siam were banished in days long gone. Used to be upon arrival in Mae Hong Son, for a small fee you could get a certificate documenting that you had driven the road to get there with some incredible number of mountain switch-backs... I forget now how many. The town it's self has a frontier quality. I'm glad I did the drive and saw the town but I wouldn't do it twice.

The beauty of Chiang Mai is the wider province, not the city itself (alone). Try the Mae Hong Son loop to get a taste for it!

@@crazyjohn4504 haha maybe there is the old Chai who also appreciated the “wanna be hippie” vibes. I’m just a little older now but there was definitely a time before where I also was fitting in the Pai scene from now :p anyway I can see how this town used to be a lot “better” without the mass tourism.
@@Chai_Travel True Champ. I was there in 2019 and didn't vibe at all. Drunks stumbling about and pot smoke pouring out of every cafe. Too bad if you can relax without it. They don't give you a choice anymore.
