I go fundamental baptist church in the Philippines and I found out about CHH a few years ago and the Lord has greatly blessed me by your music. Praise God for this peculiar ministry
Huge respect for Lamp mode. Appreciate and respect the honesty in sharing the personal struggles and achievements within the CHH industry. All Glory to God
praise god that the chopping block was put in an individuals heart, or multiple peoples hearts. Through your, as men of god's conversations, I have been ministered to, and have grown a fire for more information in the word of god. So I just thank god, and you individuals for obeying to the word of god by doing this, thank you, and god bless.
A lot of what you guys are saying really did convict me. As an artist I definitely struggle with pride and wanting MY NAME to be known and seen. Thanks for your transparency and your realness. I pray the Lord would continue to keep you guys and protect you all. God bless.
I am praising God for these brothers.. so encouraging! And the discussion about envy and jealously was something that Holy Spirit taught me too. I had to deactivate my facebook account over a year ago because to guard my own heart from MY OWN weakness and weak flesh that was so prone to compare my lives with others. Tony I am praising God that your health is recovered-you look great! Jehovah Rapha, our God is so great!
Mike was SPOT ON! i love the diversity of lampmode....it's one of the reasons why they are among the FEW record labels i respect, THIS is what Christ wanted, unity amongst His body, love u guys
This video is great & informative on importance of the local church, our gifting being for others & the edifying of the body. Really checking our motives & not fostering "invisible" sin in our hearts. GOD Bless
You brothers are a blessing and refreshing to my soul. I hope and pray other CHH camps are taking their relationship with each other as artist and brothers in Christ as seriously as you men are.
"using Jesus to get my own glory." summed it up perfectly: unfortunately this is the modern state for some of my favourite christian musicians where its no longer about the Gospel, I'll continue to pray for them that Lord do a work in their hearts.
Wow..that's wussup. I was just speaking about this on twitter earlier today. How I feel like I'm seeing that the "Christian" entertainment industry (not just rap) is an industry just like any other. I'm new to the Christian hip-hop music scene so at times it's been hard to discern who is using their art (which is given by God) for God's glory ALONE and who's not. I appreciate this video soooo much. Thank you all!
I just found out about this and I must say: this is absolutely AWESOME!! Lampmode, if you are monitoring these comments please think about extending these conversations beyond the folks at Lampmode. If this is already being done, perhaps shoot us a link to check it out. Also, creation of a website where the public can take part in the conversation would be way cool. Obviously lots of planning would need to take place to keep the talks constructive. Again, this is way cool !!!
new to the CHOPPIN BLOCK... but right off the break feeLin it & LOVIN it...taLk bout REAL TALK for SURE!!! keep addressing every thing you all can for others to Learn from yr calling-
@Hazakim Haha I saw S.O. looking around like huh? when he said that. But thank you guys for this and please do more. Timothy Brindle is such an inspiration to me. Glad he is back.
Its a great discussion that I can even relate to as a human being. Tgis discussion is very insightful and hits some hard fought topics about CHH and where to draw the line. And even past thati can appply ssome of these words of wisdom tonl own life, I still have to guard my own heart from urges of the flesh regarding my job, fashion, even women can be a problem for me. And leaning on God and his word to know when to stop and when to flee.
thanks so much for doing/posting this video! i learned something out of it too! I'm always glad to see other brothers in the faith seeking after God and wanting to honor him above everything else!
Love this! Thanks for your ministry, and including the prayer at the end. Really important. You dudes are vapour in the wind, like me and any other dudes. Grass withers flowers fade, but the Word endures.
I really enjoyed this! This helped me so much, I really needed to hear some of these things. Thank you so much for these brothers! They are like big brothers that I never had.
Love how this into a LOCAL church thing. Just got back from bringing our youth to FOCUS Conference Feat. Shai regarding the love for the Church!! Such a beautiful Bride.
Sad thing is alot of the Gospel artist have now sold out to the world, there is such a thing as spiritual immaturity but after time you expect to see growth but with most "Gospel Artist" these days they are conforming to the world and not to Christ. Even removing Christ from their Lyrics and replacing him with good morals. I am not saying people cant use their testimony but when you see the shift from kats who use to go hard for the Lord now they only sing about good morals and self its saddening. God called us to be separated from the world, though we are among them we are to influence them not the other ways around. Props to Lampmode for keeping it Christ centered cuz these day it is rare.
Problem: The worship of art; it will always produce a counterfeit humility despite of how much we point the finger at pride. You guys are thoughtful and genuine, but God may want to tear your affections toward art away from you. Unless this happens, selfish ambition keeps the keys to the door. Once we can go through that fire of sacrificing art, perhaps our art will emit more glory. To be an ''artist'' is too esteemed to the point we miss out on true joy in spiritual gifts and communion with God. Let yourself actually experience humility. Fight for it to produce real fruit by strategically uprooting the desire to always ''express yourself'' or transmit your identity. Minister to God the things you learn and praise about Him when you hear a beat in your heart . That beat is for Him, not our clever bars.
I guess they could have expanded the topic on the Christian music in every genre since everything they said can be applied for CCM. And I really loved what Shai said about following artists on Twitter and so on, because I used to act like he said, like the envy and the desire to be at their position was high. That's why I've tried not to follow a Christian artist on Twitter since then. And to be honest, the state of CCM (all genres included) is pretty pathetic. We are presented "a sissified-needy Jesus" - like Voddie Baucham said, and it's all about love but not the whole counsel of God is preached through the songs. Musically, it follows the current trend in wordly music (which is a weak one compared to the previous decades imo) but the production is definitely getting better. Anyway, great talk once again, brothers!
Be encouraged brothas, you moving for God and thats all that matters. The artist that have reached main stream media most likely have gained approval by the secular community.
In hip hop styles vary and some people believe it or not understand it alot of people love the art of hip hop it becomes to simple or boring when youre ALWAYS trying yo speak clearly or slow it down. I agree that some artists might not speak clearly but then again its Hip hop where alot of slang and different termanology is used
I think we often misinterpret the nature of the flesh. The flesh is natural and for our good but its desires and its ways are extremely limited thus it MUST be in submission to the renewed mind. This doesnt make OUR spirit what we are led by but we ARE led by God's through a renewed mind.(even as God is not let by His Holy Spirit but by the Father who commands the Son in His triunity). When we understand our triune likeness to God, we are more precise in submission concerning authority.
I've always been puzzled by the christain's attempt to be relevant to the culture by embracing the culture. HH generally and Rap in particular have traditionally stood for "burning, bleedin' and pillaging" (something I remember reading in the Source as a definition.) That being the case, how can you christian's even think of embracing this form of expression in your outreach to the world? Just asking. After all, doesn't your bible say do not be conformed to the world but it sure looks like it.
Glenn Holmes I am 4 yrs late in my response. KRS One and Wu are from different decades 1 and 2 they have never been regarded as founders. History shows that especially in the late 70s early 80s the "elements" were not one big hip hop stew. They were grouped together, by who, I don't even know who does know. Back to your question..let me say this..Paul didn't adopt tent making after following Christ. He was a tent maker that became a Christian. Same thing here. You seem to think these are Christians trying to be something they are not.
I wish these guys were still putting out albums. Theres so much bad Hip-hop that calls itself Christian but is filled with foul language and explicit sensual stuff as well as watered down gospel messages. Lampmode was a golden age of Christian Hip-hop and guys at reach went downhill fast. Wrath and Grace carried on the legacy for a bit but Im not sure if they are putting stuff out. Timothy brindle is still putting stuff out but I know that he is a pastor in a local church praise the Lord!
I have some questions. Who defines "hip-hop"? If I am the author of a book you may have many ideas on what you think ''my book'' is about but if I tell you the meaning of ''my book'' then that is the truth and your idea is not valid. So I said that to say this. The founding fathers of "hip'hop" like KRS One,WuTang etc....pretty much say it is anti Christian! So who is right about the definition? The founders or the followers? Why do Christian Rapers have to adopt hip-hop?
The Bible doesn't agree with The Homosexual lifestyle, I think they approached the situation with love and conveyed that point. There's no getting around that though, majority of religeions (historically) haven't agreed with it. We should def show love to Homosexuals God calls us to, we don't have to agree with thier lifestyles though

Man, give me Reach, Humblebeast, and Lampmode, all great God-fearing men! Those three labels are what Christian Hip Hop should be!
Yer Boy Scott here. Rep, 321 ... Man i love Lamp Mode. Such a breath of fresh air.
Perspective!!! two years latter and its still potent!!!!
A lot of what you guys are saying really did convict me. As an artist I definitely struggle with pride and wanting MY NAME to be known and seen. Thanks for your transparency and your realness. I pray the Lord would continue to keep you guys and protect you all. God bless.
I LOVE THE CHOPPING BLOCK! Better than an talk show! Keep em coming please!

Thankful for these brothers.
The Chopping Block is simply amazing!!!
Great encouragement. Praise God.

Informative, insightful, convicting, and encouraging. Keep it up brothers.

I'm loving this stuff. I want people to chop stuff up like this. Reminds me of ambassador's album "the chop chop"
Thank God for the realness on this video!!
exactly my point the lack of accountability is a BIG problem

LOL Stephen the Levite is a hip hop head for real. I appreciate this guy's art...and perceptions
Some CHHoppers just give their testimony on EVERY SONG. I like when brothers hit me with Scripture

18:15 S.O.'s reaction - classic!
LOL! S.O. was over there looking kind of mad when they were cutting him off.

Chh is a mess in 2017 . It's not the same thing it was back in 2000s . It's turned to selfish.
So true! I have barely listened to anything recently.
This vid ha
Legalistic rap is annoying.
