Thank you for enriching my day in helping to bring out the love and appreciation I have for John McLaughlin's music. Some people really do not get it and I have never really understood why. In close to 40 odd years of listening I have always been able to hear the melody. Although his playing is fast and can be challenging. However, this video has brought enormous clarity into his approach. I recently watched a concert on TH-cam of him performing in the States with Shatki and that was tremendous. Incidently it was a recent concert and John is still in amazing form. I pray that we will still have him for a few more years. Amen.
Thanks Simon, very kind words!... Yeah, John is still playing amazingly well. I saw a video of Shakti the other day also and they were still really tight and John was still playing like he was 20 years ago, incredible stuff, really inspiring. 👍
It's very instructive and fun to watch, even if I'll never be able to play guitar that well (especially at my age). Thanks for sharing. Best regards. André 👍
Thank You ! I really enjoy this video. At some time at your convenience, could you possibly play through McLaughlin's " Power of Love" from the Apocalypse album please ? That would be a joy.......a supreme treat ......to also see some of those runs he did in that selection. Your sharing this exquisite talent is much appreciated.
Thanks mate, appreciated. Maybe in the future. I just do the Mclaughlin stuff usually out of the blue purely out of inspiration and then a video comes from it.👍
Hi Patrick, it's out of print I think, but it is, John McLaughlin Improvisations Mediastarz - transcriptions of the 4 standards from the C.D "Poets and Thieves". You might be able to find a copy secondhand online or Pdf. 👍
