There was the Leyland Bros, Malcolm Douglas, and then Luke from Drifta. Someone needs to sign Luke and Kaito and make a TV show! Great video and I'm provisioning some $$ for a Dot 6 or 7 :)
Nice set ups Luke. One thing puzzles me is everyone who builds a swing out tire carrier fails to take advantage of an obvious feature that spare tire can also become. Why not make the spare tire tilt up horizontal so as to utilize it as an attached bar type table? Put either a hard shell cover over the spare or add a round lightweight plywood board under the soft cover to make a perfect high stool conversation/ drinking/ dining table. Think of the camp mates you'll have sitting on high bar type folding stools with their favorite beverages reminiscing about the days adventure. I am building a trailer of my own here in Texas and my plan is to make a fold out table out of my mounted spare. Although my spare will not be on a swing out carrier, I am making it where it will fold out horizontal to serve as a table. If I've got to carry a spare I may as well take advantage of it for more than one purpose. Imagine the possibilities!
I've got a home built version that uses thick black shade cloth which I doubled over. I then used a 3" border of Ute Tonneau cover material with brass eyelets and attached to frame with zip ties. Rocks and stones haven't pierced it yet but if it did I figured If it only pierced one layer I could darn it together as it's double thickness. All the mud and crap seem to come out with a pressure washer. I didn't mean to be critical of your design it's just looking at it I thought it would create drag and extra fuel consumption as wind passes the vehicle and impacts the rock deflector. I've just not seen anyone else use solid material such as you have and wondered why. Thanks for the reply and explanation. :)
Hello Luke! How are you? Say me please: 1. what is the length of the drawbar of the trailer? 2. drawbar length is the same for all trailers (DOT 5,6,7) ? Hello from Russia! )

I want to be selfish and suggest no, don't get into TV otherwise we won't get these detailed walk-thru videos. :p

Great stuff mate!
wow!!, great jobs.... Saludos desde Chile...
Great stuff Luke. I have a question however: Why the solid vinyl stone guard cover? Wouldn't mesh material cheat the wind/drag better?
