Good morning, everybody. I'm a greek seaman in the middle of the Aegean sea. I've just discovered you, man! You're freaking hilarious! Thanks for your humour!!! Greeks rule!!!! 🇬🇷
Hmm I've experienced this! almost.. Mid 80's I arrive from Greece as a student at Cornell and soon find out that the most wanted pizza restaurant in College Town - Ithaca NY, is owned by Greeks. When the owner discovered that I was Greek and especially one away from home, I always had special treatment, meaning never waiting in line (Fridays and Saturday nights it was a loooong line) and that privilege of skipping the line was extended to everyone in my company. I was to embarrassed to claim my "Greek rights" but the owner would just yell to me to come to the front... 😀😄😀😅
My dear Angelo you are fantastic.I am a Greek Australian ,all the Greeks all over the world have experienced everything that you say.My mum's mame is Tsaroucha and her village is called Vlacherna in Arcadia.Keep on the good work and always be healthy.🇬🇷🇬🇷🇬🇷🇬🇷🇭🇲🇭🇲🇭🇲🇭🇲💗💗💗💗💗
believe me Greece is the worst place for civilised people and the best place for "lamogia"..all good modern Greeks are leaving or they are trying and they cannot escape from that balkan country that its getting worse and worse.
Yeah, same thing happened when I was in France-Grenoble. There there's the Greek restaurant Le Syrtos. The owner is a Cretan like me. When he learned that I was also a Cretan, he gave me a special menu with only Greek-Cretan Souvlaki. Τα φιλιά μας Angelo από την Γαλλία.

@@erichvonmolder9310 Greek restaurants in other countries cater for those countries palates. They are not authentic Greek. As I said I have lived in Greece & know of what I speak. When one orders Greek food in Greece one orders a whole host of things that are shared around the table, that is not so in other countries from my experience.
@@maudeboggins9834 , That goes for any country then. You can't get authentic food (not catering to the tourists) unless you live there. We went to an authentic Italian restaurant in Venice and had 4 courses before the main dish. It was a nice "production" and we enjoyed it very much. Still a Greek Restaurant in Raleigh/Cary is the best we can do. Now I know an authentic Southern NC dinner in Fuquay-Varina at a dive of a restaurant if interested?
@@erichvonmolder9310 Quite true. My mother in law loves to go to Greek Restaurants, so I bite the bullet & eat whatever appeals to me at that moment. But indeed, when my son went to Italy he said himself the food was outstanding, not comparable elsewhere. When my husband & I went to one of the Greek islands for the weekend we would search for Athenian license plates outside of tavernas & eat there as the taverna was feeding Greeks & no tourists. But you do have a point, enjoy what you can where you can. Bon Appetite or Kali Orexi as they say in Greek
The Wild Oats in Princeton was serving me in the most elegant fashion (cf. Chinese elegance) yellow tail and scallion with brown rice (cf. sushi) at an unthinkably affordable price every day I wanted to ask for it freshly prepared. It is really strange that in Tokyo (even walking distance from the imperial palace) this luxury was unthinkable during my tenure in Japan lest in Greece at present.
Can confirm!😅 My dad's family is Macedonian and we used to go to Greektown in Detroit, eat and get all the good groceries. I think it was the Laikon Cafe we were at the table and the Yaya asked us what we wanted so my Baba asked her what was good in Greek. BAM! Right there she had me by the hand (I was maybe 10) and told everyone to follow her and she took us straight to the kitchen. Lifting up the covers on the steam table and saying, What do you want? What do you want? Here, try this. Here, try this. It. Was. GLOOOOO-rious. If you ever leave a Greek restaurant or a Greek house hungry, not only is it your own fault but it's an insult to your host as well.
Tsarouchas in Greek means he is a 'Maker of Tsarouchia / Tsarouxia' Which is a Turkish word (çarık) for sandals ! Greek: τσαρούχι (Tsarouchi); plural: τσαρούχια (Tsarouchia).
i dont believe that serving crap to non-greeks is a Greek trait. If a place serves crap it is not because of racism but because of bad mindset of owner
How do you know that it's funnier if you are Greek??Were you something else in the past and now you are Greek or were you Greek in the past and now you are something else??
@@TaTaKaS He doesn't translate literally everything. At the taking back the menu part the first thing he says is "don't eat these, they're shit, come to the kitchen.

You're right about Lithuanian surnames I noticed that they often sound Greek as they end in "as" or "is"
so true ! kids at school used to tease me that i am Lithuanian cause my surname ends in -onis :DD
Tennis player "Vitas Gerulaitis" 1954 -1994 American born of Lithuanian parents. Could sound greek though
Please can you come to London, UK. We have a large Greek community who all love you.

No Greek restaurants around here in this part of North Carolina, but there are some in Raleigh/Cary, NC.
I would not recommend any Greek restaurants/tavernas outside of Greece. They are nothing like the real thing. I've lived there
