It really in the end comes down to the fact that it is like being a CEO of a big corporation. The CEO has a fiduciary responsibility to increase shareholder value. The grant of rights is the same thing to a certain degree where it essentially creates a corporation that is in charge on increasing the value of the conference for media rights deals. The is that you can say you are adding the California market with Stanford and Cal and the Dallas market with SMU but in the end you are not. Yes SMU is in Texas so there is money backing it but they are not going to compete with the Cowboys for eyeballs in the end so nice to have but there is lots of work to be done. Stanford and Cal now... That is where things really go downhill. If SMU is neutral then the two teams out west our like the never ending abyss you fall into. The reason why they created the PAC12 after dark was to hide teams like Stanford and Cal. Teams with empty stadiums no matter what time of day you play them. They don't really invest much into their programs and are mostly academic institutions that add nothing of value other than they are willing to take less. Add to the fact they consistently will put bad teams on the field and based on the teams they already had in the ACC, these two just make them worse. Not even Oregon St. and Washington St. made a call to them to join forces or ever spoke about them and the ACC did the PAC2 a favour in taking the two basket cases of their hands so they could get full control of the assets. The response from the ACC which does not address anything or dispute anything FSU says is that FSU is bad because they let known that the ACC is dog trash and got to this point by their own doing. Bad FSU, tisk ,tisk! Again they did not refute what FSU claimed in that they were negligent in their fiduciary responsibility to increase the media rights value. Also like in your prenup analogy, usually after the judge see that there is no provision after 10 years for divorce, then the prenup becomes void. This is why you rare see CBA in sports that go 10 not have an opt out clause after 6 or 7 years to reassess market value. This media deal with ESPN allows ESPN to have an option and if they see that they are losing to much money and they will, ESPN has the option to opt out in 2025 or 26 so they are protected and would the ACC even want to opt out if they had a clause. I am telling go search Stanford and Cal attendance and see the horrors. This is what you are getting, zombie programs. www.si.com/college/stanford/football/future-acc-programs-stanford-and-cal-mocked-for-attendance-on-social-media
Well said. Now let me add one other thing. FSU was criticized for its poor strength of schedule. By the ACC, over the very vocal objections by FSU, bringing in the worst teams in the country and forcing FSU to play them thus worsening their SoS, they are deliberately harming FSU and are liable for damages. After FSU leaves, and they will, the value of the ACC will be diminished. When the time comes for ESPN to either renew for another 9 years or simply walk away, they are going to be playing hardball with the eunuchs at the ACC. Then those sorry bottom feeders who voted against unequal revenue sharing to keep their $36m a year are going to be looking back fondly on those days when they are getting $28m a year under the new contract.
@@505premoto Whatever they pay Cal and Stanford is likely to be the price they end up getting if FSU and Miami leave. Football makes the world go round so I don't give a fuck about Duke and UNC or any of the other bullshit football programs. Clemson is so up Dabo's ass they might as well get ready for bottom feeding because they have years of practice. You can tell by how the schedules were release who the one's who are taking it seriously are and what the pecking order is. So fir the B1G and SEC released their schedules and the networks get to pick from premium games people want to see. Now it is the next two and the Big12 just releases theirs at the end of the month. No gimmicks... but the ACC, i thought I was watching Will Ferrell in Semi Pro with this release nonsense. Like just release the schedule. No one gives a fuck about your Thursday and Friday games!!! It's so pathetic. So now it is the Big 2 (SEC, B1G) Next Man Up (BIG12) Semi-Pro (ACC), ND and the rest!
History says you are correct. Why? For many years USC and UCLA had more $ then the other schools ( based on the LA TV market and performance). Then Larry Scott and WSU cooked up the plan to make everyone equal. Come September, look where USC and UCLA will be and look where WSU will be ( talk about Karma). Coddling the likes of BC who is = to WSU ( does 0% for the ACC like WSU and the PAC), will cost the ACC FSU, just like losing USC and UCLA did to the PAC ( even if the ACC survives).
Hm, I was wondering why each Big 12 team has so many BYE weeks for 2024. Easy to slot in new teams. Don't think the "fillers" will include FSU but there are others in the ACC who also might want out (Pitt and Louisville, WVU is calling).
There is a Mecklenburg County in Virginia. There’s also a Charlotte County too. It’s right next to Mecklenburg. Weird, huh? But I knew what you meant. 😊
And that's going to show how grimy the ACC is telling Florida State they can't make any decisions that proves our point

The acc gor is basically a copy of the big12 gor and Texas and Oklahoma left the big12 so it's not iron clad.

Mechlenburg County is not in Virginia. Charlotte is the county seat.

That grab her in p university should pay up and leave! Good riddance! Next conference should beware!
