- Ellen DeGeneres chatted with ET about her decision to come out as a lesbian in both real life and on her sitcom, 'Ellen,' in 1997. The comedian opened up about the instant cultural reaction to 'The Puppy Episode.' ET also caught up with Ellen's pals, Kathy Najimy and Melissa Etheridge, who praised their friend's groundbreaking moment.

Here she was not a bully. Just herself.
I was thinking about this recently and wondered if all the trauma & just crap that happened just made her so angry and hurt. She dealt with so much in the aftermath of coming out: death threats, bomb scares to ABC studios, boycotts, news broadcasts devoted to how terrible gay people are, protestors, etc. And also I feel like a large percentage of celebrities aren't the kindest of people. You have to have some degree of narcissism or tendencies (and all the behaviors that go with that-bullying, rudeness, demanding, etc.) to make it in Hollywood.
@@cocoleexoxo you have to look at it in a professional level. the ellen show is a workplace. a job. she has a lot responsibility . if the ratings go down or thing go wrong on the set she has a lot people that chew her out . not condoning just saying people r human
@@HhhHhhh-nu4lm yeh true, she's probably under lots of pressure. I mean not condoning it either. I bet she also gets tired of people treating her differently and being fake with her. But being a celebrity sounds exhausting!
@@cocoleexoxo it not as great as it sounds. you have a lot fake people in your life. your have to understand ellen show is still job . there a lot pressure to put a show together and boost ratings
@@cocoleexoxo people critising her for being rude to guest then how come david letterman and other get a free pass. also iam sure every tv show or work place has some toxic behavior behind the scenes . work places have deadlines to meet. thing become stressful . let put it this if one the employee make a mistake they have maybe 1 or 2 people breathing down their neck . but one person in management probably has a lot more people breathing down their neck when thing get screwed up in the work place . being in charge has a lot responsibility . Ellen was right when she said she is the nice person you see on tv but she also get stressed too
