I think the point is that in that moment, Rex was more focused on his own dream of reaching Elysium, rather than focusing on how badly damaged he and Pyra/Mythra were. I don't think the scene conveyed it as well as it could've, but Rex doesn't REALLY understand how Pyra/Mythra feel, or even why they want to go to Elysium in the first place. I think that's what Jin was trying to get at.
Plus, the whole reason he wants to get to Elysium in the first place is to find somewhere to live so that everyone can be okay even if all of the Titans die. Even his own "selfish goal" isn't just for himself. Jin is dumb.
Yeah, I don't know how he can ever have trouble with fights being so over leveled. I always came in under leveled and usually was able to clear them without grinding.

Can I just say, major props to Chugga for not putting huge spoilers in the thumbnails of major story parts like this one. There's a lot of opportunities for that in this game and Chugga always manages to find a shot that's more vague, or is only a spoiler if you know the context already. Edit: Regarding the dense fog making crazy things spawn. You REALLY don't want to go to the center of Tantal while it's foggy. Trust me.
He's always good about that. He went through the whole of Xenoblade 1 without a single image or mention of "Seven" in titles or thumbnails, which I think is pretty impressive. Gotta respect that a great deal.
Pogohg I get that, but I've seen a LOT of anime katana wielders in my time, and I never played FF7 as a kid, so I don't immediately associate each and every one of them with Sephiroth. I only started associating 2nd Form Jin with Sephiroth because that's when they started having a matching color scheme.

It's kind of interesting how the Torna members' attitudes relate well with their Blade roles: - Akhos, the Healer, cares a lot for his allies, especially Patroka and Jin (also kind of an Attacker Blade). - Patroka, the Attacker, is the most aggressive of the three. - Mikhail, the Tank, gets a kick out of provoking others.
Honestly one of the best moments of the entire story. This is about the time I really felt like I couldn't stop playing the game and I hope for others it was the same way.
Well, there’s one more hiccup later on that imo can take you out of the scene but other then that, agreed. Next episode will have one of the best scenes in the game for everyone who was in it too.
For me, this was actually the point where I started feeling a bit out-of-it with the story, though I can't exactly place why. Part of it might be because of how ridiculously over-the-top the power-scaling becomes from this point forward, as well as me just not quite understanding what's going through the heads of some of the characters, but I dunno. But I have been getting renewed enjoyment out of the game from watching this LP, so who knows? Maybe it'll click with me more this time around.
I getcha... as a blind viewer... I have no idea how you can defeat an asspull of a power such as speed of light offense. Power scaling is something that can get out of hand and if the enemy's power is too strong, it will feel too convenient to ever defeat them ever again. So unless Jin for some reason will hold back next time, or he randomly switches sides I feel like he'll be THE Deus Ex Diabolus for every situation where you think you have won.

Pyra is emotionally stronger than Mythra. That's why Mythra nopes out of most conversation scenes that don't involve someone she knew before Pyra was created.

I awaken Herald on her for this reason, Opening with a 10-hit(?) Touch-Me-Not and cancelling into Herald's 16-hit level 1 special is a fantastic way to increase the Overdrive gauge and get party meter as well. Alternate Touch-Me-Not and Orge Slam for some high damage and consistently fast Breaks for some extra fun too!
I personally am fine with empty moment, but when jin used heavenly disrupt to bring tora from full to 0, i was shocked. I mean I knew he was powerful but I never saw him use that the first time

I completely forgot how good Rex’s voice was in the last scene. Definitely one of his best moments. A shame everyone shits on him because of the ch. 1 yell and a few other moments. Hell, I think I was too much in shock during the last moment to hear his body making a thud sound at the end titlecard when I first played. Even 3 years later, that scene is still impactful as I remember it when I first played. I’d say this was the XC2 equivalent of a certain area before the endgame of XC1. Oh yeah, and I’m surprised how Emile got through the Torna group fight there. I struggled a lot when I first played.
The whole end scene with Jin transforming, actually defeating the group within an inch of their lives, and seeing the Aegis Sword shatter for the first time made me go “Oh sh-“ because of what had just happened and seeing how powerful Jin really was. Also it’s almost that time again for the second time that this game made me cry.

The sword breaking was amazing because it was set up earlier when Rex said he's never had his sword broken before, despite how difficult some of his previous battles were. The sword breaking now is symbolic of how out of his league he really is.
This is the moment where everything changes. Pyra is gone. Rex has hit rock-bottom. There is no hope. Torna will reach Elysium. To succeed would take a miracle beyond what is known. Next time: The Fear She Carries
36:35 is increasingly becoming one of my favourite musical moments in the game because I'm 99% sure that's Jin's theme we're hearing there, but more importantly, it's one of the more subdued parts of Jin's theme that's now going at full blast. Jin has utterly decimated the party using a side of himself that we've never seen before, and that fact is reflected in the music perfectly. Bravo Mitsuda, seriously.
Looks like torna doesn’t need blades anymore, on the plus side they’re even cooler now with their new abilities, this fight blew me away when I played it. The battle theme only added to it
What I find interesting is the fact Flesh Eaters can apparently be drivers for other blades, I really want to know now and why that is the case but I have a feeling any explanation will involve heavy spoilers.
@@cheskitten7097 It's because they possess human cells in their body. They don't really explain it in game but since flesh eaters can live without a driver due to being fused with a human, it can be assumed they are able to resonate with core crystals because they are part human now.
I believe Chugga mentioned Stunned Swallow was a forced launch. I'm 99% certain that this is only true if you hit him when he's performing the art. For example, if you keep walking and don't attack him at all, you won't get launched.
Can I just point out that how serious chuggaa got when he was fighting Jin for the 2nd time? When he talks about Jin's attacks in a serious way. You know shit has hit the fan.
Yeah, it's a counter art. If you can react to it, all you have to do is stall by walking. I've always found it a bit of a weird art, because the Launch duration isn't much longer than the art duration itself and he can't really even follow-up on it, so Jin barely gets anything out of connecting it. Sure, you might accidentally waste an art on it, but if you've a pouch item that automatically recharges arts, it largely ends up just being beneficial to you instead.

@@conorb.1901 Also, you take a bunch more damage when launched, so if you get launched later in the move and he gets another attack in while you're launched it'll hurt a lot. Good thing he can't attack while he's in the move. And also a good thing that nobody else is there to attack with him. Man, if that were the case, it might just be one of if not the strongest fight in the game.
@@rtg_onefourtwoeightfiveseven he's already an extremely dangerous opponent, Heavenly Disrupt is probably his most dangerous move in my opinion as it does a lot of damage (plus bonus driver combo damage) and if you get hit by it you're on low hp if not dead. Plus he's got high agility and an evasion spike so you take damage for missing him, which you isn't that hard to do
It really captures the pain and suffering he's feeling after **** **** He never wanted to be evil, he was just a broken blade all because he lost his driver and best friend... and all he wanted to do was try bring ----back. But revenge is not the answer... if you think about it, Jin is more like shadow from sonic adventure 2. Both characters having a troubled past and want revenge for all the wrong reasons.
I remember in my playthrough, THIS was the moment I got truly invested in the story. From this point through to the end of the game, the plot majorly steps up.
35:14 Long after this lets play, I started rewatching it in its entirety I had completely forgotten about this moment, where Brighid opens her eyes at seeing Pyra sacrifice herself to keep Rex and the party safe. It's... shocking. It's a minor character trait that has a big impact when the trait is then broken for such an intense scene. It's things like this and her synergy with Morag that make Brighid one of my favorite story blades in terms of character.

I guess we can now conclude that Brighid's eyes aren't just a visual design thing, and she actually has her eyes perpetually closed under normal circumstances. And by extension, we can also conclude that she has sight or can otherwise sense her surroundings with precision, even with her eyes closed.
I always enjoy seeing scenes with Malos. I find it interesting how often he merely plays the observer, even at critical moments. I think there is a part of Malos that never stopped hoping for the moment he would be stopped.
I have been waiting for this specific video. The events in this video made me a diehard XC2 fan and i only beat it in December. I somehow wasnt aware that XC2 was a thing until this LP started and soon after, I bought the game and played slightly ahead of the LP because i wanted to experience the game but was scared of Timed Quests like XC1. When i got to this specific part of the game, i was planning on going to do Wulfric's quest right after i went to the Omega Fetter because the game made it sound like this was urgent. After Pyra got kidnapped however, I blew through the next chapter and ultimately the rest of the game within 48-72 hours real time. I did very few side quests because i wanted to see how this was going to end. The story was interesting up to this point, but this was the moment that i finally was all-in and had no regrets finishing this game instead of playing slightly ahead. I cant thank Emile enough for introducing me to this game as it has become one of my all time favorites
I had a similar story. I was taking my dear sweet time doing sidequests and building up my Rares at the time, but by the time I was done with Tantal I was completely engrossed in the story and forced myself to keep going because I didn't want to stop. There was exactly one sidequest that I did before going into the final dungeon area, and it was specifically for *that* optional Blade that opens up at the start of Chapter 8.
This LP caused me to get the game. I wanted to get to, because the end of Chapter 5 of this LP is when I got it. Chapter 7 then go side-questing. But this game just kept pulling me in chapter after chapter, then the next think you know I’m at the end of the game crying at the end of the game
This. This was the part when this became one of my favourites of all time. The game just keeps getting better from here. Also can I talk about the performances of basically everyone in that scene? You can tell they'd settled into their roles at that point, the delivery is fantastic.
Well, that was certainly unexpected. Remember at the beginning of this chapter when you beat up some innocent chefs and then a giant robot maid? This was not how I expected this chapter of the game to end.
Wow, rewatching the final cutscene after finishing the game as well as Torna, seeing Jin's and Pyra's expressions are just... Man this is truly a beautiful game
After finishing the DLC, you can see that Jin was once a kind hearted and heroic blade until he lost Lora. Now because of that, the only chance left he had was to betray his allies he fought along side with. :Brighid, Hugo, Azurda (Gramps), Minoth (Cole), Adam, and Mythra. It's really a shame because he thinks the reason why he Lost Lora was because of The archictect, when it's actually the Praetor who caused him pain and suffering.... and that's why his theme when you fight him the 2nd time and 3rd time and 4th time doubles as a tearjerker. I mean yes, he's a great villain, but what happens at the end of the DLC makes him become a villain for all the wrong reasons. Now think of shadow from sonic adventure 2: Shadow himself as well became a villain due to losing someone in the past, and that was Maria. Throughout the game, Shadow wanted revenge on all humans and to destroy all human life with the eclipse cannon. just like Shadow, Jin wanted to destroy all human life to avenge Lora... when it was clearly something he knew was wrong, but all the anger and sadness he felt caused him to join Malos, Akhos, Mik and Patroka. That's what i like about him... once a friend and ally to humans and blades 500 years ago until Lora's passing caused him to snap, and try to destroy all human life. ANd like i said about his theme that plays when you fight him three more times, is that it represents all the pain, suffering and loss he's feeling throughout the entire main story 500 years later... tbh: Seeing him go to the darkside is even more saddening. That's what I love about Jin: he has a purpose to kill everyone and everything that he once proctected. Sad, but true.
Man, this part of the game was brutal. The team suffered a MASSIVE beating here. Sure, their beating in Uraya is rough, but Mythra showing up gave hope. Here, there is NO hope. The party gets rekted and their most powerful friend gets taken away.
I really feel like this is the part that truly solidifies how people feel about Rex. Whether it's like, dislike or apathy this is the scene that always gets brought up. Definitely where Rex's maturity gets put under scrutiny most for better or worse

Tornan survivors, implied to have been led by Zettar, falsely claimed to be of Addam's bloodline to establish their power base and gain their subjects' trust when they settled on Genbu, and Zettar is also implied to have brokered the deal with the Praetorium to supply Core Chips in exchange for their silence on the matter.
Jin talking about Rex being a child while throwing a temper tantrum against the whole world because of the actions of a select few is a level of hypocrisy you don't see often.

And this confrontation was RAW AS FUCK. the fully-rounded team of Akhos, Patroka and Mihail, the abilities and physical prowess of Jin, the artificial blades coming in to really bring the point home that they were outmatched, Pyra/Mythra straight up willing to obliterate themselves to keep everyone safe, and Jin schooling our plucky protagonist on what he's done wrong. No happy endings here, the villains won this day. This really shows what this game is capable of when it gets serious; from here on out, shit is gonna get really...well, real. It's kind of a shame people judged a book by its cover so soon when it came to this game, because I know a person or two that'd love scenes like this, but you can't communicate that to them without ruining the surprise, and even then they'd have to trudge through a bit of a silly early game. Ah well, can't have it all. At least we get to see good stuff like this.

It's not like he's been looking for trouble, they were ambushed most times and had to fight to survive. "not even others can carry him to any kind of victory?" in other words none of the others could win either, so why single him out? "having not learnt anything makes him unlikable" except he has learned on his quest, quite clearly. How is it at all reasonable to expect him to learn how to beat the most powerful blades in existence within one or two times of fighting them, when they haven't even been fighting at full strength up to now? You literally just saw Jin change into a different form and pull out new arts we've never seen before in this video. How could Rex have learned to counter that without having seen it before, especially when those arts essentially make Mythra's power useless? Really, the only time that Rex really comes across as unlikable is in the beginning of the next chapter, and then it's temporary and he snaps out of it.

I love Torna so much. They don’t just feel like a group of villains, but a group of friends. For all the evil they do, you can tell that they really love each other.
Things Emile Missed: -Again, with very little reason to come back to this area (until a later quest, and even then this one’s rather out of the way), may as well bring this one up now. On the south side of the ravine where Wulfric’s quest took place, go all the way to the southernmost part of the map. There’s a lone collection point and a brown Treasure Trove by some Rodonya. No tricks this time. Just pop it open and grab an Ice Def Up III aux core and a little shy of three thousand gold. There is a treasure trove within southern ravine that I would point out, but because of the enemies roaming around there, I can’t advise it. Should you feel gutsy enough to try taking on some Level 80s in pursuit of riches, check the southmost dead end and know that you’ll need Lockpicking Level 7 to open it up. I’ll list said riches once we get to the point where Emile’s more comfortably taking on such enemies. So remember how Emile’s been talking about how much Ice Blades suck? Time to drive the Masamune in a little deeper and twist it. 0:37 I’m surprised that Garlus aggro’d so quickly. Normally if they’re dancing and not holding their weapon they take a few seconds to pull their weapon out of the ground before initiating combat. Kinda makes them some of the easier tribe-like enemies to deal with as a result as you can get a few good hits before they start to retaliate. 1:40 It’s a pretty amazing view waking down the stairs, but if you’re looking to get all deeds, you’ll need to walk along the upper areas of the Great Pillar Passage anyways. 2:42 But first, a cutscene! They’re not going to let you get away that easily. 3:50 At least Zeke did seem to care about studies and politics, at least what was available to him and not hidden away in the coffers. 6:00 How did you get into Tantal then when Genbu was under the Cloud Sea that whole time? Oh, that option actually works. I just remember Tora saying something about flapping his ear wings all he wants and still not being able to fly, so I told Lulili to climb up. 10:11 Electrolysis is a method where you run a direct current of electricity through a substance to separate any impurities such as sediments and minerals from the substance containing them like water. 11:42 The Lower Levels and even parts of the Upper Levels of Tantal become extremely dangerous in the fog as creatures that normally lurk under the Cloud Sea’s surface find their way into Genbu, all of them at least Level 80. Beware! 14:00 It’s a little under half an hour shy of three IRL hours of footage since Genbu’s rapid descent. I will admit it is amusing to faff about in getting to the Omega Fetter knowing full well that to get there in under three in-game hours is an impossible task, just as I also find it amusing that the even numbered chapters have been the worst chapters thus far for varying reasons. Both Chapters 2 and 6 have glaring continuity errors (which I’m including certain Blade Quests in Tantal that can be started at or even before this chapter like Wulfric’s and Godfrey’s) or bring up certain things that are never used again (though Chapter 6 ends on a pretty strong note) while people find that Chapter 4 drags and the whole going to Mor Ardain thing, myself having issues with how Mòrag as a playable character was introduced. And they arrived in the nick of time, though it feels like my timer’s been stuck on 30 minutes for some time though (the fact that this cutscene takes nearly three hours of in-game time between when it starts and when Mythra repairs the Omega Fetter and Genbu to rise by 16:56 is astounding). 17:30 I forgot they made fun of the Monkfish again here. 19:00 Nice of them to be back in sync for a cutscene. I realize there was a lot to take in back when Fan died, but did none of them notice Akhos wielding a Blade weapon with a flesh eater core then? Mik’s core isn’t like Patroka’s, Akhos’s, Cole’s, or Nia’s (look, she’s all but been formally introduced as a flesh eater at this point. The Gormotti’s pretty much out of the bag). It’s a pure color, kinda like Rex and Jin. 22:05 A well balanced party with Akhos coming in as the healer despite being an attacker with Obrona while Patroka and Mikhail resumed their previous roles when last they were partnered with Perdido and Cressidus respectively. Is is any coincidence that he looks so much like H.B. who has a model of him in his “Superior form”? They knew what they were doing. I wouldn’t be surprised if Nomura was given references of H.B. (who also looks a lot like a young Hideo Kojima) when he was asked to design Akhos. 23:36 You keep using that word. The moment Malos says, "No mockery, Mik. This is serious business," he wasn't kidding. From this line forward, there is not a single line of comedy for the rest of the story. No more comedic moments, no more comedic music, all serious business. This is where the real meat of the story begins. Sure, there may be lighthearted moments that may be amusing or funny, but none that are specifically meant to be comedic.
Holy moly I might have been spoiled about future scenes, but this still offers a great shock, even if knowing what happens next I desperately need to buy a Switch and this game one day

God this whole segment is amazing. And amazing tracks too. Death Match with Torna, then ending the whole thing with The Decision, it sticks out as one of my favorite moments in the game. Everything just falls together so well
One of the few moments of the game where I got really emotional. I love the first game but it didn’t have moments like this one. And as someone who’s favorite character is Pyra, you’ll probably understand why

Of course, it might've just been poor translation or poor writing as well.
I think the point is that in that moment, Rex was more focused on his own dream of reaching Elysium, rather than focusing on how badly damaged he and Pyra/Mythra were. I don't think the scene conveyed it as well as it could've, but Rex doesn't REALLY understand how Pyra/Mythra feel, or even why they want to go to Elysium in the first place. I think that's what Jin was trying to get at.
I bumped this issue to @Luxin . Hopefully he'll cover it in a future video.
Plus, the whole reason he wants to get to Elysium in the first place is to find somewhere to live so that everyone can be okay even if all of the Titans die. Even his own "selfish goal" isn't just for himself. Jin is dumb.

It's kind of interesting how the Torna members' attitudes relate well with their Blade roles:
- Akhos, the Healer, cares a lot for his allies, especially Patroka and Jin (also kind of an Attacker Blade).
- Patroka, the Attacker, is the most aggressive of the three.
- Mikhail, the Tank, gets a kick out of provoking others.
Honestly one of the best moments of the entire story. This is about the time I really felt like I couldn't stop playing the game and I hope for others it was the same way.
Agreed, these were very good and impactful cutscenes.
The cutscene after the one at the end of the video is one of my favorites and really sealed the deal with me loving this game.

For me, this was actually the point where I started feeling a bit out-of-it with the story, though I can't exactly place why. Part of it might be because of how ridiculously over-the-top the power-scaling becomes from this point forward, as well as me just not quite understanding what's going through the heads of some of the characters, but I dunno.
But I have been getting renewed enjoyment out of the game from watching this LP, so who knows? Maybe it'll click with me more this time around.
I getcha... as a blind viewer... I have no idea how you can defeat an asspull of a power such as speed of light offense. Power scaling is something that can get out of hand and if the enemy's power is too strong, it will feel too convenient to ever defeat them ever again. So unless Jin for some reason will hold back next time, or he randomly switches sides I feel like he'll be THE Deus Ex Diabolus for every situation where you think you have won.

Brighid *saw* what Pyra/Mythra really wanted, she wanted to die for them
She also opens her eyes in the ending it’s just not as obvious since the camera doesn’t close up on her
She also probably did it as a way of pleading for Pyra not to go and it shows how intense the moment was.

One of my favorite Pyra scenes, it’s one of the few times we get to see her be stronger than Mythra, and at such an emotional time
Pyra is emotionally stronger than Mythra. That's why Mythra nopes out of most conversation scenes that don't involve someone she knew before Pyra was created.

I awaken Herald on her for this reason, Opening with a 10-hit(?) Touch-Me-Not and cancelling into Herald's 16-hit level 1 special is a fantastic way to increase the Overdrive gauge and get party meter as well. Alternate Touch-Me-Not and Orge Slam for some high damage and consistently fast Breaks for some extra fun too!

I completely forgot how good Rex’s voice was in the last scene. Definitely one of his best moments. A shame everyone shits on him because of the ch. 1 yell and a few other moments.
Hell, I think I was too much in shock during the last moment to hear his body making a thud sound at the end titlecard when I first played.
Even 3 years later, that scene is still impactful as I remember it when I first played. I’d say this was the XC2 equivalent of a certain area before the endgame of XC1.
Oh yeah, and I’m surprised how Emile got through the Torna group fight there. I struggled a lot when I first played.
This was the moment I realised I JRPGS
The whole end scene with Jin transforming, actually defeating the group within an inch of their lives, and seeing the Aegis Sword shatter for the first time made me go “Oh sh-“ because of what had just happened and seeing how powerful Jin really was. Also it’s almost that time again for the second time that this game made me cry.
Second time. Jin shattered the Aegis Sword at the end of that cutscene when he killed Rex on the boat, too.

36:35 is increasingly becoming one of my favourite musical moments in the game because I'm 99% sure that's Jin's theme we're hearing there, but more importantly, it's one of the more subdued parts of Jin's theme that's now going at full blast. Jin has utterly decimated the party using a side of himself that we've never seen before, and that fact is reflected in the music perfectly. Bravo Mitsuda, seriously.

I believe Chugga mentioned Stunned Swallow was a forced launch. I'm 99% certain that this is only true if you hit him when he's performing the art. For example, if you keep walking and don't attack him at all, you won't get launched.
Can I just point out that how serious chuggaa got when he was fighting Jin for the 2nd time? When he talks about Jin's attacks in a serious way. You know shit has hit the fan.
Yeah, it's a counter art. If you can react to it, all you have to do is stall by walking. I've always found it a bit of a weird art, because the Launch duration isn't much longer than the art duration itself and he can't really even follow-up on it, so Jin barely gets anything out of connecting it. Sure, you might accidentally waste an art on it, but if you've a pouch item that automatically recharges arts, it largely ends up just being beneficial to you instead.
@@laggalot1012 I think it's mostly there to screw with your combos. That's a good few seconds that you're up in the air and can't do anything, all while the timers still tick down

Good thing he can't attack while he's in the move. And also a good thing that nobody else is there to attack with him. Man, if that were the case, it might just be one of if not the strongest fight in the game.
@@rtg_onefourtwoeightfiveseven he's already an extremely dangerous opponent, Heavenly Disrupt is probably his most dangerous move in my opinion as it does a lot of damage (plus bonus driver combo damage) and if you get hit by it you're on low hp if not dead. Plus he's got high agility and an evasion spike so you take damage for missing him, which you isn't that hard to do
The Power of Jin is such an amazing theme

He never wanted to be evil, he was just a broken blade all because he lost his driver and best friend... and all he wanted to do was try bring ----back. But revenge is not the answer... if you think about it, Jin is more like shadow from sonic adventure 2. Both characters having a troubled past and want revenge for all the wrong reasons.

I had completely forgotten about this moment, where Brighid opens her eyes at seeing Pyra sacrifice herself to keep Rex and the party safe.
It's... shocking. It's a minor character trait that has a big impact when the trait is then broken for such an intense scene.
It's things like this and her synergy with Morag that make Brighid one of my favorite story blades in terms of character.

I guess we can now conclude that Brighid's eyes aren't just a visual design thing, and she actually has her eyes perpetually closed under normal circumstances. And by extension, we can also conclude that she has sight or can otherwise sense her surroundings with precision, even with her eyes closed.
I always enjoy seeing scenes with Malos. I find it interesting how often he merely plays the observer, even at critical moments.
I think there is a part of Malos that never stopped hoping for the moment he would be stopped.

Chapter 6 feels way more akin to the Prison Island event even though it happens around the same time in this story as Agniratha did in XC1.

I have been waiting for this specific video. The events in this video made me a diehard XC2 fan and i only beat it in December. I somehow wasnt aware that XC2 was a thing until this LP started and soon after, I bought the game and played slightly ahead of the LP because i wanted to experience the game but was scared of Timed Quests like XC1. When i got to this specific part of the game, i was planning on going to do Wulfric's quest right after i went to the Omega Fetter because the game made it sound like this was urgent. After Pyra got kidnapped however, I blew through the next chapter and ultimately the rest of the game within 48-72 hours real time. I did very few side quests because i wanted to see how this was going to end. The story was interesting up to this point, but this was the moment that i finally was all-in and had no regrets finishing this game instead of playing slightly ahead.
I cant thank Emile enough for introducing me to this game as it has become one of my all time favorites
I had a similar story. I was taking my dear sweet time doing sidequests and building up my Rares at the time, but by the time I was done with Tantal I was completely engrossed in the story and forced myself to keep going because I didn't want to stop. There was exactly one sidequest that I did before going into the final dungeon area, and it was specifically for *that* optional Blade that opens up at the start of Chapter 8.

This LP caused me to get the game. I wanted to get to, because the end of Chapter 5 of this LP is when I got it. Chapter 7 then go side-questing. But this game just kept pulling me in chapter after chapter, then the next think you know I’m at the end of the game crying at the end of the game

Well, that was certainly unexpected. Remember at the beginning of this chapter when you beat up some innocent chefs and then a giant robot maid? This was not how I expected this chapter of the game to end.

I like how Jin gives a logical way of beating foresight. After all, why see the future when you can't move fast enough to dodge or block?
Wow, rewatching the final cutscene after finishing the game as well as Torna, seeing Jin's and Pyra's expressions are just... Man this is truly a beautiful game
After finishing the DLC, you can see that Jin was once a kind hearted and heroic blade until he lost Lora. Now because of that, the only chance left he had was to betray his allies he fought along side with. :Brighid, Hugo, Azurda (Gramps), Minoth (Cole), Adam, and Mythra. It's really a shame because he thinks the reason why he Lost Lora was because of The archictect, when it's actually the Praetor who caused him pain and suffering.... and that's why his theme when you fight him the 2nd time and 3rd time and 4th time doubles as a tearjerker. I mean yes, he's a great villain, but what happens at the end of the DLC makes him become a villain for all the wrong reasons. Now think of shadow from sonic adventure 2: Shadow himself as well became a villain due to losing someone in the past, and that was Maria. Throughout the game, Shadow wanted revenge on all humans and to destroy all human life with the eclipse cannon. just like Shadow, Jin wanted to destroy all human life to avenge Lora... when it was clearly something he knew was wrong, but all the anger and sadness he felt caused him to join Malos, Akhos, Mik and Patroka. That's what i like about him... once a friend and ally to humans and blades 500 years ago until Lora's passing caused him to snap, and try to destroy all human life. ANd like i said about his theme that plays when you fight him three more times, is that it represents all the pain, suffering and loss he's feeling throughout the entire main story 500 years later... tbh: Seeing him go to the darkside is even more saddening. That's what I love about Jin: he has a purpose to kill everyone and everything that he once proctected. Sad, but true.

Man, this part of the game was brutal. The team suffered a MASSIVE beating here. Sure, their beating in Uraya is rough, but Mythra showing up gave hope. Here, there is NO hope. The party gets rekted and their most powerful friend gets taken away.

I really feel like this is the part that truly solidifies how people feel about Rex. Whether it's like, dislike or apathy this is the scene that always gets brought up. Definitely where Rex's maturity gets put under scrutiny most for better or worse

And this confrontation was RAW AS FUCK. the fully-rounded team of Akhos, Patroka and Mihail, the abilities and physical prowess of Jin, the artificial blades coming in to really bring the point home that they were outmatched, Pyra/Mythra straight up willing to obliterate themselves to keep everyone safe, and Jin schooling our plucky protagonist on what he's done wrong. No happy endings here, the villains won this day.
This really shows what this game is capable of when it gets serious; from here on out, shit is gonna get really...well, real. It's kind of a shame people judged a book by its cover so soon when it came to this game, because I know a person or two that'd love scenes like this, but you can't communicate that to them without ruining the surprise, and even then they'd have to trudge through a bit of a silly early game. Ah well, can't have it all. At least we get to see good stuff like this.

"having not learnt anything makes him unlikable" except he has learned on his quest, quite clearly. How is it at all reasonable to expect him to learn how to beat the most powerful blades in existence within one or two times of fighting them, when they haven't even been fighting at full strength up to now? You literally just saw Jin change into a different form and pull out new arts we've never seen before in this video. How could Rex have learned to counter that without having seen it before, especially when those arts essentially make Mythra's power useless? Really, the only time that Rex really comes across as unlikable is in the beginning of the next chapter, and then it's temporary and he snaps out of it.

I love Torna so much. They don’t just feel like a group of villains, but a group of friends. For all the evil they do, you can tell that they really love each other.
especially with Malos and Jin, you can see there's a bond between them.

Things Emile Missed:
-Again, with very little reason to come back to this area (until a later quest, and even then this one’s rather out of the way), may as well bring this one up now. On the south side of the ravine where Wulfric’s quest took place, go all the way to the southernmost part of the map. There’s a lone collection point and a brown Treasure Trove by some Rodonya. No tricks this time. Just pop it open and grab an Ice Def Up III aux core and a little shy of three thousand gold.
There is a treasure trove within southern ravine that I would point out, but because of the enemies roaming around there, I can’t advise it. Should you feel gutsy enough to try taking on some Level 80s in pursuit of riches, check the southmost dead end and know that you’ll need Lockpicking Level 7 to open it up. I’ll list said riches once we get to the point where Emile’s more comfortably taking on such enemies.
So remember how Emile’s been talking about how much Ice Blades suck? Time to drive the Masamune in a little deeper and twist it.
0:37 I’m surprised that Garlus aggro’d so quickly. Normally if they’re dancing and not holding their weapon they take a few seconds to pull their weapon out of the ground before initiating combat. Kinda makes them some of the easier tribe-like enemies to deal with as a result as you can get a few good hits before they start to retaliate.

I will admit it is amusing to faff about in getting to the Omega Fetter knowing full well that to get there in under three in-game hours is an impossible task, just as I also find it amusing that the even numbered chapters have been the worst chapters thus far for varying reasons. Both Chapters 2 and 6 have glaring continuity errors (which I’m including certain Blade Quests in Tantal that can be started at or even before this chapter like Wulfric’s and Godfrey’s) or bring up certain things that are never used again (though Chapter 6 ends on a pretty strong note) while people find that Chapter 4 drags and the whole going to Mor Ardain thing, myself having issues with how Mòrag as a playable character was introduced.
And they arrived in the nick of time, though it feels like my timer’s been stuck on 30 minutes for some time though (the fact that this cutscene takes nearly three hours of in-game time between when it starts and when Mythra repairs the Omega Fetter and Genbu to rise by 16:56 is astounding).

Mik’s core isn’t like Patroka’s, Akhos’s, Cole’s, or Nia’s (look, she’s all but been formally introduced as a flesh eater at this point. The Gormotti’s pretty much out of the bag). It’s a pure color, kinda like Rex and Jin.

Is is any coincidence that he looks so much like H.B. who has a model of him in his “Superior form”? They knew what they were doing. I wouldn’t be surprised if Nomura was given references of H.B. (who also looks a lot like a young Hideo Kojima) when he was asked to design Akhos.

God this whole segment is amazing. And amazing tracks too. Death Match with Torna, then ending the whole thing with The Decision, it sticks out as one of my favorite moments in the game. Everything just falls together so well
