The fact that both Luka and Kyrie didn’t play even close to their full potential in the first 2 rounds and won them both anyway, says a ton about how good the rest of the team has played. And how much they’ve bought into their roles.
It also says a lot about this team’s ceiling, and how dangerous they could be if both Luka and Kyrie get back to consistent superstar performances.
And it shows how mediocre the Mavs supporting cast has been in recent years.
Replacing Dwight Powell with Lively/Gafford.
Go from Dorian Finney Smith to Grant Williams, then replaced with PJ Washington.
And DJJ fills the Reggie Bullock role way better.
Kyrie in the Brunson spot. (Not an upgrade anymore, since Brunson has been insane, but it’s still a big upgrade on the version of Brunson that the Mavs had).
Kyrie definitely played closed to his potential in round one, he averaged 26/5/5 on elite splits, how much more did he need to do in that series?

Luka & Kyrie was coasting the first two rounds and only turned it up when needed. Both of them never really had any really big games during this playoffs and their role players actually carried them through the Clippers & the #1 seed in OKC. LuKai are arguably the best closers in the game. Watch how they shut down this wanna-be Michael Jordan that ball hogs, has tunnel vision, and shot 25% from the field in G7 vs the Nuggets.
Thank you. The new Michael, next "face of the league" is non existent in a game 7, but people are still so desperate to praise him that they resort to talking about how he played hard 2nd half defense, like he's some kind of role player. The obsession with Edwards has been out of control. I do think Minnesota will win, but it has more to do with being a better team than with Edwards himself.
