Every once in a while I stumble upon a topic that Is like a splash of cold water to my face...and this is one of those! I, of course, realize that now I have a lot to consider and learn. I am much older than you ladies, probably older than your moms, so I'll be approaching this from a slightly different perspective. I am now asking myself, "What parts of 'just getting older' and the aches and pains and frustrations have been accepting as inevitable and 'natural' that are really lies that I have believed for a very long time?" This is everything I’ve been looking for. I’ve been following metabolic and ancestral health for a while but I’ve been in such that stressful/aging hormonal state for so long that it feels impossible to start. I’m tired all of the time, I can’t even do laundry or dishes anymore. I have insulin resistance, PTSD, I’m obese, I’m worried about both diabetes and hashimotos disease. My body is deteriorating and I am so stressed I can’t function. The father of my kids and I just separated and I’m working two jobs and I completely stepped away from the ancestral/homesteading life I was pursuing before. Im trying so hard to get back to the life I want for my kids and I but I have an empty cup. I found a new church that has been exactly what I needed to repair my relationship with God and now I’m trying to nourish my physical health. Thank you ladies so much for this.
I have noticed since becoming a mom that I just don’t enjoy life like I used to.. I’m so thankful and thrilled to be a mom but the things I had full enjoyment which was like every detail of life has gone away. I have been praying about it and sat down and just randomly selected this and wow! What an answer! Thank you!

I have been waiting for this!!! My holistic practitioner changed my way of eating to pretty much pro metabolic to see if it would help with chronic nerve pain in my leg. Happy to say I started listening to freely rooted podcast back in January and have been pain free for months now.

I track my food quite often and am happy to report that I eat too much. 😅 Gaps diet healed autism in our family- shush don’t tell or they will come hunt us down. It also helped with my Eds/arthritis but I still need to heal my Eds more and lose weight. Thanks for the information.

I listen to a lot of health talks and as a Christian I appreciated hearing one that wasn't only based on "evolution" but even on foods mentioned in scripture and fasting in light of the bible. Thanks for introducing me to these two! I am a long time Weston pricier and have “accidentally” discovered some of these same ideas along the way. Laughed at gagging on a kale smoothie. I went on a kick of those and realized, “wait, this is really disgusting but would be delicious if I just made some homemade broth and cooked this as a soup. Why am I ruining g these delicious foods by eating them in this weird way?” I also resonated to not skipping breakfast. Continued that practice into motherhood for years until basically kind of recently when I heard Jordan Peterson mention that for many of his patients he cured their anxiety by having them always eat breakfast along with a little protein because it stabilized hormones. Turns out that that was a huge part of mood swings I’d been experiencing!
This is a great video and I’ve learned a lot! As a person who has an autoimmune disease I encourage you to look into the science of why people who have an autoimmune disease turn to AIP and what the purpose is of is. I’m curious why the one lady was on it for so long when it is meant to be a temporary diet (usually around 90 days) to fix your leaky gut. The idea is to stop eating known inflammatory foods for a while so as to give your gut lining time to heal. You then later being introducing different foods after your leaky gut has healed, thus preventing those inflammatory foods from leaking into your blood stream, which then triggers your immune system. There is a science explanation behind it as well as why the proteins in milk do trigger an autoimmune response in people with leaky gut. Raw dairy products are definitely to go for sure! But after you’ve healed your gut. I totally get, practice, and believe that where your mind and beliefs of your food are matters. But for anyone reading this who is on AIP or who suffers from inflammation or an autoimmune disease, please look into the science of why that is and take care of that first. Without that piece you will continue to suffer. I agreed and loved everything else that was discussed in this video!
I really, really enjoyed the first half of this presentation. However, I believe the guest misspoke on several topics during the last half. They used more “logic” and opinion and the subject of intermittent fasting, thyroid, and resting heart rate. There is so much science that supports this done by researchers and metabolic experts that they completely ignored and obviously unaware of. Too much scientific research studies including WOMEN that they need to read.
I hesitated for weeks on writing this comment because I wanted it to be thoughtful and only to help others. This video was incredibly inspirational and meaningful to me. Although I felt healthy and energetic beforehand, I immediately began adapting a prometabolic way of eating because it all made so much sense. However, after eating this way for a few weeks, I began suffering from lack of appetite and fatigue. I had 3 episodes of debilitating weeklong nausea even after stopping the diet. One time even ended up in the ER. I stopped going to the gym and could barely keep up with my kids. Prior, I was working 12 hour shifts and doing crossfit style workouts. 4 months later, I am stilll suffering from whatever this diet has done to my gut and microbiome. I am slowly starting to heal after adding back in fermented foods among other gut healing foods, but I expect it to take my gut months to heal. Please be careful with this way of eating! It introduces a lot of raw animal product that may have lots of bacteria that can be extremely harmful, especially if it's foreign to you. I was getting raw milk from a local farm that I trusted, along with raw beef liver. It also encourages lots of heavy cream and raw eggs. At this point, I know my body cannot tolerate these foods. Even my lab tests showed inflammation. Multiple doctors have lecture me on the dangers of eating these foods raw, especially the ER doctor who has seen aggressive foodborne illness cases. Again, please be careful and listen to your body! This way of eating is not "one size fits all."
Of course everyone's body is different and will respond in a unique way and I would agree there is no one size fits all as each one of us has to know and understand our bodies and how to best nourish them.
I'm really sorry the way you were eating was so detrimental for your body. I've been eating this way for 3+ years and I've never heard anyone say lots of raw eggs and cream is necessary or even wanted. Even the word encouraged is not a word I would think of with PM. Exploration on the other hand! I think jumping on something fast makes us adopt something that works for someone else. What PM says is "find what works for you". There are principals to follow, but not at any cost.
Just because they like their way of eating doesn't mean they should throw other possible ways of healthy eating under the bus. Whole foods plant based eating is not just a trend, for example. It has been proven to improve objective health markers as well as reverse disease. That's why I have been eating that way for ten years. Yes, part of the benefits are from the processed foods that I cut out, but that is just one aspect.
Hi Lisa! I'm a big fan of your chanel and I learned so much here! As an ayurveda consultant I have to say that there is a gap in the western approach to the health and also in western MODERN holistic approach as well! And that is forgetting INDIVIDUALITY. In all the traditional medicine and holistic health approaches it is mentioned that people have different types of body build up with different proportion of 5 basic elements and that what makes people's metabolisms and characters so individual and unique! There is no diet or lifestyle that can be good or bad for everyone! It all depends what type (Dosha) Is dominant in you! For example if your fire element is dominant your metabolism is faster and you are more active and passionate than a water dominant type, so you shouldn't have a long fasting and you shouldn't eat too much hot or acidic food because that would make your fire even stronger and it throws you off your healthy balance! If you are interested I can go into details and explain this in some form...im not a big scientist but I can connect the points and I think it all makes perfect sense... I believe in sharing knowledge openly😊 Love this beautiful community!

I’m a lover of all things farmhouse on Boone! I will continue to watch your content. I will probably still give this a thumbs up, just for you Lisa 😆 but I’m definitely disappointed on the execution of this topic. I am 30 minutes in and still don’t quite understand metabolic eating. The ladies really just keep talking about the political view the social views and stigma from others regarding metabolic health. As a young mother just genuinely seeking to learn about this topic I don’t find it helpful being told that there should be no list no practical guides for eating the metabolic lifestyle. I love how you Lisa brought it straight back to the topic at hand. If you read the Bible the life of Christ was all about sacrifice he sacrificed his own desires for our souls. The role as a mama is just that way. But understanding the need for being healthy so we can better care for our household is something entirely different. Still love Lisa definitely not being that “person”. I definitely don’t mind finding another person to better help me along this journey. Looking forward to your next video!
I agree. They really didn't talk about how or what to eat for your metabolism. How do you find out if you have a slow or fast your metabolism is? What about gut issues? Not all food intolerances or allergies are because we have psychological issues. Seems like there was some missing info here.
49:41 I’m dealing with this right now. I have the same mental block. “This food is bad” so I’m trying to retrain my entire brain that all food is fine, and I MUST listen to what is good for my body as I try foods
Also, I appreciated their input, but I would disagree with Kori that humans have "evolved" over time. We have certainly had adaptations to how we grow and develop because of the modern lifestyle, but I would argue that we have not evolved, but are designed by a creator to live the way we do. This is why we were given dominion (not freedom to destroy) over creation. We are thinking beings because we are made in the image of a thinking God!

I'd love to see you have Mindy Pelz on. She is a proponent of fasting and has a specific method for women based on their cycle. In the animal kingdom fasting is how animals deal is disease and digestive issues... So I'm not completely sold on this idea of eating often, but do agree with the amygdala and mental process around beliefs of foods. I'm on a blend of Pelz's fasting and Weston A Price.
My kids all have a dairy sensitivity, but do completely fine on hard cheeses and raw milk we get from a herd share close to us. The only conclusion I have is that they are reacting to additives. My son is sensitive to other additives too.
Wow, this is the first approach to eating that makes the most sense to me. I started trying to follow traditional cooking methods 17 years ago. I had even found a raw milk source. My eczema got worse with each of my two pregnancies and my naturopath did IGE testing and took me off dairy. I had already been off gluten just because I was joining my 4 year old on that diet to see if gluten was an issue for him and found it gave me more energy. I didn't jump on any diet trend, I was put on it by others. I am interested to know if there would still be a psychological component to what caused my reactions in the first place.
one thing they didn't touch on is that there are true allergies that don't have to do with mindset but how our bodies have changed due to several factors in the environment and the lack of nutrition from our mothers and grandmothers. At any rate, through GAPS and those protocols with traditional foods, God enabled us to heal our son of 2 allergies and moderate to severe eczema. We also try to follow traditional cooking but life is so busy now 2 kids later and moving, etc. Definitely, you can reverse eczema - it's not the food that's bad, it's our body's ability to digest, absorb, the way the food is produced, how the seeds have been modified... so many things.
This was an amazing episode, wow, I've been doing WAPF style eating but mixed with fasting. I lost 20 lbs with fasting and boom it stopped. So, I've been trying different variations, but I'm definitely noticing cold hands and feet, bad mood, stalled weightloss..etc, definitely signs of slow thyroid. So. I'm into not stressing my body and I'm going to try this more pro metabolic approach.
I honestly agreed with most of these ladies points, but have no clue on intermittent fasting. It sometimes okay to not said anything if you are not confident in your research about topics.

Our ancestors did not eat 3 to 4 hours a day. If everyone would stay away from sugar, processed foods and oils GMO food . Eat whole organic grass fed pasture raised is best! I’m 64 years old and am healing my Hasimotos by detoxing on a cellular level eating clean keto and intermittent fasting and feel better than ever. Find a functional wellness doctor!
This is so interesting. Great listen! I've always been allergic to dairy, ever since childhood. But lately, my body has started rejecting other things like meat, certain spices, eggs etc. I think I'm simply unhealthy and this is a manifestation of that. I took a lot of antibiotics some years ago for a recurring illness and the "allergies" started after that. Currently trying to fix my gut health so I can go back to eating normally.

Be careful. Information on these subjects are far and wide, baby steps, eat real food, listen to YOUR body. I have enjoyed intermittent fasting at different times in my process, I like it, just not a full time lifestyle. Avoid all diets.
Hmmm, I'm going to have to rethink my stance on intermitted fasting. I've been doing it for 2 years now and have really enjoyed not feeling hungry all the time and only wanting 2 meals a day, it's so simple. I've never liked eating in the morning and when I force myself to, I end up obsessing about food and feeling hungry all the time, like I will count the minutes until I get to eat something else, and I never feel satisfied. This is the reason I started intermitted fasting in the first place.
I was a hard core intermittent faster and transitioned to pro-metabolic. I liked IF because I thought it was easy, simple and thought I "felt great" but it wrecked my cycle. Also when I would get to my eating window and just binge on huge meals, uncontrollably. I tried to go somewhat slow with just eating slightly earlier in the day, adding a snack, etc. But eventually I went all in, and I felt insatiably hungry for about 2 weeks, and then my normal hunger and satiety cues came back!! It was a little scary to feel SO hungry, but I did not deny myself as I knew my body was probably starved for nutrients! Is pro-metabolic more work than IF? Yes of course, but I feel so much more in control and in tune with my body now.
So many questions. Who is a good source to read about this more? What about perimenopause/menopause? My progesterone is very very low...well...estrogen is low-ish too, but still higher than progesterone, so I have started bioidentical hormones. Would this regulate hormones in this phase of life? I would rather take ZERO hormones, but my body feels like a disaster.... Appreciate this podcast so much!
I'm afraid I have to strongly disagree with their comments on intermittent fasting. It may be well and good for them to fast when they sleep, but as someone who has personally watch how the modern western diet (with lots of sugar, processed oils and refined grains) has destroyed families (including my own) mainly with diabetes, intermittent fasting has been the healthiest, most sustainable and cheapest (because it's free) approach to metabolic health. Yes our grandmas didn't fast 48 to 72 hours..but our grandmas probably didn't eat dessert at every meal or were exposed to the amount of junk we find at supermarket nowadays. Also for people suffering from food & sugar addiction, avoiding sugar and grains completely (even ancient grains) are necessary for physiological and mental healing. And there is no solid evidence that shows intermittent fasting to be detrimental to women. I would highly recommend actually delving into the science of it and reading books such as The Obesity Code and The Diabetes Code by Dr Jason Fung as a start. He cites evidences published in high ranking medical journals showing the benefits and healing power of fasting for people suffering from obesity-related diseases.

I love this so much and I would also really love to hear your advice to the people like me who, unlike you, have not been lean all our lives and are just now feeling the metabolism 'catching up' with them, but those of us who have really struggled and tried everything our entire lives. Intermittent fasting is not starving yourself, if you're doing it right. Intermittent fasting is not the same as cutting calories. It is allocating a specific window during the day to eat. You can still eat all of the calories you need in your window. I have no problem with pro metabolic lifestyle - I actually agree with almost everything you're all saying, but I'm not convinced keto and IF can't be done right and healthily. I completely agree that starving yoir body of the nutrients it needs is never a good idea.

There are quite a few great things in this episode but also some things that seem a bit off. The intermittent fasting bashing went too far. Fasting has been a part of every tradition culture. The Israelites were fed bread and meat everyday in the dessert by God. If God thought they couldn’t possibly make it between meals without a snack he would have provided that. The stress hormones aren’t all bad. Like anything, people can take it to the extreme but let’s not label it as all bad. When I’m nursing or pregnant I eat a lot of food. But I noticed with my last baby that one he was about one it felt way healthier to stop eating after dinner. Once again there are some great tidbits here but I just can’t endorse the whole metabolic method they ascribe to
Also, if you drink coffee regularly, your bun ody adjusts to it and it stops having an impact on your cortisol levels.. There is so much nuanced misinformation.
What is wrong with not wanting to eat meat after watching the animal being "processed" in the slaughterhouse? I would say that's compassion. If you aren't ok with the process of getting that meat on your table, why should you be ok eating it? Because of ancesstors? C'mon.. Yes we are evolved, yes we're intelligent, but with that comes responsibility. We should think about what we eat and how we live. We shouldn't take eating meat lightly. So to at least think about the amounts here is a good thing.
I went into this with high hopes but it wasn't quite hitting the mark for me - the anti-vegan discussion using psychological and psuedopsychological words like trauma bonding didn't feel appropriate. But I guess everyone is coming at this from different stages
Hummmm...... Stress...fight or flight....the detriment of the destructive and poison SAD diet controlled and perpetuated by our big lobbing food industry when soy and corn became the main ingredient of our food source from feeding our animals and ourselves. PURE EATING and an outdoor life should be included again. What we eat (Westin A Price still #1 for me ) not how often we eat.

You then later being introducing different foods after your leaky gut has healed, thus preventing those inflammatory foods from leaking into your blood stream, which then triggers your immune system.
There is a science explanation behind it as well as why the proteins in milk do trigger an autoimmune response in people with leaky gut.
Raw dairy products are definitely to go for sure! But after you’ve healed your gut.
I totally get, practice, and believe that where your mind and beliefs of your food are matters. But for anyone reading this who is on AIP or who suffers from inflammation or an autoimmune disease, please look into the science of why that is and take care of that first.
Without that piece you will continue to suffer.

I really, really enjoyed the first half of this presentation. However, I believe the guest misspoke on several topics during the last half. They used more “logic” and opinion and the subject of intermittent fasting, thyroid, and resting heart rate. There is so much science that supports this done by researchers and metabolic experts that they completely ignored and obviously unaware of. Too much scientific research studies including WOMEN that they need to read.
I have been very interested in pro metabolic lifestyle!! It all just makes so much sense to me! Thank you for this!
Boy, this video has really been eye-opening a breath of fresh air really. I have a lot of things to think about.
I hesitated for weeks on writing this comment because I wanted it to be thoughtful and only to help others. This video was incredibly inspirational and meaningful to me. Although I felt healthy and energetic beforehand, I immediately began adapting a prometabolic way of eating because it all made so much sense. However, after eating this way for a few weeks, I began suffering from lack of appetite and fatigue. I had 3 episodes of debilitating weeklong nausea even after stopping the diet. One time even ended up in the ER. I stopped going to the gym and could barely keep up with my kids. Prior, I was working 12 hour shifts and doing crossfit style workouts. 4 months later, I am stilll suffering from whatever this diet has done to my gut and microbiome. I am slowly starting to heal after adding back in fermented foods among other gut healing foods, but I expect it to take my gut months to heal. Please be careful with this way of eating! It introduces a lot of raw animal product that may have lots of bacteria that can be extremely harmful, especially if it's foreign to you. I was getting raw milk from a local farm that I trusted, along with raw beef liver. It also encourages lots of heavy cream and raw eggs. At this point, I know my body cannot tolerate these foods. Even my lab tests showed inflammation. Multiple doctors have lecture me on the dangers of eating these foods raw, especially the ER doctor who has seen aggressive foodborne illness cases. Again, please be careful and listen to your body! This way of eating is not "one size fits all."
Of course everyone's body is different and will respond in a unique way and I would agree there is no one size fits all as each one of us has to know and understand our bodies and how to best nourish them.

I've been eating this way for 3+ years and I've never heard anyone say lots of raw eggs and cream is necessary or even wanted. Even the word encouraged is not a word I would think of with PM. Exploration on the other hand!
I think jumping on something fast makes us adopt something that works for someone else. What PM says is "find what works for you". There are principals to follow, but not at any cost.

Just because they like their way of eating doesn't mean they should throw other possible ways of healthy eating under the bus.
Whole foods plant based eating is not just a trend, for example. It has been proven to improve objective health markers as well as reverse disease. That's why I have been eating that way for ten years. Yes, part of the benefits are from the processed foods that I cut out, but that is just one aspect.

Hi Lisa! I'm a big fan of your chanel and I learned so much here! As an ayurveda consultant I have to say that there is a gap in the western approach to the health and also in western MODERN holistic approach as well! And that is forgetting INDIVIDUALITY. In all the traditional medicine and holistic health approaches it is mentioned that people have different types of body build up with different proportion of 5 basic elements and that what makes people's metabolisms and characters so individual and unique! There is no diet or lifestyle that can be good or bad for everyone! It all depends what type (Dosha) Is dominant in you! For example if your fire element is dominant your metabolism is faster and you are more active and passionate than a water dominant type, so you shouldn't have a long fasting and you shouldn't eat too much hot or acidic food because that would make your fire even stronger and it throws you off your healthy balance!
If you are interested I can go into details and explain this in some form...im not a big scientist but I can connect the points and I think it all makes perfect sense... I believe in sharing knowledge openly😊

I’m a lover of all things farmhouse on Boone! I will continue to watch your content. I will probably still give this a thumbs up, just for you Lisa 😆 but I’m definitely disappointed on the execution of this topic. I am 30 minutes in and still don’t quite understand metabolic eating. The ladies really just keep talking about the political view the social views and stigma from others regarding metabolic health. As a young mother just genuinely seeking to learn about this topic I don’t find it helpful being told that there should be no list no practical guides for eating the metabolic lifestyle. I love how you Lisa brought it straight back to the topic at hand. If you read the Bible the life of Christ was all about sacrifice he sacrificed his own desires for our souls. The role as a mama is just that way. But understanding the need for being healthy so we can better care for our household is something entirely different. Still love Lisa definitely not being that “person”. I definitely don’t mind finding another person to better help me along this journey. Looking forward to your next video!
I agree. They really didn't talk about how or what to eat for your metabolism. How do you find out if you have a slow or fast your metabolism is? What about gut issues? Not all food intolerances or allergies are because we have psychological issues. Seems like there was some missing info here.

We have certainly had adaptations to how we grow and develop because of the modern lifestyle, but I would argue that we have not evolved, but are designed by a creator to live the way we do. This is why we were given dominion (not freedom to destroy) over creation. We are thinking beings because we are made in the image of a thinking God!

I'd love to see you have Mindy Pelz on. She is a proponent of fasting and has a specific method for women based on their cycle. In the animal kingdom fasting is how animals deal is disease and digestive issues... So I'm not completely sold on this idea of eating often, but do agree with the amygdala and mental process around beliefs of foods. I'm on a blend of Pelz's fasting and Weston A Price.

My kids all have a dairy sensitivity, but do completely fine on hard cheeses and raw milk we get from a herd share close to us. The only conclusion I have is that they are reacting to additives. My son is sensitive to other additives too.
Wow, this is the first approach to eating that makes the most sense to me. I started trying to follow traditional cooking methods 17 years ago. I had even found a raw milk source. My eczema got worse with each of my two pregnancies and my naturopath did IGE testing and took me off dairy. I had already been off gluten just because I was joining my 4 year old on that diet to see if gluten was an issue for him and found it gave me more energy. I didn't jump on any diet trend, I was put on it by others. I am interested to know if there would still be a psychological component to what caused my reactions in the first place.
one thing they didn't touch on is that there are true allergies that don't have to do with mindset but how our bodies have changed due to several factors in the environment and the lack of nutrition from our mothers and grandmothers. At any rate, through GAPS and those protocols with traditional foods, God enabled us to heal our son of 2 allergies and moderate to severe eczema. We also try to follow traditional cooking but life is so busy now 2 kids later and moving, etc. Definitely, you can reverse eczema - it's not the food that's bad, it's our body's ability to digest, absorb, the way the food is produced, how the seeds have been modified... so many things.
Lots of people need to heal their gut before they can handle dairy, even raw dairy. Look into GAPs diet.
This was an amazing episode, wow, I've been doing WAPF style eating but mixed with fasting. I lost 20 lbs with fasting and boom it stopped. So, I've been trying different variations, but I'm definitely noticing cold hands and feet, bad mood, stalled weightloss..etc, definitely signs of slow thyroid. So. I'm into not stressing my body and I'm going to try this more pro metabolic approach.

Our ancestors did not eat 3 to 4 hours a day. If everyone would stay away from sugar, processed foods and oils GMO food . Eat whole organic grass fed pasture raised is best!

This is so interesting. Great listen! I've always been allergic to dairy, ever since childhood. But lately, my body has started rejecting other things like meat, certain spices, eggs etc. I think I'm simply unhealthy and this is a manifestation of that. I took a lot of antibiotics some years ago for a recurring illness and the "allergies" started after that. Currently trying to fix my gut health so I can go back to eating normally.

Hmmm, I'm going to have to rethink my stance on intermitted fasting. I've been doing it for 2 years now and have really enjoyed not feeling hungry all the time and only wanting 2 meals a day, it's so simple. I've never liked eating in the morning and when I force myself to, I end up obsessing about food and feeling hungry all the time, like I will count the minutes until I get to eat something else, and I never feel satisfied. This is the reason I started intermitted fasting in the first place.
I was a hard core intermittent faster and transitioned to pro-metabolic. I liked IF because I thought it was easy, simple and thought I "felt great" but it wrecked my cycle. Also when I would get to my eating window and just binge on huge meals, uncontrollably.
I tried to go somewhat slow with just eating slightly earlier in the day, adding a snack, etc. But eventually I went all in, and I felt insatiably hungry for about 2 weeks, and then my normal hunger and satiety cues came back!! It was a little scary to feel SO hungry, but I did not deny myself as I knew my body was probably starved for nutrients!
Is pro-metabolic more work than IF? Yes of course, but I feel so much more in control and in tune with my body now.
I hear you saying lots of food sensitivities or intolerances are emotional. What is your opinion on newborns and infants with intolerances.
So many questions. Who is a good source to read about this more? What about perimenopause/menopause? My progesterone is very very low...well...estrogen is low-ish too, but still higher than progesterone, so I have started bioidentical hormones. Would this regulate hormones in this phase of life? I would rather take ZERO hormones, but my body feels like a disaster.... Appreciate this podcast so much!
I'm afraid I have to strongly disagree with their comments on intermittent fasting. It may be well and good for them to fast when they sleep, but as someone who has personally watch how the modern western diet (with lots of sugar, processed oils and refined grains) has destroyed families (including my own) mainly with diabetes, intermittent fasting has been the healthiest, most sustainable and cheapest (because it's free) approach to metabolic health. Yes our grandmas didn't fast 48 to 72 hours..but our grandmas probably didn't eat dessert at every meal or were exposed to the amount of junk we find at supermarket nowadays. Also for people suffering from food & sugar addiction, avoiding sugar and grains completely (even ancient grains) are necessary for physiological and mental healing. And there is no solid evidence that shows intermittent fasting to be detrimental to women. I would highly recommend actually delving into the science of it and reading books such as The Obesity Code and The Diabetes Code by Dr Jason Fung as a start. He cites evidences published in high ranking medical journals showing the benefits and healing power of fasting for people suffering from obesity-related diseases.

Intermittent fasting is not starving yourself, if you're doing it right. Intermittent fasting is not the same as cutting calories. It is allocating a specific window during the day to eat. You can still eat all of the calories you need in your window. I have no problem with pro metabolic lifestyle - I actually agree with almost everything you're all saying, but I'm not convinced keto and IF can't be done right and healthily. I completely agree that starving yoir body of the nutrients it needs is never a good idea.

There are quite a few great things in this episode but also some things that seem a bit off. The intermittent fasting bashing went too far. Fasting has been a part of every tradition culture. The Israelites were fed bread and meat everyday in the dessert by God. If God thought they couldn’t possibly make it between meals without a snack he would have provided that. The stress hormones aren’t all bad. Like anything, people can take it to the extreme but let’s not label it as all bad. When I’m nursing or pregnant I eat a lot of food. But I noticed with my last baby that one he was about one it felt way healthier to stop eating after dinner. Once again there are some great tidbits here but I just can’t endorse the whole metabolic method they ascribe to

What is wrong with not wanting to eat meat after watching the animal being "processed" in the slaughterhouse? I would say that's compassion. If you aren't ok with the process of getting that meat on your table, why should you be ok eating it? Because of ancesstors? C'mon.. Yes we are evolved, yes we're intelligent, but with that comes responsibility. We should think about what we eat and how we live. We shouldn't take eating meat lightly. So to at least think about the amounts here is a good thing.
