    I went to the beekeeper to get 12 bees. He counted and gave me 13.
    "Sir, you gave me an extra."
    "That's a freebie."

    I really enjoy your bee and honey videos. My dad had a fruit and vegetable stand for years. He bought and sold a local bee keepers Honey. The bee keeper said he had to put an electric fence around the area of his hives to help keep the bears away and out of his bee hives. I love the taste of honey and think that there is nothing better to eat with buttered biscuits than some honey.

    The electric extractors by maxant are worth every penny. Make sure you get one. It holds 9 frames or 3 deep frames. All you do is bolt it down to a piece of wood and get two tubes of sand and it’s good times my friend. If you thinking about getting it don’t think anymore get it you will be happy. I’m very happy with mine. It takes six weeks to get it though.

    Everyone of those spinners I've seen on youtube, are wobbly. Maybe if you mounted it on a piece of plywood, it would take the wobble out.

    • @falllineridge
      @falllineridge  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Probably would. It's not the extractor, it's the frames. It's tough to find 4 frames that are exactly the same weight. It wobbles because the frames throw it off. The plywood is probably more than the extractor these days.

    After harvesting the honey, in 3 days the whole 5 gal bucket would have turned rock hard crystalized. Each harvest also meant grinding each batch[1200 pounds] in a Champion Juicer set to homogenize and therefore no heat was used to pour out Creamed Kiawe. With no heat used, honey was therefore Raw and sold out as soon as we had it bottled.

      I think it's a matter of personal preference. They have value for keeping the queen out of the supers...but she will very rarely get into a box of honey. There's just no place for her to lay eggs in there. I don't use them because it's extra equipment to deal with.

    Your videos are great. I ordered a sawmill that won't arrive until November. We have a lot of pine trees that need to come down. Should we wait until the mill arrives or cut them down now. Will they mill ok if we take them down now? Thanks for any advice.

    • @falllineridge
      @falllineridge  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      With pine I would wait until closer to time. Pine will get blue stain in it (which if fine if you like it) if it lays around too long. You’ll get much prettier boards if you mill them green and stack them to dry properly. Also bugs love pine logs. You can avoid bug holes by cutting fresh.

      That's what I was thinking!!

    • @falllineridge
      @falllineridge  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I thought of that. The spinner is pretty heavy duty and it might be rough on the drill. Plus the beauty of Maxant's electric motor is that you can set it to whatever speed you want and then walk away and do something else. I'm sure I could rig up something with a drill, but this is such a nice unit I'd rather just wait and get the proper motor for it.

    Do you use queen separators? I'm new to bee keeping, just trying to get as much info as possible. I have started a berry farm (red rasp., blackberries, honeyberries, gooseberries, blueberries, and goji berries. Also cherry trees, peach, and apple trees to come. Gotta have pollinators!!!

    • @falllineridge
      @falllineridge  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't. For me it's just extra equipment to keep up with. Once the bees fill a super with nectar, she just really doesn't go up there. There's no place for her to lay eggs. However, it does make certain you're not blowing her out of the hive...and it can keep her from laying eggs repetitively in a small section that prevents you from extracting the box. So, I think it's a personal preference thing.
