    Thank you Gojira for this. Brothers and sisters, please let us save Mother Earth.

      @Sniflet 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think we should think about saving ourself. Mother Earth will rotate with or without us. We RLY should stop thinking like we are the center of the universe and realize we need to think of what we're doing as human species if we wanna survive. And THAT my friends i think is just a wishful thinking.

    In Brazil, we have an ancient indigenous instrument that makes a similar sound but deeper that is called Berimbau (buh-rim-bou; Portuguese bey-reenm-bou ).
    The Berimbau is a single-string instrument made with this string that is stretched along a wooden rod with a coconut (originally) carcass in the bottom to resonate the sound. Sometimes we could find a specific type of rattle with the coconut carcass to add an extra sound, that specific rattle is called Caxixi (ca-she-she).
    To play it, it is used a wood stick to strike (not hard) the string.
    I don't know if someone brought it to South America tho.
    It is a widely used instrument during the Capoeira (Dance/Fight) performance.
    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    The sound that we could hear in the 8:45 made by some SFX in the vocalist's voice it's a representation of a wind instrument called Torokaná/Trocano (To-ro-ka-na with a strong R sound and the A sounds like the A in "About").
    This instrument it's made of wood.
    We can see those big instruments in the indigenous people's hands. Looks like a massive flute.
    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    About the forest deforestation in the Amazonia, actually we have forest reserves to preserve the fauna/flora plus indigenous natives that still lives there. The fire occurs because of the deforestation made illegally by some farmers that live around there, and no inspector can subpoena those farmers because of the number of threats, harassment, and deaths of those inspectors caused by some illegal farmers.
    Because of the racial prejudice against indigenous people even our president Jair Bolsonaro and other politicians want to free up more areas of the forest reserve for the farmers, and this will prejudice the whole fauna/flora of the Amazonia and the whole planet in a near future.
    Some of the indigenous people that live in the forests (specifically the ones who live in the forests and not the others who live in the cities) support from our government (not because they want to) with clothes, water, and other stuff. That is not free, and that is one of the reasons a lot of people here have racial prejudice.
    The deforestation that happens there occurs with a "strategy" that the farmers use. They burn the trees to free the area "faster" and let the soil be prejudiced. If it turns to be something big enough to draw attention from the news our country leaders say " Well, the soil is already dead, so doesn't matter if we charge those farmers, we can't take this soil back, so we should let them use this soil" (farmers that they couldn't found because of the lack of inspectors).
    Another reason that our leaders do that negligence of actions is because of a "belief" that if we have more area for agriculture we increase the economy, even if we burn one of the lungs of the planet.
    Because of deforestation, we have a lot of forest fires, but the amount of forest fires that occurs happens because of illegal causes like the already cited farmers.
    We don't need that space for agriculture, we already have enough to do what we need. The reason for that deforestation it's just money+bad people.
    Some studies developed in Brazil, the US, and other countries see what it could lead in the future, but our leaders don't care, and unhappily neither some of our countrymen/women do.
    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    About the medicine that comes from Brazil, it's produced and developed by laboratory-bred animals, so doesn't come directly from the forests (depending on the pharmaceutical company).
    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    The manifestations in the 13:00 it's because of the forest fire and the leader's actions about it.
    I recommend searching about what is happening.
    At 16:00 we can see some of those protesters in from of the seat of the federal government.
    Some people made posters written in English to bring attention from other countries because of what is happening in the management of our country about a lot of things, such as deforestation or this whole pandemic situation.
    We did "nothing" about it because he was elected and he has a large amount of supporters. He is similar to Trump.
    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    A curiosity that some of you may not know, it's that we have cities in Amazonia instead of just indigenous people in the forest reserves.
    And we also have a lot of indigenous people/descendants living in the Amazonia cities and other States too.
    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    I hope that I could inform you a little bit about what happens in Brazil.

    I am just putting this here. "While coral reefs only cover 0.0025 percent of the oceanic floor, they generate half of Earth's oxygen and absorb nearly one-third of the carbon dioxide generated from burning fossil fuels" I am not saying the rainforest doesn't need to be protected, Just that I hope they also do a song about the coral reef.
    Edit. Ty gojira for another great song, and for staying enviromentalists. Ty OldskuleNerd for another great reaction!

    • @giacomo2836
      @giacomo2836 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The problem is not only the absorption of carbon dioxide, but the fact that a huge slice of the world weather cycles depend also by the Amazon forest and are affected by it.

    The thing about the Amazonia is not only the oxigen, great part of the planet is actually cooled by the rain forests and the air currents that help to spread it across the world. So beyond helping with the oxigen it helps against the global warming. Great song by gojira and great video by OSN, by helping people know those important things. Shout out from Brazil.

    Great reaction! You've only scratched a small surface of how amazing Gojira are as musicians. Obviously, their biggest hit is Flying Wales, but also check out masterpieces like The Art of Dying, The Gift of Guilt, L'enfant Sauvage, Toxic Garbage Island, Backbone, Vacuity, Oroborus, Pray......I can literally keep going on and on. Every one of those songs I can put on repeat for hours.

    Discussions of deforestation aren't complete unless we also talk about American/European deforestation. We do it too. In the US, we deforested from 46% of our land covered by forests to just 33% of our land over ~200 years. From 1990-2010, we lost about 950,000 acres/year of forest. We've stabilized that since then, but should be doing much more to further protect & reforest the damaged land. So yes, Brazil has a big problem--particularly with its current government, who has backtracked on progress they made--and we're right to call that out. But we need to look ourselves in the mirror too.

Just don't look up anything about them before watching the video. They are really not well known, and it's a crime, they are way too good IMO to be as unknown as they are! If you enjoy them as much as I think Dare to Tame Me and Shouting Aloud are two more of my favorites. But definitely start with When the Enemy's Close

  • @phixed_days1481
    @phixed_days1481 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Unfortunately when you look at the science behind a lot of stuff, our need to clear rainforest to upkeep population is in fact, false.
    Not to mention, the majority of the grains grown are used to feed animals and not humans.
    We clear rainforest at the rate that we do, to ensure that our population always maintains a certain degree of surplus food, most of which ends up being binned.
    It's an honest captalist lie that our population is too large for the planet to sustain. The issue is, in fact, that our planet doesn't have enough farmland to maintain surplus needs from food corporations to continue to make profits.
    Whilst surplus keeps prices lower, the abundance of food and profits of selling them get higher. The real cost of that is that we use enough energy and resources that equates us to using 3 planet earths of resources, every year. It is a unsustainable model for a source that is very sustainable. Food is easily grown. We have the seeds, machinery, man-power and fertile lands to meet our needs. It's easy to obtain what we need without also catering a large fraction of it behind fed to animals to only be killed and it being hoarded by food companies.
    It's a perfect storm.
    The cost is our planet.
