    It is really a brave song about people struggling with alcoholism. The Green Serpent is an Eastern European metaphor for alcoholism. (Tatiana has posted about her sobriety). She and the band have a lot of talent and their compositions are driving the evolution of metal but it takes guts to expose one's struggles. Great reaction as always.

    Their growth is probably all of the things that you mentioned combined. I am 58 and the last years since covid I have also gone through a lot of changes on a personal level that makes me feel that I can relate to them . Also with the world on fire as it feels right now. With other bands I would nothave said this but with jinjer it somehow feels obvious and I would not have expected anything else. Good for them I say, keep it going. The same goes for you to, I think you make more sense than most out there.

    This is some of my favourite vocal melodic composition from Tati, & I love her extensive use of her *gorgeous* head voice to hit highs in this piece, a part of her vocal repertoire that we've heard very little of before now. The section with the combined guitar & bass tapping with great tom drum groove is incredible, & I love the Opethy outro. Even the stripped down, simple chuggy riffs in the last two heavy sections are a welcome addition, as Jinjer fans usually have to struggle to head bang to Jinjer's weird rhythms & unusual, shifting time signatures (which I also love, of course). This is a *great* song, destined to be a Jinjer classic, IMO.
    They've already performed this song live, and it sounds great!

    Thank you for the reaction!
    I'd mark that it's sad that Russia made the whole world to think their invasion and occupation of Donbass in Ukraine and Crimea annexation was just a cyvil local conflict and russians are just peacemakers. "Home Back" was released after they actually had lost normal lives, homes and relatives on the occupied territory. And it was after the invasion actually had begun. But, again, even in Ukraine many people start counting from 2022. While Moskow tried to occupy, and occupied, conducted genocide against their former metropoly (Kyiv and, thus, Ukraine) from the very beginning, for almost a thousand years.

      Also, YOU filmed it, but did you gush in your YT creator chats aka YT "employee" break/conference rooms lol. You know how it is, you come across bangers from under-covered bands, and you want to share it with others via seeing reactors get hold of it, but I don't have enough disposable income to flood request lists. Larkin poe, twelve foot, sone of the deep cuts that never get reacted to, rising appalachia, etc..I can think of several artists that are worth more exposure

    I completely agree about the band and their evolution. I do know that there has been downsides to that. I keep running into people in comments (a minority but still) who miss the old Jinjer. Their personal tastes in music align with that and so they don't understand the direction. I do understand and I know most long time Jinjer fans do but the changes in their life have been lost on some which is unfortunate. I try to remind people who express that that they still play those songs live, they are all still on TH-cam. It's not like they are ashamed of them. The band has been through a lot and they move on as artists.
    I spoke to one person who was under the impression that the lyrics for the new songs seemed like an afterthought and the music chaotic. I don't know how they get that honestly except that again the band has grown past their musical preferences. With me and with a lot of other fans our musical enjoyment stretches with the band but I guess not everyone is that way. I played a lot of different music during my music career so I'm basking in all this personally. The entire catalog is wonderful to me.
    You may have noticed that Tatiana has been commenting on the meaning of some of these songs lately. Probably a good idea since the lyrics seem to be over the head of some. To someone who follows the war in Ukraine closely the lyrics to Rogue are about as plain as it gets but of course that's not everyone. Someone's Daughter is pretty clear too but again lost on some. Tatiana is a strong, smart woman in a sea of male performers so I'm thinking "well duh" but go figure. I didn't get Kafka right away until I saw the Kafka books explained. Then someone put the lyrics into an AI model and the summary that it spit out made my respect for Tatiana go up another 100 points even though I thought it couldn't get any higher (damn she's smart). Then this song. A lot of fans were happy to hear when she had stopped drinking. I think she's at two years now. Eugene even longer. It's one thing to quit just because people around you beg you to but to quit because you don't like who you become when you drink and have all the other realizations they have about why it was bad, that is a recipe for success and I couldn't be happier to see it. Impressive people.

      Lol it's not about the life changes, although it is a partial reason at best......but as soon a vlad joined them they became a way more proggy band with jazz influence.......nobody was talking about jinjer doing jazz on cloud factory 🤣🤣....cloud factory is one of the most headbangable banger albums ever lol.....ppl who basically do not like prog sounding metal moved on.

    • @coder4liberty
      @coder4liberty 3 วันที่ผ่านมา +6

      @@davidjames6036 First of all that's your opinion which is fine but the childish mocking emojis and "Lol"s doesn't help your point. Vlad joining WAS part of the changes. I'm pretty sure you know what led to that change. A tragic accident which eventually led to Vlad joining. Might I remind you however that a great deal of King of Everything was ALSO jazzy and proggy and Vlad wasn't there yet. Tatiana is the one who wanted them to do Judgement and Punishment not Vlad. They were already moving in that direction. She wore dreadlocks for years for a reason and she was in other bands who did other music prior to Jinjer for a reason.
      When you get a record contract, things get real in your career and things change. When you get out of your early 20s and start stepping out of the little box (Eastern Europe) and step into the big box (world tours) things change. When your country is invaded and ~ a million of your neighbors lose their lives or their homes things change. Live with it.
      Tatiana and Eugene quit drinking because they had to. I played music professionally for 20 years part of it at the height of the 80s complete with the lifestyle that everyone talks about. I saw what it did to people and they either grew up and changed or they crashed. If you are that much of a fan of the old stuff you've probably also seen the old tour videos of some of them drinking so heavily that they are either unconscious or can barely function. THAT was part of the old days too. Easy for you to look back fondly about the music but they lived that and didn't want to continue. BTW Cloud Factory was ONE ALBUM.
      They ALWAYS had those influences. You don't just suddenly one day have them and magically know how to incorporate them in your art. Imagine being an artist and feeling like you have to play the same thing over and over again not because you want to but because people like you might complain. I've seen plenty of reactions to their old stuff and comments on videos of their old stuff which were to the effect "this is so early 2000s" as a negative. A Plus or a Minus is a great song but isn't what bands are in general doing now. I think this song is just as good because I'm not tethered to a single era of metal let alone any other kind of music.
      The fact is they can't satisfy everyone. If you don't like their new stuff don't listen. Nobody who does like it wants to hear it from you and they sure as hell don't care to have you mock them.

    Green Serpent is metaphorically referred to alcohol in russian. Bitten by green serpent in slavic tradition is symbolic of alcoholism and the depths of intoxication/addiction.....as for the song, the opeth outro is cool. Middle LOG breakdown is cool. Also kinda sounds like an angular proggy album cut on first listen, but quickly turns out to be a banger....also tati looks hot here 😂😂

      A lot of the songs on the album seem to be referring to the war since the music was mostly composed during and immediately after the siege of Kyiv which the guys were stick in.
