This is the best version of this hymn I've heard. It is joyful and upbeat and this is how we should praise our Triumphant King Jesus. "Christ Jesus Victor, Christ Jesus healer, Christ Jesus Lord and Redeemer!!!
Thanks for uploading - I was so glad to be able to participate in this group... an incredibly moving time that was captured; this closing hymn, being one of my favorites, has stuck with me and with new meaning. Thank you!
You have a Bunch of St Louis Connections here... First: the Festival Alleluia was written for the 1998 Papal visit of John Paul II to St Louis... Second: Monsignor Hellriegel who wrote "To Jesus Christ our Sovereign King"... was from St Louis (or rather migrated there from Germany) ... and of course Romeri, who was suppose to have directed all of this...
During WW1 on Christmas Eve, enemies on both sides of the trenches came out and sang the hymn "Silent Night". I think it is a good time to listen to and sing praise and thanksgiving hymns. Maybe pray like Moses did with hands held high til battles are over and peace in all lands. Mary, may your generous Immaculate heart triumph! Jesus, Lord and Savior, be loved by all nations!
@@truthunfolded1300 I don't think you're seeing the point behind his comment. I could be wrong though. There are lots of musicians and singers who are more than competent enough to perform for a Papal Mass, but how many of them get picked for the job? It's a very small fraction.
JESUS is our RULER, but as you know, when a ruler is away someone is appointed to rule the kingdom in His absence. We see this in Isaiah 22:22-29 when Eliakim is put in charge of the Jewish Kingdom..."and he shall be like a father to them." ( In charge of the household)To rebel against God's appointed is like Korah in Numbers 16 who rebelled against Moses. God chooses who He wants to lead. The Bible is an inspired Book to HELP. JESUS put a MAN in charge of His earthly kingdom until His return, and never even commissioned a Book. GBY
John Morissette, Thank you. You are SO right. All "cantors" everywhere should do that. I have been waiting many years for someone to do something about liturgical music, and important details such as the one you mention.
Way too triumphant ! We are the Church Militant, not the Church Triumphant, which is in heaven, not earth. Funny seeing Vigano, McCarrick, and Francis all on the altar at the same time before 2019 revelations.
It praises the TRIUMPH of Jesus Christ our Sovereign King, which is literally the title. The words….for in thy kingdom Lord Divine, ALONE WE FIND SALVATION. TO THEE and to thy Church Great King we pledge our hearts oblation. Where is theological error here? Oh and this song was written…by a priest…DECADES before VCII so don’t go there. If all you look for is faults, that’s all you’ll find. Like Luther, Calvin…Judas…. Pax tibi.

Beautiful Hymn
Perserverence. Peace. Joy
This is what heaven sounds like
This is what a papal mass sounds like.
How do you know what heaven sounds like. You been there and come back ? Humility please.
They were sure lucky to sing for and play the Instruments for this Mass
'Luck' is not a part of Christian teaching or doctrine. When we sing or play instruments, it is for God's glory not man

One of my favorite hymns and so beautiful when we see all these men clad in the green Mass robes who gave up everything to bring the Gospel to people.
