I usually go later at night but I was taking my parents there and they wanted to arrive at around 7pm. If you go at 9pm there's no more lines. Absolutely a gem. It was nice to visit again after the diet, I usually go 2 times a year.
Best pastrami and corn beef so good never tried the Reuben pastrami I gotta try that next I got pastrami and cheese was so good and I mixed cornbeef with pastrami very good I did work for the owners like 8yrs ago when they sold the property next door and they built a hotel next to it the owners son Jacob gave me pastrami eggs n cheese on a hero it was best breakfast I ever ate lol 9.8👌even there hot dogs are amazing best chili dogs you gotta try next time the chili dog🌭🌭your father wolfed that sandwich down glad he enjoyed it you got great parents! Great video.
@@pizzareviewsonthego If I went for Deli sandwich it would be Sal Kris and Charlies in Astoria or Sorrisos also in Astoria. Sorrisos has both hot and cold heroes. DeNiro is a huge fan of Sorrisos yeah Robert DeNiro.
been to katz many times. but on the island we had as close as we can get in GOLDENS. remember that place ant? was about as good as katz till it closed down. so was the chinese place next to or near it that johanson owned tiki somthing or whatnot. good chinese food there. island had some great fkn places.
Speaking of Harry Met Sally, Princess Leia had a small part in the movie as the actress Carrie Fisher was in the cast….of course she was not in the Leia character
Great Video with your family, my family and I ate there 4 years ago the sandwich was $20 and some change , but they give a lot of meat ,,, once a year treat … 👍🏽✅
WOW I didn't know they were open 24 hours. Antonio what time is it there? It's dark and there's still a line. Next time I'm in NY I have to try Katz at least once. I heard they are really expensive but I will pay if it's as good as they say.
Never been to the ‘flagship’, but did get some sandwiches (turkey and of course pastrami) at the kiosk (was same owner) at a mall in Brooklyn around 2017. Cost about $23 then. Of course quite expensive, but still worth it once in a blue moon………Harold’s in NJ kind of near Outerbridge also very good quality, a tad cheaper than Katz’s, and has more than ample parking as well as seating.
I'd like to visit Harold's sometime. I just don't like sliced Pastrami, it must be hand cut, which means that it's juicy and and tender and cannot be sliced.
It's a tourist trap for sure, but the food is quality. I plan on 2nd avenue. I want to try the Pastrami Sandwich at Hometown BBQ too, I've been there twice and never had it yet.
@@pizzareviewsonthego oh I'm not denying that the Katz's deli sandwich is quality, I've had it plenty of times, I just know of other places that are less hectic.
Glad everyone enjoyed it. I was always a thinly sliced guy, feel like the smaller pieces almost melt vs the hunks. I like corn beef sliced thicker but not Pastrami. 2nd Avenue Deli in Manhattan is a little better IMO. Both excellent food but Katz is a little tourist-trappy for me..
It's it's not hand cut then it's probably going to be dry. When they slice it on a slicer it's usually because it's not as tender and so it can be sliced, but yeah, the thinness makes up for it. I plan to try 2nd street some day and Sarge's.
We spilt a Pastrami Ruben on rye years ago for $22. One sandwich can definitely feed two people. Remembered the delicious and crisp kosher dill pickles 🥒 Houston St. = Houseton St? That I didn't know. What's wrong with you people? Lol 😆
Well supposedly the street was originally named after William Houseton, but the city messed up and forgot it's history. The signs read "Houston," and not Houseton. Here's an article about it. www.nytimes.com/2017/01/26/nyregion/houston-street-pronounce.html
I did a Top's Diner review on my other channel, and I reviewed pizza in Newark before lol. I've branched out before. lol Hobby's looks good. I want to go to Sarge's next...or 2nd street.
@@pizzareviewsonthego oh I forgot that had it twice. Once was high 8s but the other time the crust was too dense like they cut the proofing way short. Regular slice places are pretty grim in Downtown.
I have never been there...shame on me. Passed by a million times. I learned the best time to avoid the lines is when it opens in the AM. I will probably do that and have a hearty breakfast. Not into all of those lines.
I don't have issues with crowds and lines but my dad was overwhelmed a bit, until he started to eat the sandwich and then just went into the zone lol I forgot to ask them to cut the pastrami thick. They can do that and if you tip the cutter they usually put more meat on the sandwich. I only ate half. I then ate the other half the next day for breakfast. I think every New Yorker should visit this place at least once. Parking on W Houston is free after 7PM. The line went fast, around 15 minutes or so. Finding a table took some time but you just have to go with someone that will stand near a table and sit as soon as someone leaves.
All said & done; this being maybe the 12,750th review of Katzs, you really didn't add anything new to the TH-cam commentary! For $30 with tax it should be a super sandwich! I have visited NYC many times over the last 60 years & have eaten super pastrami sandwiches at restaurants cheaper than $30! Katz's is for the tourists! Nice that Mom & Pop paid for your food😅
Well, what can I say, I did walk around the whole place and didn't just show the sandwich. I just wanted to convey ambiance. Yes, and I bought the pastries at Veniero's.
Oh yeah, so many people were asking us what the sandwich was. They didn't know what to order. lol. Sandwich was excellent, so tasty. Matzoh ball soup was great too and their pickles are the best. I took home a pound of their salmon lox too, which is on par with Russ and Daughters.
If you go during off hours it won’t really feel like a tourist trap. I think after the Carnegie Deli closed, Katz got extra busy. If I remember correctly in the old days, the Carnegie Deli was the big popular spot while Katz was less known
Some great looking food there. Really good portions. Cheers, Antonio! 👍🏻👍🏻✌️
Always a pleasure to visit this place. Thanks Dwayne for the comment.
Now that's a sandwich. Looks more filling than five portions of Lembas bread.
Looks like the cold weather's kicking in.
Oh It was delicious. Yeah, it's dropping down to 45F in the wee hours of the morning but it's still around 70F or so in the day.
Good to see Antonio’s mom going out for the evening. I agree their pickles are excellent. An underrated item. Might be the best pickles
A lot of pickles are metallic and have an aftertaste. Not these, they were delicious. They give you a whole pile of half sours and sours on the house.
Wow.. always been fortunate to not catch the line outside.. may have waited 30 min inside. A local gem.

I've never had a reuben there, but it looks incredible! I should've expected nothing less coming from Katz's.
The corned beef sandwich is usually ordered Reuben style, but I enjoy the pastrami reueben.
God bless you and your parents. Great to have healthy parents. Everyone should have their parents to 150 years old!!
Best pastrami sandwich I ever ate.
Great looking munchie!
Cherish every minute with your parents.

Their Salmon Lox is also super. I don't usually have hot dogs but I'll try one from here next time.
Pastrami egg n cheese was best on a hero it was amazing!!
Hey Antonio another good review
I agree too thick
Where in sicily your family from?
Catania, both parents and basically all of my family are from there on both sides. Most still live there.
The last time I was there most of their customers were tourists. I recently tried Joeys Pizza in Maspeth, they got a delicious Sesame seed crust.
I'm due for a trip to Queens again. Yeah, they were all tourists. I was asking everyone if they were from New York. Many were.

Wow, I never expected to see a security officer at a deli.
They are everywhere in the urban areas now.
At 6:36 that meat looks SOOOOO GOOD!!!! 🤤

Its a shame they slice off the bark and toss thay first slice
I never understood why they discard the bark. Perhaps it's too salty. They leave a little bit on there.
