@@gregdolecki8530 it seems like most of the old trucks on the road are Mack’s, which is no surprise they were overbuilt and all business. There are bunches of R’ and like you said even some B models. I love the heavy spec built models like the DM ‘s, what a beast and what I learned in. Twin sticks and 15 gears to choose from lol. It had a 300 plus turned to up 400 and #65k lb bogies under it so it was no speedster but damn would it pull anything.
I always thought that too. I loved these trucks when I was a kid, I like the style and the grill the only problem was they were aluminium and could get damaged a bit at the mounting area depending on drivers, terrain etc.
It's nice to see videos of these old trucks brought back from the dead and some even going back to work. When I started driving trucks in 1977 there were more Transtars on the road than I could count. This one even has one of those engines that whistles. Great memories.
I drove a 1980 Trans star 10 speed with Cummins. Truck was a truck. No computers no emmisions junk. Run forever. The teuck is still running today as a local hauler. Its road days are behind it now.
Thats a good looking rig and sounds just awesome , We had a 1976 transtar 2 350 cummins , They are great trucks wish i would have kept it , Good video !
Started on a 71 cabover gmc.. back than anytime we were in winter cold weather startup. We always pushed in the clutch just to give less resistance on the starter no need to spin input shaft and all that cold 90 140 weight in the trans... and some of our trucks had compression release and would pull that ring chain get motor spinning and slowly engaged the valves.... ahhh the good ole days..
Ese international es una belleza belleza de tractor me imagine cummins 350 0 400 big cam era lo normal pero esta Bello creo que hace unos dias estaba en market place de Facebook si es ese me ganaron felicitaciones
A little bit of information probably not everybody realizes the 78 and up had a deeper cab than the 77th and down. Look above the door on the trim there is a little trim spacer between the front trim and the back Trim in the cab above the door that's how much they stretch the cab. A 77 and down did not have that little spacer, front and rear tram came together. Plus the 77s had 2 top and 2 bottom handrails. 78 they had to leave the bottom rear handrail off because it was in front of the toolbox door. In 1978 I drove for a man that owned one of each. You wouldn't think that little bit of space in the cab would make that much difference but it was more comfortable.
O-H-I-O Porter greetings 🇺🇸 Wasn’t that thing plugged in overnight? WOW, what cranking! Sounded good though. Cabovers Rule! We had one that had the old 238 Detroit. What a sound that had when cold starting it! WOW! 🥰😎✌️
A friend of mine let me drive his when first started driving in the seventies and I loved how it handled 318 Detroit 13 speed underdrive, it steered nice and the transmission shifted really nice.
I heard of one broker with a 4070B Transtar who complained the throttle linkage on his Cummins Big Cam was pushed down whenever he turned left. So the engine always revved up during a left turn.
That's correct. If you have or know anyone that has pictures of the ol' truck in action, I'd love to have them.. We are planning to do some restoration to the truck and tank wagon and head to some shows.
Drove a lot of miles in one those old transtars. Big cam 350 13 speed. Spent many nights sleeping on the dog house cause it was too hot in the sleeper. Good old days.
Every start is necessary cold, warm, hot.... We just bought the rig and was moving it to our current location... just a video to show and put more history for this ol' piece...
@@cdl9239 indeed could? possibly be. Was 1977 when they phased out the small cam Cummins and made the big cam 1983 when they switched it out for the NTC motor

Purdy nice looking truck
CRST had a bunch of these Internationals models they were a great looking truck. 1:09 ❤
The Iconic truck of the '70s
This and the Freightliner’s were the cabovers to have.
The Mack B-Series were also still going strong then.

Best looking design of any cab over truck
Je ne dirais pas le meilleur mais d'un autre style pour bien différencier des autres marques 😉

4070B. Good work trucks back in the day. Worked on many of them.

C'est quoi comme power ?
you mean it has one of those engines that got a turbo
Little Cummings 😂
Great sound, that ole Cummins coming to life. You couldn't name a truck "Trans Star" nowadays without freaks freaking out. 😮
My dad had a mid 70s transtar with a Detroit in it was a good ole semi
Hey man, she still good😊
Power 2 Temps ?
Un moteur qui serait interdit aujourd'hui vu le bruit ! 😂😂
My favorite cabover
Rain caps, black smoke 13 speed corn picker, love em

Love these cabover tractors!

Magnifique véhicules

Oh my how did they start those old Cummins Small Cans and Big Cams in the winter? They hated cold starts!
Gorgeous classic!!!
I used to haul swing beef in one like that good old rig just cool sleeping in .
Nice Rig

Sweet
That tank is priceless, I hope you got it
Yes indeed, we picked the whole unit as one. Keeping it together, I'm going to do some well need tlc restoration and hit some shows soon!
Nice 👍
Thanks ✌
Show ,here in Brazil ,I have an International 9800 ,with a Cummins NTA 855 ,Big Cam III
Ole 13 letter shit spreader!!! Keep Trucking!!!!
And an Allis in the drive! Stay safe.
Good ol binder

Let see some video of this truck going down the highway and going through the gears
Learned on and got my CDL with one
My 1st truck was a trans star
Nice truck. Rode around in one just like it pulled a milk tank. Too bad trucks are what they are today
You got that right
Is it for sale my dad had one of those
Not for sale, We just bought this one ourselves this same day.
Transtar ❤
That truck belonged to south Berkeley vol fire dept in Inwood Wv
I was going to say I knew it came from Berkeley county I just didn’t remember the name of the department.
That's correct. If you have or know anyone that has pictures of the ol' truck in action, I'd love to have them.. We are planning to do some restoration to the truck and tank wagon and head to some shows.
Will It Start, 1978 International Super Tanker
Come on you old Detroit
Easy start down the air filter

What's the top side red rotators for?
@nemesisx Was once a fire department owned Super Tanker/Water.
I drove one of those 4070 COEs in the mid 70s. I hated it !
what kind of engine does this truck have
Little Cummings
If you would have plugged it in would have gone off sooner than that. Cold starts make no sense unless absolutely necessary.
Every start is necessary cold, warm, hot.... We just bought the rig and was moving it to our current location... just a video to show and put more history for this ol' piece...
Покажите им как наш ямз 238 заводиться
350 Cummins🤔
Хорошо заводиться, но-долго
Заводится хорошо но долго 🤣🤣🤣
That' old
Old east coast saying To fast for plowing to slow for trucking
IS THAT AN 855 CUMMINS
Yeah that's what it sounds like.
Didn't quite sound like a small cam 290.
I'll say a 400
@@cdl9239 indeed could? possibly be.
Was 1977 when they phased out the small cam Cummins and made the big cam 1983 when they switched it out for the NTC motor
If it were a small cam the driver would have used the compression release to get it to spin over faster.
@@VHP7044 we had four transtars I don't remember seeing or using a compression valve just starting fluid
Come on with the spray
Cold starts is the worst thing you can do for your truck especially if that is all you are going to do.
Give it some ether
