- The Race of Gentlemen is a popular traditional hot rod and early motorcycle drag race originally held on the beach in Wildwood, New Jersey. In the past couple years the race has expanded to be held in several different places on the west coast. This time, TROG was held at Flabob Airport in Riverside, California. The historic venue and early hot rods made for a very cool experience. It was great to see a lot of out of state hot rods competing in the drag race. This video features some highlights from the pre-1964 car show, as well as footage from the return road and the pits. Thanks to the organizers of TROG for coming out from the east coast to host this very cool event.

Great video as usual with some killer Hot rods. I M O this Bonneville numbers on the side poser thing is really getting over done.
This video does not show it but , most of the cars with numbers on them actually competed in 1/8 drag races the following day. Those weren’t just “poser” numbers. They were assigned by the event organizers.
@@jeremyeves2614 Those shown are painted on,this has been a trend for quite some time in this style of build.
@@396M21 Not true in this case. One of the participants had their young daughter paint the numbers on many of the racers so the announcer could keep track of who was racing.
@@twinrodders Yes, true. As you said "one" of the participants. I have watched other videos of the event and the numbers are a permanent part of the theme of the build as are the vintage style helmets.

I like the racing numbers whether it is being over done or what, I guess as everything gets fashionable it gets overdone, but that has been the same story since hot rodding started, I guess at some stage someone said "Flames " are over done too ! Or pinstriping, or whatever. I wonder what the next trend will be, probably 70s style hot rods 🤣
