  • Turkish Airlines will return to Tokyo Narita this December, according to Aeroroutes. The Star Alliance member last served the route in - you guessed it - March 2020. The airline will supplement its existing once daily Tokyo Haneda operation, meaning that Istanbul Airport-Tokyo will rise up to twice daily, a frequency last seen in early 2016.

    Even more confusing: Delta and American each fly to at least three entirely different Springfield’s. I’ve been on one of those flights where a passenger realized they were going to the wrong one.

      Both Haneda and Narita will get you to Tokyo, that is the bottom line.

      I was a hotel gm in Portland, Maine. The amount of people that booked themselves in Portland, Oregon was honestly amazing to me; what was really great was Oregon is usually significantly cheaper; Many times it was those folks that went out of their way to find a cheap room and they end up seeing a lower rate and not even realize they were booking the same hotel brand just literally on the wrong side of the country. Fortunately we were always able to help them but this does happen.

    How is it confusing? Plenty of airlines have flown to both haneda and narita…. These two are pretty well known, kind of like jfk and newark or london heathrow vs others…

    Had a connection flight in 2019 that arrived in Haneda and left in Narita both with JAL. At first I didn't notice that the flights were in different airports because It just had tiny prints below the flight number saying Haneda and the other Narita. It was a good thing we had 6hrs worth of layover since it takes 2hrs to travel between them.

    How is this confusing? When was the last time someone accidentally landed at Heathrow instead of London Airport?

      There's a docu series called "Heathrow: Londons Busiest Airport." In one episode, a Customer Service person had to deal with an Indian Guy who bought tickets to Gatwick and landed in Heathrow. He was extremely rude over the mistake and demanded to be sent there despite physically deplaning.

      If by “London Airport” you mean London City, the answer is likely zero due to the restrictions on LCY, but Narita and Haneda are two huge, international airport, so those might be confused by inexperienced travellers. But those could lose their way in a restroom anyway.

    Turkish Airlines’ incident record over the past five years has been outstanding and has resulted in the airline’s safety rating being lifted from five-star to the highest seven-star rating.

    • @vondahe
      @vondahe ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Is that a fact? It’s the only airline I’ve flown where pax were allowed wander around during taxiing and takeoff, as well as change seats without consulting the cabin crew, thus potentially affecting the balancing.
      I’ve admittedly only seen this once because I decided that was not an airline for me, but it made a huge impression that cabin crew made no efforts whatsoever to stop or address these safety violations.
      Perhaps things have changed since then (2008).

    Many airlines have been doing that for years. I flew from my home town to HND and returning from NRT (and VV) on the same airline many times myself because the departure time fits my schedule better. So I find it quite convenient.

    Turkish Airlines is an okay airline. I've flown with them this summer from LAX-IST and back on both their 787-9 Dreamliner and 777-300ER. Wish them all the best on these brand-new routes! I think they'll send a 787-9 to NRT and a 777-300ER to HND since both of these aircraft are suitable for long-haul routes. They could send an A350-900 as well.
