Azir is not the hardest NOW but he was before. Azir was the OG champion with essays in their skill but lately most champion release have that. He has a fairly high learning curve but overcome that floor and you already basically play at somewhat same level as higher tier players. The difference comes from decision making on using your skills and combo. Do you Shuffle? Do you poke with Q? Where do I put the soldier? Do I need 2? etc. But as said, once you get over that skill floor, the ceiling will be just how and when you make use of those skills.
While I do think that Azir is the hardest champ to master in league. I don't really agree with how you make him sound like it's next to impossible for a non-pro to play him successfully. It's not THAT hard to play him decently. Sure the Shurima Shuffle is quite difficult to do well, but often you don't even need to. Below diamond his ult is often just used defensively, like an Anivia wall that does damage.
Shows a silly play from Body Those Fools (4:57) and probably the worst Azir play I've ever laid my eyes on from i0ki (8:29). Also a decent example of Azir range from Body at 12:10. Glad to see the For Fun Squad making it in here XD
Master Yi is even more difficult. That's why you don't see pros play him. Because playing him mid level is okay but to excel with him and win pro games is difficult.
Unsure if it's because Faker at the start wasn't an Azir player, but was a known Ahri Ryze Le Blanc player, hence why Ahri and Le Blanc got Faker skins while Azir didn't? Not a rito dev, no clue what their thought process was, but yea I do agree it should've been Azir. Faker's most played champ in proplay versus his 2nd most played in proplay is just massive difference in number of games, but I guess at the same time Faker's Ahri games are just different when it's Worlds?
