The fact that Phase 3 Skip was found just so randomly is so amazing to me, like it's something no one would have thought to try. Same with the door skip in Mastermind Part 1. Some of my favorite Speedrun breakthroughs are the ones that people just fall into
For whatever reason youtube has been recommending me random night of 100 frights speed running and I honestly couldn’t be more happy with it. I’m so glad to see so many people love this game as much as I do I never got to play colosseum as a kid but games like this honestly Make up for it.
I love how this video started off with lore of Tim Currys role as Ben Ravenscroft in Scooby-Doo and the witches ghost not sure why but that adds to the overall charm of this very informative video
not even halfway through the vid yet but i love speedrun and history of speedrun vids and this is genuinely one of the best i’ve seen in a while i love this so much good stuff man
Man i love this,me and my brother are huge fans of scooby doo nights of a 100 frights, and we love to see a community pour so much time and effort into this game
Man, I remember discovering that glitch at 6:14 way far back in like 2008ish. I genuinely believed that it was just a common trick everyone knew about, but the speedrun community didn't discover it until 2012? Honestly, that just makes me curious about what other sort of glitches might be hiding in plain sight that some other players know about but don't bring attention to.
You should do more videos like these if there is more to be able to make. I've been in the Scooby Speedrun discord community for I think a year now and watching the creepy early discovery video and this one has made me want to try to possibly speedrun the game or at least give speedrunning it a chance. Overall great video 👍
Just recently i saw one your speedruns, and was stunned, this game was a fever dream and i was so confused on how this game could be finished in under 3h, it is insane what the speed run community manages to do. I remember playing this game an awful lot as a child, but literally no one remembers this game, i 100%ed it at least 20 times before school age, but the interesting thing is, this glitch at 14:22, i discovered it too almost 20 years ago, probably running away from that blue man, since i remember being plain out too dumb to kill those, but i skipped that shark quest in at least half my runs. Similar thing with glitching through walls and early teleporting in the fish village, tho this sometimes happened by accident trying to safe myself. I vaguely remember something like this also happening in that ship level before the pirate boss and being able to make the boss disappear... Watching speedruns just lets me realize on how many glitches i indeed semi knowingly used. This makes me wonder, how many glitches did people playing this game years ago actually find? And how many of those are "unknown" by the community today? How different would my playthrough from 2005 look from peoples playing glitchless? Im certain i would use technics and glitches without even knowing that... might get an emulator and play this gem again.
14:15 Disappointed this hasn't been attempted any sooner. Just, jump into the door repeatedly. Really should be the first thing these glitch hunters need to do.
Other people had tried to do that but no one had done with the dpad, most people didn't use the dpad for anything at all apart from maybe map navigation.
I love these kinds of vids. It's so cool to learn the history of the game. Night of 100 frights will always hold a special place in my heart. I can remember the first time I finished the game in 2003. It is crazy how much this game has evolved since it was first made. I am not a speedrunner myself. But I have enjoyed learning the skips and tricks you show, like the pier and creepy early. That was so cool. The downside is I don't have an original Xbox anymore so the game crashes on the 360.
Half expected the final boss to be Matt Turk. Glad it was Tim Curry. I hope he's looking down with pride on Scooby-Doo speedrunners from the one place that hasn't been corrupted by capitalism... Space!
idk why am i getting recommended these videos, as i never even had ps2 or any console this game was on in my life (my guess this has something to do with Velma show situation), but i love listening to speedrunning history while playing other games, so i am glad i got here
How can you put out videos so good and _only_ have 445 subscribers?! These video are amazing quality for such a small channel! As a side note, I hated this guy as a kid, it took me ages to figure out that you're supposed to push him into the electricity. I just though he would die if I hit him enough times.
i remember discovering that button in one of my vids and wishing i could press it lol, DAMN IT REALLY DO NOTHING?? L great vid as always :3 edit: that phase 3 skip blew my mind & i love the music choice
You remind me of Po from Kung Fu Panda. Both of your Scooby Skip Docs that I’ve watched started with you as an outside force/observer who learned the names, styles, and victories of all the greats. Then, you yourself abruptly enter the narrative and act as the “chosen one” through your dedication to the craft and knowledge. Not once but twice you descended into the group you’d studied and changed the game completely. This is only formulated using the narrative structure of your videos, I don’t know your life or interests outside of these two docs.
I really enjoy this type of content from you. Even more than your speedruns! Have you thought of doing a video series on this game and its many aspects? Like a video detailing its history and development. A video going over game mechanics and the inner workings of the game? Heck Id love to watch a video just on game assets or something! Keep up the great work!
For some reason on my GameCube version, the warp gate right before the Green Ghost battle is always unlocked. You can skip the entire graveyard section but I’ve never seen this anywhere else online.
Once you activate the warpgate in Crypt part 3 this also activates the warpgate next to Green Ghost due to an oversight. So thats probably what you are talking about unless you managed to warp to Green Ghost earlier?
@@-Mortal You’re 100% right. I went back and replayed the game to check this out and it only happens once I get to Crypt pt. 3. Never seen anyone talk about it before, still neat though!
Damn, how do you only have 421 subs??? Your videos are so good, I love watching your speedruns on this game and videos like these, plus the views you get I thought you'd have way more subs, well I'm gonna be 422 because I love your videos
Fantastic video! I love that there's always more to know about this game. I only have one question: where did you get that black Knight boss music instrumental?
@@-Mortal Tim Curry playing a villain in a sequel to Zombie Island, declined to play the villain to a movie that is a blatant ripoff of Zombie Island, voiced a villain to Night of 100 Frights, the game itself being a precursor to Monsters Unleashed, which featured Scott McNeil, the voice of Dr. Wily from the Mega Man cartoon series, created by Ruby-Spears Productions, the two namesakes, Joe Ruby and Ken Spears, helped develop Scooby-Doo. Coincidence? I think NOT!!!
Why isn't phase 3 skip in the routes for CE Any% & just Any%? Or maybe I just missed it because both runs ended with your current WR's in both categories pushing the Mastermind in the electricity. Although I don't understand much about it, can you still enlighten me?
Phase 3 skip doesnt skip pushing mastermind into the electricity, it skips the third wave of enemies that we used to fight before this year. Now we only fight one wave of enemies compared to the intended three
Just a suggestion for the future - if a Run goes from 2:40 to 0:40, it's probably not because of a single boss skip. Just mention some things, because this is confusing if you haven't played it or tried speedrunning.

I did not expect to hear Resurrections or Reach for the Summit when I clicked on this video, but excellent taste!
didn't see any other comments mention this, but Tim Curry did NOT turn down the role in scooby doo because of scrappy doo. it's just a rumor.

Scooby Doo flights 100 enemies

hey what is the music that starts at around 9:50? it sounds so familiar and it's driving me crazy.
Mario 64 File Select (Piano Version by Bismuth)
Has creep early been deemed illegitimate?
no, its just a separate leaderboard on speedrun.com compared to no creepy early runs
Very interesting
Whats the background music for 6:44 please?
