- Is Bradford really the most dangerous city in the UK? Bradford is a city with a lot of potential, well known for its diversity. In fact, the people of Bradford are very nice and resilient. That has been the picture of this city which is also a local government district in West Yorkshire. This metropolitan borough covers a large area that includes the towns and villages of Bingley, Denholme, Haworth, Ilkley, Keighley, Queensbury, Shipley, Silsden, and Thornton. Its geographical location and population are encouraging enough to make it a good place to live. Its delicious food, impressive architecture, and exceptional friendliness are also nice things about this city.
Unfortunately, in many recent polls, Bradford has continued to be ranked as the most dangerous city in the UK. Despite how great this city can be, lingering memories of the 2001 race riots have changed its reputation. Since the outbreak of the three-day riot that led to deaths and hundreds of arrests, the country’s attention has been on how safe Bradford is compared to how safe it can be. Let us try and tell you what we know.
Why Hated
We can’t mention every reason for the complaint and hatred surrounding the name of this city. Yet, we may start with the poor nightlife in Bradford. You have to travel far to see any semblance of social life. Could it be that the people in Bradford are not comfortable with the heavy presence of druggies such that they come to an unspoken agreement not to support nightclubs?
Whatever! Drug addicts are there in this city brandishing their drugs and showing off in the posh cars that they bought with the proceeds of the illegal business. Because of an environment with the proliferation of drugs and those other social vices, you would expect the city to be dangerous, won’t you?
Crime Rates Compared to the National Average
How do the crime rates in Bradford compare to the national average? Bradford's crime rate is currently 185 percent higher than the national average, viewed as a whole. Of the towns, cities, and villages in England, Wales, and Northern Ireland, Bradford is the third most dangerous city.
In a recent year, the rate of increase in crime in Bradford seems to be 30 percent lower than the rate of increase in the national average. However, violent crimes in Bradford are 76 percent of the year’s national average. In Bradford, there is a 1 in 62 chance of becoming a victim of violent crime. It is the violent crime that makes up 41 percent of all crimes reported in the postcode area.
According to a reliable source, between May 2021 and April 2022, 42.9 percent of all crimes committed in the area were violent. This is at 177 percent of the national crime rate. For example, theft from the person was the fastest growing crime during that period and it increased by 45.8% over the last twelve months. For England, Wales, and Northern Ireland as a whole, the third most dangerous city, according to yet another statistic, is Bradford. It is also the 256th most dangerous place out of all towns, cities, and villages in the three regions of the United Kingdom.

It's a great place to live if you are a Muslim with Pakistani origins. I was born in Bradford in 1971. I had enough and moved to Cornwall in 1997 as I felt like I was living in Pakistan. It was not safe back then and was a ghetto. I cannot imagine what it is like now.

Heroin imported directly from Pakistan & Afghanistan to sell to the locals and make profits is the main problem in Bradford, causing a massive breakdown in society over the past 40 years, corruption is rife at most levels. I’d never go back there.
Many people in the communities around Bradford have become very rich through dealing hard drugs. Not enough has been done to stop this and many are showing off their wealth. It is as if they are above the law.

Born and bred there, left to live in London for 20 years (loved it), moved back, most depressing and worse move that I have done in my life. Moved to Leeds 2 years ago and can now breathe. I lived there 10 years and was home-burgled 3 times a year on average.. plus car break-ins. 17 years in the US and not burgled once. I do have a machine gun so perhaps that is a factor. I got on well with the Brown people in Bridfud as I do with the Black people in Milwaukee..

The social services dept came under the spot light because of the murder of a little girl by her mother's partner. It was reported that the stuff going on in this smaller city is far worse than other much larger cities. It is shocking, the depravity, complete cesspit. I never felt safe there 20 years ago. Went back recently, saw beggars, injured people, rats, rubbish. Actually, that is an improvement on what I saw 20 years ago

Holmewood/Buttershaw/leeds road
I'm from Bradford ,, if you don't know what's going on in Bradford then you would think it's alright but if you know people and you know what's going on then it can be scary , half of the people you talk to don't know what's going on, it's the younger generation that just don't give a f#@k these days, everyone who does wrong in Bradford seems to be competing against one another, it's a mixed race town and they just don't get on very well, it is a bad place to live but I wouldn't say it's the worst but it is getting there. If you don't know people then you will get shit on sometime in your time being there,,,too many druggies which causes a lot of criminals and violence.

best thing i ever did was move away 3 years ago, i was born there, but the entire place is a hell on earth, don't be fooled by the city centre, take a walk around buttershaw, holmewood or manningham, especially at night. the whole place wants levelling, along with the majority of people who exist there!

I lived in Bradford for 3months during my masters degree.In that short time I got followed/stalked four times sometimes even by men in cars. I was verbally abused. On one walked someone shouted some very intimidating language.I was very scared living there.This was around 15 years ago.Sounds like the stats are even worse now.Such a shame as there is also lots of beautiful things about the city
Yes it’s not safe place for women , the men particularly Asian British men are stalkers and very intimidating, the government needs to do more to protect the women of Bradford

I've lived in BD7 for five years and only heard about a couple stabbings with some closed roads, but never seen anything in all that time besides a small fist fight on Morley Street...
Bradford ain't that bad, but there's little to no night life and most if not all women there are either ninjas or too chonky for my taste... + the place is full of trash since lots of people come from places where they're used to treating the streets like a garbage can, which makes things very sad, seeing all streets littered with takeaway boxes and cans, rats running around comfortably and stuff...when you drift outside the center, most neighbourhoods just don't look all that welcoming and it's sad to see, because England is a beautiful place, but the foreigners coming in with bad habits seem to ruin a lot... when I stepped outside and went to see York, Liverpool, Leeds, it felt like I stepped out into another universe lol

The statistics in Bradford do speak for itself! The city is full of drugs, and high adverse childhood experiences. Lack of employment and opportunities have led to the rise in drug dealing. Lack of reporting of crimes is an issue ! More can be done to end violence in the city
. The local newspaper always report on crimes in the city. The conservatives cut important resources such as funding for youth services and that’s had an impact on the city.
I live here and over the last 30 years it's changed to the point it's unrecognisable, especially over the last 5 years.

I have been living in Bradford for all of my life (I'm 10 btw) and the amount of crimes is not good for the children who are raised in the area .I suggest you do not go to Great Horton in Bradford. Druggies everywhere and lots of gangs they have fights in parks where CHILDREN go.Buttershaw is just a place where old people live in bungalows so that's alright . The schools are the worst in this city I mean I wish I was an American child because at this point it would be better for me.

The city centre does need some work, but I don’t think Bradford is the most dangerous city in England, or the UK, just look at some places like Rotherham, much worse than Bradford.

Idk. I was living in Bradford for a while. Never had any problems day and night. Mostly I was in BD1 or 7 if it’s important. Now I’m living in Liverpool. That is criminal shit hole. Never was feeling so unsafe and was checking what time sun is going down 😂
I don’t think this is simply an issue of race in Bradford. Some of the roughest areas I’ve visited or experienced were deprived white areas, such as Holmewood, Buttershaw and yes parts of Shipley such as Windhill.
Asian areas have many issues however there has been improvements in recent years. Sadly, these improvements, such as an increase in an educated class emerging, will remain overshadowed by young Asian lads driving recklessly, involving themselves with drugs and partaking in violence. Within the Asian community, young Asian lads remain the big issue, with their wannabe gangster attitude.
If parents parented their children better, much of these problems would cease to exist and real change would come. Ask any reasonable adult from Holmewood about the root of the community’s issues, and they’ll tell you it’s the youth and the lack of parenting and discipline.
Also what isn’t mentioned often is that Bradford is the UK’s youngest city. Rebellious or anti-social cultures and ideas, historically speaking, emerge from and are tailored towards the youth. Perhaps this has something to do with the crime statistics in Bradford? It’s a young population with problems arguably typical of youngsters, driving its crime statistics.
White chavs are a problem for White people yes, but adding multiple races into the mix it becomes an entirely different problem, one that never needed to happen in the first place. Long story for another day, but its a (((kosher))) one lets say.
I happily and safely walk through predominantly asian communities day or night without worrying. Would I do the same with Holmewood? Not in a million years. Even in the daytime. I have a lot of Asian friends here. I also get on incredibly well with all the cab and minicar drivers too and it's usually the cab and taxi drivers that get the rough end of the deal by getting bricks thrown through their car windows when driving through 99% white areas.
It happens so frequently that there is now no go areas for taxis. You simply will not get a taxi dropping you off anywhere near some places.

I live in Halifax I regularly go to Bradford I've been visiting Bradford for 40 years I've never had any problems. I've also worked in charity in Bradford problems is the education system have given children too much freedom under sixteen are like royal kids they go and do what they like knowing they can't be arrested so that's the first problem.then there is houseing problems and more
