I think it would be cool with a 800 2 stroke and a 155-163 inch track, it would be unbeatable in the mountains. You could carve in between trees that nothing else could, you have the light weight and you don't have to hop over the seat to change directions. The mountain guys would love this.
Experienced dirt biker here, have ridden rented snow bikes in CO, the problem with them in powder and at elevation even a 450cc MX bike engine, that would rip your arms off in a dirt bike, feels very put upon. I had that poor 450 pinned and revved out a lot! To be fair I was over 10K elevation and riding in crotch deep powder on a rented machine, which got ridden like a rental! In contrast, the Polaris 800 powder sled we had along had stupid ski lofting and truly scary scenery blurring effortless power that the elevation and deep conditions seemingly did little to blunt. That twin cylinder snowmobile engine would be violently fast at sea level. The single ski on a snowbike wanders a lot in hardpack but is great in soft snow as along as you carry more speed than shown in this video, as speed brings stability. I imagine this machine isn't much different. The "wandering" single ski really is no big deal if the rider has any skill at all and they can go fast enough for the ski to "come in" and take a set and work properly. The single ski has traits to deal with, but on the snow bike anyway, it was all part of the fun, but I'm not sure if this machine has adequate power to make all that happen. It did look like it was going pretty good starting at around 4:05 with perhaps a little more in it. Pin it to win it - lemme hammer on that thing, I'll tell ya 😆 Yep, drop a 300cc two stroke 6 speed dirt bike motor in there and this could be extremely interesting. Of course having a 52HP water cooled 2T engine in there would make this expensive, and not sure how the gear shifter would work out either.
Sorry guys, i made one 20 years ago. 250 twin Elan chassis. Single ski up front from a skidoo alpine with wide cover. No seat with gripy truck mudflap and extended steering post. It was fun.
THIS WILL BE GREAT TO REPLACE THE SMALL ELAN THAT YOU COULD GO ANYWHERE THROUGH THE WOOD HAVING FUN NICE AND LIGHT WEIGHT , BETTER THAN THE WIDE OPEN TRAILS FOR FUN .. YOU CAN/T GET A SMA LL SLED ANYMORE . LIKE THE TUNDRA AND BRAVO TRAPPER LIGHTWEIGHTS .
I bought one a couple months ago It now has 12 hrs of beating the doors off riding , I replaced the stock limit strap with a stronger one after snapping it no issue since. These things are fun definitely get two of them though
I wonder if this would be something that can be used to create a groom trail for Fat Bikes. Perhaps make a few passes to (or loops) to flatten (packing) as well as widen a nice trail network for the Fat Bikes to cruise overtop. Anyone out there try this?
cool invention. I can't help but think that some sort of setup where mountain bike downhill platform pedals were incorporated so you could really use your feet to help steer the bike (as one would do with a mountain bike) would really make this thing go to the next level.
In a world where being the "first" at something is next to impossible, this is epic!!! I live in New England, and these would be a giant hit. If the price is right.
@@sleigh4019 A "snow bike" kit starts at 8 grand. Thats just the kit. You have to have a bike already, so another 7-10 grand. Now it has to be put together. Most cant do it, so another 2 grand to a mechanic. So, a snow bike, at 20 grand, or a ready to go out of the box "stand up sled", for half that...... Pretty simple to figure it out........
Seems like this would require skill to balance since it's not on wheels. With a motorcycle the laws of physics apply so that you don't need to try to balance since as long as you're going more than 10 miles per hour the bike balances itself, because the rotation of the wheels it wants to stand up. This however doesn't have 2 wheels so those laws of physics, inertia would not apply here.
I Love the fact they are nice and narrow , like Surfing on snow , very Flexible , You miss judge in between a couple of Trees with a ski-doo and the tree wins. RIP
Looks like it would make for the perfect electric sled. Low to the ground center of gravity and it would be super quiet. Having to stand all the time on the machine means you dont need that much battery power to go the distance people want.
With a lazy 250 motor, probably not a whole lot. I think it would do stellar with something like a 450-600cc powerplant. Or better yet a 300cc two stroke motor.
@@Xeil true, but the problem is the whole thing is about as strong as a mountain bike. so if they went that big on HP they would need a totally different chassis that is more beefy, thus a lot heavier. check out their website. its a very light unit for what it is.
They need a 250 2 stroke and a seat option you need more power. Not fun if it's icy and ruts. Probably same as a snowbike. i would never buy one of these.. Maybe would be fun for your backyard with the kids. You could just as much fun on a 1975 Skidoo Elan with high handle bars as you could with these.
Looks to be an alternative, but not a primary. In the video it is used in very little snow and not much inclination. For just short transport here and there I can see the value given these must be inexpensive compared to the real deal. As someone else said I'd also like to see a 2-stroke instead because it could definitely need a bit more ooompff.
3 needed things or see it go away. 1) Bigger motor 400cc at least. 2) More fuel capacity 3hr ride is nothing. 3) A small seat that can be folded up or down. Long rides are going to take out many of your older riders and limit the machine to just in shape younger folks. Older folks have more money! 😉
The cottagers next to us bought 2 of these thinking they were the greatest things in the world we all took them for a ride they are so slow and underpowered as I'm concerned useless. Even the owners were not very impressed. His wife couldn't even ride it no sense of balance. I don't think they have been out since that weekend in early 2022.
Looks like fun, but at $7500, I can't see myself buying one. Seems like once you master the balance and control to the point that you could really flog it, the entire bike would quickly become underwhelming. As for being used for transportation in dense areas, this type of activity usually includes cargo or camping gear, and now you are relegated to a proper backpack for even the basics to camp out. In the end, it's a razor scooter for the snow... not much else.
Ive seen several videos on these now and the general consensus is that they'll be dead on arrival. Theyre only good for the lake or super shallow snow. Needs way more power.
I own one and I can confirm that you're way off bro! They're a blast in the off-trail, especially through tight trees. And it floats in deep snow. I own a 850 turbo for big mountain days but this is something completely different. LOVE MY WIDESCAPE!
Yeah, you obviously haven’t ridden one. They won’t climb like a sled, but they definitely will run awesome in bottomless snow. If drag racing across lakes, or straight-lining up a mountain is your bag, you probably won’t dig it. If tree riding or techincal sidehilling is your thing, you’ll love it.
Not sure what I think. I'm inclined to say it looks underpowered and overweight for what it is. BUT, having used to be a skater and teaching my kids to use their scooters, and not actually ever even touching one of these things, I bet this would be pretty fun and actually pretty useful to get around the yard at work or around your property during the winter.. I hope one of my rich friends buys one. LOL!
Did you try to jump it? You didn’t do any wheelies it looks really boring kinda like a moped. Just my opinion I wanna see some thrill and some danger in my life.
