SMU does have a great chance here. Being in Texas and already having Recruiting Ties there before the rest of the ACC gets their foot in the doro is a HUGE advantage. This especially in the age of the Portal where maybe some Texas kids LEFT the State to play in the Western SEC and the Out of State Big 12 might want to find their way back to Texas. And SMU is GAINING ACCESS to the 11 Other States of the ACC which includes Talent RIch Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, New York and California. Get just 1 player a year from those 5 States on average and that is a BOOST to 20% of the Roster. BUT... at the same time Louisville is on the Rise, Georgia Tech is on the Rise, Virginia Tech is on the Rise and they say Miami is too. And it should be NOTED that the ACC is NOT going to LOSE very many teams. FSU, UNC and most likely Clemson. After that everyone else is unlikely to Leave. Louisville is the 3rd Most Watched Football Brand and the Most Profitable Basketball Brand in the Nation. They make MORE off of BASKETBALL than all but about 20 schools make of of FOOTBALL. But they are not likely to get an SEC or B1G Invite unless BOTH are ready to jump to 24, and neither is. Notre Dame is STILL going to be part of the ACC Experience and so is Miami most likely along with both Tech's Ga and Va. If anyone else leaves it is Most Likely to be Virginia and who cares really. UVa is the MOST BORING Program in the Nation in every sport. PLUS... Who knows what will change in the recruiting of the former PAC 12 schools. The 4 in the Big 12 have LOST their Games IN and Against schools in California... which would be like Big 12 schools (Nebraska. Colorado etc) losing their Games in Texas. And the California schools have lost their Ties to all of the former PAC 12 States. They used to reach out across States lines into those States
I don't agree with your second paragraph. After FSU, UNC and Clemson leave the Big12 is very likely to take four of their choice. Teams like Louisville, Miami, and NCSt would love to combine their basketball brands with that of the Big12 and it would be a better football product than what the ACC would have without FSU, UNC, and Clemson. It sucks for SMU now that they are finally in a power conference but they will likely be left behind with Cal, Stanford, WF, BC, etc. in the ACC after the BIG, SEC and Big12 have all taken the teams they want.

Ask yourself the Questions that your Media are TOO INCOMPETENT to even think to ask. What Money does the Big 12 have to persuade ANY ACC teams to join it? It has none. Who in the Big 12 is it that ACC teams are desperate to play? There is NO ONE. What access to the Playoffs does the Big 12 have that the ACC does not have? It has no better access than the ACC. Name ONE LOGICAL REASON that ANY ACC team would LEAVE the ACC to join the BIg 12. There is NO SUCH REASON. Part of why you BELIEVE such NONSENSE is you have NO IDEA that everything you believe to be a FACT about the Financial Data of the ACC is a LIE. You do not even understand the Big 12's Financial Position ACCURATELY because your Media is INCOMPETENT. Does the Big 12 have a Conference Network? Does it have EASY Travel? What can it Offer? NOTHING. You level of TRUE INFORMATION is so lacking that you don;t know ANYTHING TRUE about the Future of the ACC. You don't even know that the SEC and B1G ARE NOT DONE taking Big 12 teams yet... but your INCOMPETENT MEDIA tells you they are. Here are some FACTS. Big 12 INCOME is already 2/3 the INCOME of the ACC and that GAP is going to GROW. Your INCOMPETENT MEDIA only ever Reports REVENUE which is money left over AFTER INCOME is collected and SPENDING is removed. 1st you get INCOME... let's use $100, then you have EXPENSES (or Spending) let's say $30, then you have REVENUE in this case $70. I ASK YOU... can you NAME ANYTHING LARGE that the Big 12 has been SPENDING MONEY ON RECENTLY? No. You can't. The ACC has been spending $16 MILLION per school per year to BUILD the ACC Network. Did you INCOMPETENT MEDIA every mention that to you? No. Because they are INCOMPETENT. So... just so you understand... YOU BELIEVE that Big 12 and ACC Revenue are about EQUAL... which is TRUE... but does not tell the WHOLE STORY. Big 12 is Collecting X INCOME Spending NOTHING and ending up with Z REVENUE. ACC is Collecting Y INCOME spending $16 Million EACH and ending up with Z REVENUE. Your INCOMPETENT MEDIA will not understand this until NEXT JUNE when ACC Revenue is UP by $16 Million per school. Your INCOMPETENT MEDIA will have NO ANSWERS for how that happened. To them it will be MAGIC. But NOW you know it is because of BASIC MATHS. FACTS. REALITY. Not OPINIONS that you agree with or not. And it does not end there. ACC Network Revenue will be UP by around $10 Million per school, per year starting Next year. And that LIE your INCOMPETENT MEDIA tells you about how the ACC TV Contract will pay Less MONEY after schools leave is TOTAL BS. The ACC TV Contract SAYS SPECIFICALLY that the TV Payout CANNOT DECREASE IN VALUE as long as the ACC meets the COMPOSITION CLAUSE. The COMPOSITION CLAUSE says all the ACC has to do to maintain its Contract Value is have 14 All Spots Teams. The COMPOSITION CLAUSE says it does not matter WHO those 14 teams ARE... it can be ENTIRELY NEW Teams as long as there ae at least 14. And while the Big 12 has no MONEY to bring in NEW TEAMS without if coming out of the Pockets of Current Teams that ACC has a Pro Rata Clause. That Pro Rata Clause authorizes the ACC to ADD as many schools as it NEEDS to satisfy the COMPOSITION CLAUSE. The ACC can add as many teams as it wants to have up to 20 All Sports Teams and ESPN will provide a FULL SHARE to all New Teams. You know NOTHING TRUE except what I just told you. FACTS don't care about your Feelings or your Opinions. Everything I have SAID is FACT, is HAPPENING and is COMING.
SMU is going to finish 7-5 or worse in this season and next season probably the same or a little better if go 4-8 or 5-7 this season then next season would be a winning season. But let’s be honest, the schedule is extremely easy and navigable for a winning season this year and next year. The ACC may be third P4 conference in revenue and 1st or 2nd in NCAA championships, but the football is lackluster.
Tell Mike, that after FSU and Clemson in past 20 years, there’s another team that has success in ACC before Clemson. 4 ACC championships in their first 7?years, and their coming back.
I’m very excited to see what happens!

Do you mean the school that cheated it’s way into dishonest championships?
So mow the rules are changed, SMU can rise again?
I was happy acc took smu to keep tcu incheck of recruiting. Lol
