God bless your soul, John Mayall ! I'm hoping your journey down that long country road has taken you to eternal Paradise Thank you for being a part of the sound track of my childhood, my teens and all my adult years.
This Stockholm concert was exactly 50 years after I first heard him play, at The Marquee in London’s Soho. John Mayall was a perfectionist to the end! ❤

89 years today and watching this performance from back in 2019 is mind blowing. Such a legacy and influence to blues music. The significant contribution John has made to blues is monumental....may he celebrate more years on the stage.
Play it John, The Godfather of the British Blues, I am glad that you are still here, i hope you live another 86 years, The Blues would be lost without you, Cousin Figel
@@bobmctague7104 An ignorant remark! This is a list of former members of the various incarnations of John's band - en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_John_Mayall_band_members#Former This is a legendary line-up going all the way back to a 19 year old Clapton, and 17 year old Mick Taylor. But probably the most important thing that John did, along with Alexis Korner, was to introduce the original blues-men and -women to a mainstream white audience in the UK via the radio. He then invited many of the old guys to the UK to tour. At the time the mainstream radio in the US would not play black music! The home of the free indeed! JOhn introduced a young audience to this music and the musicians. British touring bands then took them on as support and they got to play stadiums in the US which they would otherwise not have been allowed to. Remember this was in the 60's and early 70s, when Jim Crow was still in effect. There is a story of the Rolling Stones showing up to a hotel in Atlanta on their first tour with BB King and his band. King was refused entry, so they all moved to a Black owned hotel instead! Without this, history would have been very different. The Blues would have remained a niche music. Now it is not only mainstream in it's own right, but has been influencing all genres for 60 years. John, and his proteges, were a major factor in that. If you look through that list of his former band members you should not how many went on to huge fame and influence in their own right. The ripples spread out throughout music. An astonishing legacy which will live on for a very long time.
