The Element has what Salomon calls a Mud Contagrip®sole. If you run your finger over it the rubber feels like a slightly softer gripper compound than the longer lasting 4D All Terrain Contagrip®
To have a better review I think they should be worn for a few weeks to see if they can withstand the harsh environment and see which boots come off best.
@@teejay3272 I have now bought the Element ones and they are doing well so far, I have done over a hundred miles of steep mountain walking in all conditions even in the storms and my feet have kept dry and sore free and are very light to wear, the Welsh valley mountains are quite harsh and not to forgiving… So far they are doing well but time will tell as the mileage increases 🏴👍🏼
Thanks for your time on reviewing the boots. I'm confused on why you would call them a "Survival Boot" and for "Survival Situations" they are surely nothing more than hiking boots and you would clearly have to remove them at the end of the day. I feel that having tested them for a few months would have been a fairer review of them. Thanks again for your time
I like his reviews even if he don’t wear them and walk some hundred miles first. At the end I have to watch and read more reviews. As the “ultimate survival boot” I believe he likes to sleep with boots on as he maybe have frequent dreams on the Apocalypse where he is a super hero and just having boots on would allow him to save some seconds and go out running and save his life 😺
I looked at both boots but the bad reviews turn me off. I am very hard on boots and the fact that they cannot be resoled is a negative to me. I really like the Lowa Tibet GTX and the fact that it can be resoled and repaired by Lowa is a good thing. Hopefully you do a more in depth review on those.
Hi mate I know they are very different boots but what would be your pick between the element and the lowa renegade you reviewed? I saw on the renegade review you seemed to like the quest 4 more but do the elements seem as durable as the renegades.
Lots of revies online saying the sizing of the elements are all wrong compared to other Solomans and that they leak. I'll be going for the gtx 4 i think.
Great channel, must watch here before you buy any boot. Im going to Iceland & Norway this summer, need a boot. Ill go with Salomon. Now Im going to try out the Pioneer mid soon, but what do you think is better for that terrain, still cold over there and wet. Ultra 4 GTX, Element GTX, or Quest 4 GTX? I don't usually hike, use boots in bad NY weather, rather not spend $230, but I could if its needed.
Depends on what you are looking for. Personally, I would compromise protection and go with something super light and breathable, like a trail running shoe for a hot day in Arizona. Might want to go with something non-waterproof too, because it is more breathable. If rocky terrain involved, I'd go with something like an approach shoe, still light, but with stiffer outsole for better performance on rock.
Thanks for the great review as always. Do you think that the Element would be good for carrying the same weight in a pack as the Quest? Also, how do you find the element compares to the X Ultra 3 Mid and X Ultra 4 Mid? Be great to have a salomon shoot out! Cheers for your help, thanks
👎My Quest 4's front rubber tip, on toe box, started coming unglued on both boots during break-in period before even going on first hike. I've read many reviews stating that's common. But they are comfortable.
Same man!! Although it lasted for like 3 years for me with heavy backpacking, the durability isnt good on the front toe box rubber. I had to glue it before every trip and it was tiresome
I don't think the element has sold well. In Germany, the red ones are discounted down to 109 euros and the other colours 119 euro. Where I live in the UK the Quest 4 is popular selling at £139 GBP or £119 for the less popular tan colour with discount.
Hola weon. Soy extranjero que vive en Santiago. I want to start subiendo a los cerros and am planning a W-circuit hike at the end of March so I need something warm and durable. I was looking at the Ultra 4 and the Quest 4. Do you think the Element will be better? I will get a second pair of trail runners or something for summer.
@@mauriciochacon How often do you hike? I'm not a fanatic. For me, it'll be like cerros around Santiago once a month at most and then a multi-day camping trip once a year in different parts of Latam.

another great review, not! how can you have reviewed them and worn them, and yet the bottom rubber looks literally untouched? this isn't proper review, have you worn them in the terrains? and trekked through mud/lime/gravel at all? im guessing you just wear them in the garage, get some shots, and then return for refund
You’re funny. But the guy is trying to be entertains and showing personality while giving a review. You could frame it as constructive criticism but the comments comes off as just jealousy.

Thank you very much. I needed this comparison and now I know my best choice Is Element. Really helpful. 💪
I've never seen the bourdeaux red boot before. That looks... surprisingly nice. I usually don't like reddish colours on footwear, but this one I like.
Agree! I first saw it on Ultra 3 Mid GTX, wanted to get them, but they were out of stock everywhere, so I went with green.
Quest Element is perfect for winter time. This is best boots I ever have. very comfortable and stable

hi, after 4 months, what are your finally thoughts?
He died hiking in these. So no answer is coming.
Thanks for the comparison from Italy! 🇮🇹 Good Review!! 💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻
Thank you for watching!
I'm watching the whole video just cuz I dig this dudes accent!
lol thank you for watching!
I was thinking the same thing. I always love hearing perfect English spoken with a non-native accent. It's trippy.

in depth? I don't think that's his style, maybe not even a followup
Arch support is built into the boot?
very very nice review! now, I choice the element!

You should source HanWag Tatra II and Meindl (Borneo, Jersey Pro) boots for a review. The top of what Europe has to offer in terms of hiking.
Thank you for recommendation, I will try to get them!
miałem te HanWagi i muszę przyznać że są bardzo solidnie zrobione i wygodne, ale ze względu na ciężar u mnie się nie sprawdziły.
I got my actual shoe size and they’re fine.

what is the best boot for Arizona 120 degree temps ??

Nice review, thanks a lottttt.
Thanks for watching!
really need to step on a single rock with both and see if the sole feels the same
Thanks, great review
Which insoles would you reccomend for these boots? I have superfeet green on other footwear, but i find them surprisingly uncomfortable in these
its is can use for running too?
I was considering buying a Quest Element but being lighter with some comprises Which given the price I will give it a pass😖
Every 9ne says that is slepery in mug and rock with water. Anyone has experiences?

I destroy the quest 4 in just 2 months. The glue starts to fail. Basically less than a year of life at least here in chile andes.
