Good coverage and follow up! I've seen a few of those NS Mother/Slug pairs working yards on a few videos in yards in the southeast. Most of them were, as seen here, rebuilt from old SD's or GP's. Don't think i've seen them using any GE units for that purpose. Although wouldn't be surprised if they exist.
Thanks for the update. Looking at the switches with the lights and other wayside equipment next to them looks like the design of radio controlled switches and not controlled by the tower and that would make sense as to why they have had the two derailments at that location as it would be much easier to someone to accidentally throw them while a train is making a movement over them versus the tower with its interlocking technology that they would be using. Of course as I have not been to Inman Yard, it is pure speculation.
There's a ton of concrete ties up in Smyrna that look like they're intended to replace the wood ties there, but they've been there all summer. No clue how one would figure out when CSX plans to do the work, but it would be an interesting thing to witness. Caught GNRR doing tie replacement in downtown Canton a year or 2 ago which for a class 3 was interesting in and of itself.
That crossover appears to have a tight radius. The newer locomotives with six axles are naturally longer, almost like running an O gauge locomotive on tight O27 track. I never experienced a derailment in my 43 years of service, thank God.
Thanks for the Detailed info, Charlie! You have to Wonder 🤔 how many Employees of ? were Terminated after these two (2) Events. This Switch is “Trouble”. 🤪👎
if any were then the union should jump on this as it looks like track problems, not employee problems. interesting on a follow up on this section of track.
Love Your Videos Man! On that FRA Website, to they show soon to be new rail lines? I think Norfolk Southern or this other railroad (Kanawha River RR) are making an old line back to service. Do you think the FRA would have it listed on the web?

Thanks for letting us know what happened!
Thanks for the derailment clarification
Thank you for the update. Hate to see them off the rails but glad no injuries occurred

That's interesting. Not too many lines in the Southeast have concrete ties that I'm aware of.
Interesting and informative video, well done! 👍
How many derailments have happened at Inman yard this year?
NS: "Yes"
Saw the lashup with the old bnsf unit today in birmingham.
Great work, super video! Thumbs Up
All the best from Dublin
Andrew
Obviously there are some major issues with their crossover switches on that sloped area.
Couldn’t Agree with you more. 👍
Thanks for the update!
Thank you for the update!
Thanks for the update,
The reports I found said no injuries. That's impressive.
I've seen the updates you wrote. But i didn't understand a thing. Now i could understand it properly

Superb updates and clear information. I appreciate the fact that you do not venture an opinion until the facts are revealed.
Was 6217 repaired or its deemed a total loss due to fuel leakage?

Nice video!
Are derailments preventable? They happen from time to time.
Big yards have a lot of derailment just because of the number of cars and movements
I was just in Atlanta and 6 Flags
V12 is Pretty cool

I just love to watch Norfolk Southern derail pretty much every day and still call themselves "The safest railroad in the U.S.A."
Every class 1 details everyday.
@@ohboy2592 I know right! 😂
Just as I told you what had happened 🤷♂️
