UPDATE: There is a technical bulletin that was released by Land Rover that advises a gearbox software update. Main dealer installed update and problem has gone away. Issue seems to affect 2012 onward Freelander 2's (with signature headlights).

Hi - i dont think they do this update for free if your car is out of warranty - but if you get a service or other work done they may do this at the same time.

Did you have a gearbox software upgrade, and did you cure the clunk problem.

Ive got a 61 plate Sport LE that has done it a couple of times after ive been sat in traffic, did the update clear it ?
Yes the update cleared it totally - you need to get to Land Rover and get the auto neutral update done.... it will like a new car !
not sure you 61 plate has auto neutral.... i think it came in 2012... check with your dealer

Is the Automatic gearbox software update different to this update?
Will land rover update it for free? Do you recommend changing the oil on these sealed for life gearboxes?

I’ve the same problem, but unfortunately I couldn’t fix it.
Put in neutral when in traffic stopped this will solve the problem.
