Really cool collection. Lots of history there ! Thanks to John for taking the time to drive all the way to Arizona and thank you Matt for sharing your meeting.
While I love all your videos, this one is on another level, love the vintage mugs, so many stories from each one of them. Glad John drove them safely to you. This was a treat on Christmas Day:)🎄
This Christmas gift is much better than socks. I have always known that Matt knows about razors. That can sort of be acquired knowledge. This video shows that he is truly a shaving expert. Really cool knowledge between these two assets of the hobby.
What an awesome collection to acquire. Watching the unboxing of all these fabulous vintage items was a lot of fun. I'm looking forward to seeing you shave with the vintage travel straight razor, Matt. Merry Christmas.
This video has been one of my favorites. I like collecting vintage razors and barbering items, mugs and brushes rate high on my list. So watching the video I felt like a kid in a candy store. Have a great day.
One note re: WW2 era sets. Some were indeed issued. Philadelphia Quartermaster Depot (still exists as part of Defense Logistics Agency) contracted with a few (well, at least Gillette and Gem) to produce shaving kits for the military supply system. You'll find a variety of configurations, as manufacturers "Frankensteined" razors together from available bench stock, parkerized/coated them black and called it a day.
That was really cool. I have the Avon brush decanter, but I am still looking for the DE razor. John Kelly is my neighbor, it seems you have his mug. I was at an auction a couple of months ago and they had a couple dozen of those mugs and I brought money, but they ran out of time for the day, and never got to them when I was there. They were doing it again the next weekend, but I couldn't go. 😢 Yes I want to see the rolls razor in action. I have one too. But never had the 🥚🥚.
Matt, John, thank you. This is my favourite type of wet shaving video to watch. I absolutely loved watching. John thanks for sharing your collection. I own 5 Vintage Gillettes and 5 brushes so a very small collection. I really enjoyed watching. Happy Christmas and best wishes for the New Year, Best regards from Australia
Dear Matt, Merry Christmas to you, your esteemed family, and your hard-working co-workers at the Razor Emporium and REX Supply Co. I wish you all a very merry Christmas and a happy New Year with lots of health, happiness, and peace. And thanks a lot for this video. Cheers from EARAN (IRAN).
At 24:14 you can see the mug that I got for Christmas from my wife! It's the 4th from the left. Name is Mildridge. The symbol with the skull and crossbones is for the Knights of Pythias. You can see it again at 25:01 and 25:22 to the left of the giant yellow mug.
I have the Gillette Tech box with razor. Not as nice as yours, though. It's from 1953. It was my Dads. Also got a Rolls razor. I'd love to see a video on that. Just a side note. 7 days without incident. If I worked there, I would be cutting myself every day. 😂😂 Awesome video.
Thanks for the video Matt. Hey I was recently gifted a Parker 96r to wet shave with for the first time. I’ve heard you say Parker razors are aggressive and it’s giving me some irritation. I know there’s other variables but is it safe to say the razor is my main problem?
DE are better for cartridge razors? No, it is purely a matter of the politics of the markets that offer us ideology. We have become politicized and hate the choices of others not out of benefit but out of prejudice because we belong to another pack. The bottom line is that technology has displaced DEs as an obsolete genre and that we traditionalists are a slim minority who like all slim minorities hate the "system",,,,in this case symbolized by the now hated Gillette represents. If the technique and the appetite are given, Gillette cartridges are chaotically superior in everything combined with a good lubricant, be it cream or soap. The propaganda of the investors and the commercial movement of the neo-traditional is based on aggressive evangelical argumentation that invalidates every other modern option and which we are required to follow with religious reverence as a proselyte. I no longer follow the scheme from above, and each of us has the right to choose without invalidating the other's choice due to ideology.
Wow that's awesome collection, thanks for sharing this video, have a wonderful day eh
Thanks for the video love watching shaving history

I got so much respect for you for building such a great business, Matt.
Thx 🙏
Such a brilliant video; thanks Matt!
Great Video Matt, and that razor is nice and heavy. We need to find a great spot in the lobby to hang it. Merry Christmas, and here's to a great 25!
A lot of that should be in a protected museum type display. No dust, oils in the air and such. Very cool collection...
Nice collection. Thanks for sharing.

This is just a fantastic collection
Love these types of videos!
Seeing how you sharpen and use a Rolls Razor would be interesting. I've had one for 40 years but never used it. What a collection you now own!

Přeji Vám i Vaší rodině šťastné a veselé Vánoce.
I wish you and your family a happy and blessed Christmas.
This kind of giant display model of a STRAIGHT (CUT-THROAT) RAZOR is exactly one of those things I've always dreamed of having.
Was always puzzled what a barbers notch was for on a straight razor. Now I finally know!
Merry Christmas big man. What a cool video.
What great video , Matt !
Merry Christmas Matt!
I own a Rolls and have used it once. I’d love to see a video of you using one.
A Rolls Razor explainer and shave video would be epic. Merry Christmas.
Its like a gun store ot gift store😂❤
Thks Matt. Merry Christmass and God bless you and all crew.
Cheers❤
Just fun, THANKS!
The mug with the Italian flag with the cross in the middle corresponds to the Kingdom of Italy, prior to the proclamation of the republic in 1946.

I’m pretty sure the symbol you wondered about is from the Oddfellows lodge

Tidbit of unrelated knowledge: there was a Royal Navy captain in ww2 named “Manley Power”! Don’t know if he had flowers on his shaving mug. 🙂
AWESOME VIDEO GUYS! Now go shave with a Rolls Matt!
