    For the first time ever, the All Blacks aren't favourites for the Rugby World Cup. And yet, a perfectly-timed charge to win the Rugby Championship suggests perhaps they really should be. So why did the All Blacks underwhelm over the last few years, what have they put right, and can they go all the way in France this September?

      Rugby is probably one of if not the greatest sport on earth. The eer changing ranking of the teams mean that at any point in a world cup cycle, your team may be playing amazingly and if not, it'll probably change quite quickly. The simple fact that almost any game can go either way based on how the teams are playing on a given day and the history of the game are 3 amazing reasons to give rugby a good go.
      You are in a great position here, you have the opportunity of your first ever proper rugby experience to be a world cup (and possibly one of the most entertaining and unpredictable world cups yet). So if I were you, I would really just enjoy the rugby, find some people to watch and talk with while watching, and try and make it through the graining stage of learning and understanding all the laws which everyone who didn't grow up watching rugby has gone through.
      Welcome to one of the world's best sports.

    Growing up in New Zealand on in 2000s and 2010s was a privilege
    I grew up with an All Blacks team that never seemed to loose
    And if we did loose is was just about front page news every time
    But I’ll never forget my dad would tell me when he was growing up.. things were different
    We would struggle
    The bled would pass back and fourth across the Tasman
    The last time Australia won the bledisloe cup is was barely 2 years old
    We would go into World Cups as the favourites every time but every time come up short
    I grew up watching the all blacks win back to back world cups
    He would always tell me that one day the rest of the world will catch up
    They’ll watch our film
    Dissect our plays
    Mimic our routines
    And when they do we will have been on top for so long we we won’t be ready for the challenge
    Which is starting to show now
    I’m confident when it comes to world cups
    We’re still the team to beat
    But I’m nervous as the competition isn’t as easy as it once was

    The other big development for me in terms of the ABs is that they went from having a world class super settled 12 and 13 in Nonu and Smith to kind of blah for years. They’ve now got, in Jordie and Reiko, I think a 12:13 balance which really helps to knit the team together.

    • @memene0
      @memene0 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      yes, i agree with you, man do i miss Nonu and Smith they were probably the best combination of centers i ever saw playing the game. Barret and Ioane do look pretty good at the moment but they'll face some very impressives opponents: Danty/Fickou, Darlende/Am , Aki/Ringrose, or maybe Tuipulotu/Jones in an unexpected twist...

    Great channel and if I may say so myself great observation.
    Our style of play comes from only one place in New Zealand!
    The place and competition to watch is our very own Grassroots rugby!
    Our club rugby is our starters foundation with many of so many talented young player and trophies leading into our National Provincial Competition then as our rugby gets acknowledgement from the Provincial selectors the talent is split into the under 16s and under 20s competition to be catapulted into the All Black Colts and favourably The Super Rugby Franchises.
    The Ultimate Path is what the product you see in our Black Jersey.
    So as you can see the testing and trialing of everything you’ve just witnessed has been played on our paddocks for so many years.
    In closing!
    All I can say is!
    The whole world don’t LOVE the All Blacks!
    The whole world loves to beat the All Blacks.
    Keep up the great channel!

    Interesting view about the connection to the public, especially when the NZ Warriors in NRL seem to be packing them in at home games. Though that's with a caveat about their absence from NZ, as they had to stay in Aus the past few seasons, perhaps leading to greater fervour.

    My take is that Ireland and NZ have the best XVs on the planet, but France and SA have the best squads of 50. If nz and/or Ireland can avoid injuries or suspensions, they'll be very difficult to beat, but the attrition of the rwc will provide the French and Boks a great shot. Cannot wait for this tournament

    • @rorybessell8280
      @rorybessell8280 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Not sure I agree, an NZ A team would beat most sides in the world and all other A teams on paper I'd say. Only areas that are missing in depth are in the centres, scrum halves and maybe props. Otherwise, there are some seriously world class players who would make any side in the world who have been left out

    • @natnut2008
      @natnut2008 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      South Africa will need all their 50 after surviving Ireland, Scotland and Tonga week after week in Pool B. Whoever makes it out of Group B has the reward of meeting either France or NZ in the quarters. Doubt Ireland nor S Africa will have their full complement of 1st choice XV after Group B has completed their round robin.

    • @daratheprofessional1827
      @daratheprofessional1827 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @rorybessell8280 Is the A team not New Zealand Maori ? Munster second team have beaten them and the South Africa A team so its not that straightforward but the talent in New Zealand is absolutely ridiculous.

    • @rorybessell8280
      @rorybessell8280 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@daratheprofessional1827 Well firstly, no. The Māori All Blacks are exactly what they're called, a team of Māori people, not necessarily the second team as people will be eligible for NZ but not the MABs. I was also not meaning the actual A team, but a hypothetical second string XV seeing as we were talking about main squad depth

    All Blacks are in fact the favourites once again 3.5, France 4.0, South Africa 5.5, Ireland 5.5, Australia 11.0, England 12.0. AB's in the past have started the World Cup at better than evens 2.0 type odds, so they are less of a favourite is all. One of the top 4 sides will win but AB's are surely the most likely.
