Just got to the point you got the apartment, congrats! Otherwise I was going to mention (and for anyone else that runs into the no-vacancies issue) you can check other wards, and each ward also has a sub-ward, so there's technically 2 apartment buildings per ward that you can check. The sub-ward is the ~10 or so aetherytes under the divider line on each of the ward teleport screens.
oh wow, it was actually super cool to see someone go through this process. i've seen some people use those walls for photo shoots and stuff, gotta love the versatility!
Wow, I'm surprised you don't have a FC. If you created a discord, there would be a community of people that would be willing to not only make a FC for you and your partner but they'd probably also buy the house and decorate it for you.
I assume you're playing on PC? if that's the case you could also install re-shade and use a greenscreen shader to give you a green backround no matter where you are
