that was a cool time to "own both consoles". games were actually different between then. nothing better than getting two versions of a game you like.

What we need is a very clever developer to stitch these games together into one package "Super Mega Turrican" and release it on modern consoles.

@@nattila7713 I don't think RAMCARTGAMER meant a compilation featuring both games, more like merging them into a single game, which would make sense since they are cousin-like alternatives of most of the same concepts (shared graphics, shared levels, shared musics, shared basic concepts, etc). Or that's what I could figure out by the way it's exp

Yeah, The Snes version is kinda disappointing in comparison.
Never played on Genesis ..But i got many Fun in the past with the Super Nintendo Turrican.I liked that the Colours was so heavy Clutch but i see that Genesis got different Level Design.
@@marcellammer852 yeah I like the difference in the level design... It's just instantaneous feel-good run n' gun action. Where as the Super Nintendo one feels more open.. like an adventure game. Which is cool too. But I prefer the Genesis... Just my style.
Kind of akin to the differences in the feel/gameplay of Super Castlevania IV v. Bloodlines...
I love Super Castlevania IV too but for me that fast-paced arcade action is where it's always been at. Just pick it up and play... Care about the story later. The hook is addicting enough for all that stuff to not matter till afterwards.. which is why I love the Genesis.
But still definitely need a Super Nintendo to compliment it's library... Cuz let's be honest: You're not really experiencing the whole 16-bit era- if ya ain't got both! Haha
Both have amazing libraries that easily bounce off one another very nicely. The exclusives for both are also so enticing that how could you not want to not have both... Ya just need both!
@@ajsingh4545 that's how I feel.. I look at it and get bored too quickly where as the Genesis one keeps me hooked till the end. But still a welcome addition to my SNES library, for sure! Most of the SNES games like that are most likely getting backlogged till I got nothing better to do... Either way, I still haven't beaten Mega Turrican yet, so.. but definitely like it better in comparison.
I guess I always liked the neon cybernetic/flashy colors the Genesis was known to use a lot as well in comparison to the dry dull-colored wasteland your plopped in first thing on the SNES. Sometimes colors paled in comparison to a console that was conceived as so bright and poppy (because 'for kids') But I've seen instances (such as this) where the Genesis did it brighter (surprisingly) Phantom 2040 for example.

@@rickydamian5095 Won't make them low quality samples any crispier I'm afraid. And also, if that wouldn't be bad enough, the snes even adds a filter to blur the sound even more.
The snes version is an old favorite of mine. The MD version look incredible too. I would've totally loved to get my hands on it back in the day. That first level music always kicks the nostalgia into gear.

I'm not gonna pick one, they are my favourite 16-bit console games. Probably because I grew up with Turrican and Turrican II on the C64 and then the Amiga, this is my favourite series of all times.
if you mean Turrican 3 vs Mega Turrican, the Mega Drive game has more graphic details. But other than that they are both equally enjoyable. Said that, I like Turrican 3/Mega Turrican better than the first two (that are great nonetheless).

Não conhecia esse jogo, achei bem dinâmico, muito legal a comparação. Continue fazendo essas comparações, seu canal é show. Parabéns. Não percebi se na versão de Mega Drive tinha vozes.
Eu sinto falta de quando os jogos eram adaptados ao potencial de cada console. Dava motivo pra se jogar as duas versões. Aladin, Mogli, Jurassic Park, X-Men e Judge Dredd por exemplo eu fiz o que pode pra jogar tanto no Super Nintendo quanto no Mega Drive
verdade amigo, lembro quando eu tinha o Playstation e jogava Missão impossível, quando comprei o N64 e joguei o mesmo jogo, era outro nível de qualidade de imagem, passei a possuir os dois consoles, porem missão impossível eu so jogava no N64 como 007 tbm, mesma sensação era com Resident Evil 2.

Isso sim é um vídeo de qualidade,acho incrível este vídeo de comparação do mesmo jogo porém diferente,na época as desenvolvedoras poderiam ter feito isso com todos os jogos,assim teríamos o melhor que cada console poderia oferecer.

I'm amazed how similar both versions are in graphics, gameplay AND sound. They both seem like excellent games!
Mega tem cenários mais detalhados, enquanto Snes faz bom uso de cores nos mesmos, principalmente no degradê laranja no céu;
Mega tem boa quantidade de vozes, enquanto no Snes, apesar de menor quantidade, são um pouco mais vivas;
A jogabilidade e as fases são diferentes, sendo dois jogos muito bons que se complementam.
Los colores son más realistas en la versión de Genesis. La versión de SNES abusa de degradés. En algunas situaciones es lo único que hay....

Mega Turrican! They're different games, so a direct comparison isn't possible, but anyway, I prefer the Sega rendition! :)

Genesis does shooters better
Nope. Sega Fanboys always like to claim that, but it just isn't backed up with evidence. The SNES has better shooters of every kind from run 'n' guns like Turrican and Contra, space shooters like Axelay and Space Megaforce, and unique games like Wild Guns. Sorry.
Mega Turrican is a great game, but it never rose to the heights of Super Turrican and Super Turrican 2. The levels don't allow for as much exploration as Super Turrican and they aren't as well designed or varied as Super Turrican 2's more straight forward design.

Everything on the megadrive is better with the exception of the soundtrack which is very close!
Also I love the rotation effects on the MD, that was some real wizardry by the devs.

Presumably, the usual 320x224 on the MD vs. 256x224 on the SNES.

Nope. I've played all three games plenty of times and while they are all good, Mega Turrican is definitely the weakest. The graphics, audio, control, and overall gameplay aren't quite as good on the Genesis. Still good though.:)
The Genesis version is a must have.

O mais legal do Mega Drive e Super Nintendo é que tem jogos com o mesmo nome mas são diferentes. Ai faz sentido jogar as 2 versões.

@@Kaio1000 more animation in Sprites, for example the shots you can all see the fluidity of the movement, in the enemies there are rotations and scaling of many Sprites at the same time (Snes can only one at a time); the background graphics there are many details drawn and they also add effects in Snes is only horizon; and about the design of the labyrinth it is noted that Snes almost all the time is running to the right and in MD I have seen more exploration and the mandatory use of the tractor rope to advance ... it could be more detailed about small things but the biggest is that MD its colors in RBG look brilliant and far superior; It is obvious that in its time the Snes looked spectacular with Composite cable from the old TVs and that is why it was designed that way but in RGB which is a standard still used in digital and HD signal to watch a game with a Blur simulator. Another thing that could determine is that Mega Turrican decided to port Amiga as officially in Turrican 3 and the chronological version of the franchise is exactly that of MD.

I have and enjoy both versions. But I've got to tell you Sega's Genesis really impresses mid to late in its lifespan. It's still getting releases to this day. Check out Xeno Crisis, amazing!

O jogo é tão diferente que poderia facilmente ter nomes diferentes. Gosto do áudio do mega que da uma sensação de ação, a do SNES é igualmente boa porém da sensação de aventura. Curti os dois , gostei um pouco mais do level design do Mega, mas ambos os jogos me divertiria tranquilamente.

A introdução no Mega Drive é simplesmente fantástica, mas em questão de gameplay e músicas eu prefiro mais a versão de SNES mesmo.

@@miriamalmeida6687 Antes de escrever bobagem jogue as versões. A versão do mega tem mais efeitos nos cenários. A versão do snes alguns chefes tem o mode 7 mas o fundo fica sem cenário, ja o mega tem efeitos semelhantes tendo cenário de fundo. Mais armas e habilidade diferente. A versão do mega tem 15 chefes contra apenas 4 no snes. Variações melhores de fases, mais musicas, mais efeitos sonoros e vozes. E sim a tela tem uma resolução maior com um campo de tela maior. O jogo não é so a primeira fase como mostra neste video. A versão do snes não é ruim. Mas não adianta negar que ela apenas disse uma verdade em dizer que a jogabilidade e a resolução é melhor.
The md is more like a remake. The characters From the intro really needs to be redesigned :p This versions are nice, I know that the snes version use a 4mbits rom by economy.

Ai veio o Super Turrican 2 como também a versão espíritual do turrican o incrível Rendering Ranger R2 ambos para o Snes, esses 2 simplesmente foi humilhando tudo que tinha pela frente nesse género naquela época...
I got both games so I'm just gonna say both are good though I do had to say if you want to play a Metroid game that doesn't process in the same Metroidvania style way then these Turrican games are basically just that.
Wow. There are a few fast games on the SNES that perform very well even with a slower, or mainly more complicated architecture/CPU but Super Turrican is definitely one of them! Factor 5 knew how to handle the console. Not surprised Mega Turrican runs so well though the Mega Drive was built for run’n’guns and shmups and it looks beautiful.

Aunque prefiero la versión de SEGA por tener más cantidad de acción en pantalla y por ser un tanto más rápido que la versión de Super Nintendo; Sin lugar a dudas ambas versiones se lucen pues ambos juegos están muy bien echos, ya que hasta las músicas están muy bien echas para las dos consolas.
Y claro que le jugaría sin dudar a las versiones de este juego.

Its kind of hard to compare them, as they're not actually the same game, but since the SNES uses sampled instruments, you get setting closer to what you'd hear on the Amiga than you would on the Genesis.
Nah... Actually, Genesis version is one of the best ost's on the console... Moreover Genesis is a complete game... Have you seen that bad dude in the intro... That dude never appears on the game on snes! Great music, great graphics, many many bosses, the final boss is included... Genesis version beats Snes hands down...

These comparisons would be so much better if you played one audio source at a time. One doesn't always want to use headphones. Even with headphones it's a mess because both console audios are playing simultaneously. It's like blending two images on top of each other.
Dois jogos top .snes mais bem produzido com mais efeitos visuais e Dolly. Mega mais simples porém tão bom quanto. Ambos nota 10.

They have a lot of features in common, they are not so different as one may think. I deem them as similar yet alternative takes of the same design plan that was probably conceived for both titles around the same time, rather than two completely different games, which they aren't. Heck, they even share pretty much the same Alien levels.

São Dois games incríveis!! O som do Mega drive é muito bom, totalmente fora do padrão, pois fazer som no mega é muito mais difícil que no SNES devido a Tecnologia... Precisa de artistas e nem todo jogo tem um Yuzo koshiro disponível kkkk ... Mas o cara do Mega Turricam é bom também em!! kkkk!!! Resolução: Mega Drive (utiliza o modo H40, 320x224).
Jogabilidade: Acho o Mega Turrican um pouco mais difícil, Super Nintendo nessa.
Na vdd é o contrario, o super turrican q é mais dificil, pra vc matar os inimigos vc precisa atirar mais, a resolução atrapalha, e o flash n mata todos os inimigos do cenário ao contrario do mega
@@saniquinho10 Também achei o Super Turrican mais difícil, mas não por causa de resolução. Aliás, pessoal adora falar de resolução hoje em dia, mas na época, isso nem fazia muita diferença. O Super Turrican é mais difícil porque como você disse, os inimigos são mais robustos e fase do Alien é bem chatinha também. Tem uma parte final lá do trem que você tem que pular no limite pra não cair, é bem difícil.
@@renatobhcity3687 A resolução fazia diferença, os gráficos do Mega Drive, apesar de menos coloridos e com pontilhamentos, eram mais definidos e de melhor definição. O Super Nintendo, mesmo mais colorido, era mais embaçado e serrilhado nas bordas, e os pontilhamentos (se tivesse) eram mais visíveis, os quadradinhos (pois a resolução baixa deixava mais visível).

Dois bons jogos. Particularmente gosto muito de Super Turrican, mas Mega Turrican não fica atrás. Penso no Mega Turrican como uma "sequencia" de Super Turrican
Mega Turrican foi desenvolvido primeiro para o Mega Drive. Depois para o Amiga, e finalmente para o snes. O problema foi que a Factor 5 não conseguia publisher para o jogo, até encontrar a data east.

The decision was easy for me. I got both versions.
Não são jogos top de linha desses consoles, mas valem a pena jogar. Eu achei o Super Turrican um pouco mais difícil de zerar, o que não é necesariamente uma vantagem ou desvantagem, apenas mais dífícil. No entanto, gostei mais do level design do Mega Turrican. No geral eu devo ter gostado mais do Mega Turrican, mas ambos são bons.
Más jefes. Más niveles. La mano retractil, voces y mucho más hace que la versión de Mega Drive sea la mejor

Altough I've played the Super Turrican a lot, I have to admit: The game is more complete compared to SNES, the shot types are more useful, the bombs are more powerful, have one extra level, more voiceovers, and the music ... ah, the musics ... these drums are a-ma-zing, like real drums !
Mega Turrican is unfortunately missing the most useful weapon that Super Turrican has and that is the freeze beam. Mega Turrican's grappling hook is unfortunately a clunky mess too, unlike the awesome grappling hook in Super Turrican 2. All three games are great but Mega Turrican is definitely the weakest of the three overall.
And the winner is... AMIGA!

Mega turrican and turrican 3 for Amiga are the Same. Super turrican is a complete different Game on its own and there is also super turrican 2.

i dont really get the side by side on this one . they where completely different games. the snes one was essentially turrican 2. and the MD one was turrican 3. lol.
Despite some of the settings and enemies being more like Turrican 2's, Super Turrican is absolutely it's own game. If they are going to compare totally different entries in the same series they should have included Super Turrican 2 as well.

No mega a fase dos Aliens é superior até mais q na versão do Amiga, ambas as versões nesse caso são dignas, mas no Snes está com desafio final cortado, pra mim o Mega ganha por ser idêntica ao Amiga.

the megadrive version is much better, the adventure is more fun, more epic, the music is much cooler, it is more punchy and the bass is better, the gameplay is more interesting and successful thanks to the grapple in particular, the colors and the themes of the levels are much more immersive and exude a much darker and darker atmosphere. Mega turrican is a mega masterpiece, Super turrican is just great but not mega.

Different games and maybe Mega Turrican (AKA Turrican 3) has the edge.
But Super Turrican part 2 destroys them all,just amazing.
Sure, they may be "different" games, but in many aspects they are like sister versions/variations of the same initial design premise. They even shared a same exact set of levels (the Alien ones). Wouldn't be surprised if the Mega Drive would have received a sister Mega Turrican 2 to Super Turrican 2 that shared pretty much the same design premises but again doing things differently. I reckon this wasn't done because of all the release problems that Mega Turrican faced compared to Super Turrican.
@@WeskerSega I think its the same situation with TMNT Turtles in Time and Hyperstone Heist. Very similar but different games in the end.
@@vasileios6301 Exactly. I regard The Hyperstone Heist as a sister version of Turtles in Time by the same reason/logic. See that neither of these two platforms have the "two different games" at the same time, just a single one of them? That explains pretty much why.
Super Turrican 2 is no Turrican anymore.
@@turrican4d599 For me it's a perfect sequel to Mega Turrican, much more than it supposedly is to Super Turrican in fact. It should have been Mega Turrican 2 on the Mega Drive and Turrican 4 on the Amiga, had the game been released on those platforms too.
