One of the very first coins in my collection was a 1943S Nickel I found in change. It stood out as being different with the gray color and the big S mint mark. That was in the 1970's when I was a kid. I'm now 55 and have a huge collection of all denominations.

What if the 1943 nickel had a p in between the end of the date and the man instead of having it above the house is that normal?

I have a nickel at 19:43 with the S on top. I have 2 of those.
I've got it. See my pic . Its a 4.85 gram copper nickel. I bought the real one and did drop test. It does not knick. This is the real deal. I will liquidate it to serious buyer. I need $$$ . This nickel is cool. Has its own color size and hardness. It has lamination error on reverse too. Its a wicked coin. Stands out of nickels instantly.
I have one P mark and does not look silver at all, it has goldish tint, and i just found doubling on the front that i did not notice and i have had it for years

Today I got lucky to get some minimum change back at a local food shop and there was a nickle that the moment I noticed it, it felt heavier and different so I decided to bounce it on a flat surface and it sounded a little more pure than the rest. I now can confirm by this video that its a 1943 - S without the full steps which you said it was sold at over 1k to 3k. The steps on the back are smooth like I can tell the steps were never engraved. Where can I go with this coin to change it for money?

I have 1943 five cents nickel. I have seen many videos of this coin. What I am amaze my coin has no mint mark. And it weight 4.85 grams. It seems to me this coin has no silver content. Or this coin produce in early part of 1942. I know this coin is a one in a million error coin. Thanks if anyone read my story. I was aware of the full steps. How much they sell for I wasn't. I've actually got a '45 I may now consider getting graded.

It's either in a very high grade or replated.
Bought a 1943 D MS65 FS at a coin shop 2 minutes from my house. Whoever graded it or sent it in for grading didn't mention it has doubling and titled lettering . It has gold toning and railroad rim NGC I paid 12 dollars. I think I should resend it for grading and check the error boxes. Thanks J & B.
