    When I was younger it blew my mind that people had to draw every frame of movement I saw in cartoons. I could barely draw the same thing twice so I thought it impossible for multiple people to do the same. Eventually I accepted the talent involved in animation, but learning how each animator differs when animating the same thing is a whole other level of mind blown.

      @MageBurger yh like some filter or an effect where they record someone and do something with the cameras to make them seem animated sadly this is not the case and ppl literally has to sit dow and draw every single frame. Look at Ghost in the Shell.

    Your nerd level is off the charts. I'm amazed. It had honestly never occurred to me that you might be able to recognize individual animator's contributions within and anime. Watching you break this down is great.

      Most of the time is rather easy actually, but it also depends on the series and characters' designs, the more detail and complexity of the character drawn, easier it is to know who animated the shot.

    Fans should not expect future Shonen series adaptations to look like OPM season 1. This was a one-time dream project by director Shingo Natsume that will never be replicated again probably. The fact that he got so many of the top talents in the industry to come work on one project is unprecedented. The ongoing season 2 of OPM should not be ridiculed simply because it's not the same staff. It's an unfair comparison. It's an unfair comparison for any series of the genre.

    A comment on youtube always stayed with me - that the first season was lightning in a bottle. It really does seem like exactly the right people came to work on exactly the right project at exactly the right time. It simply might never be possible to reproduce that level of quality, but my god they need these people back for Season 3 and beyond.

    The thing I love most about your channel is how you explain (in under 10 minutes) why something we already loved experiencing the first time deserves so much more appreciation and your ability to break down a shot that lasts one second on screen and demonstrate what exactly makes the shot worth marveling over. You literally act as a multiplier for shows we love to make us love them even more. Bravo dude!

    Also, 3:25 is not Yoshimichi Kameda and I accidentally left his credit up and didn't notice it, it is actually animated by new talent, Toya Ooshima.
    EDIT: The video now has closed captions for those that require them. (Unfortunately, they do cover up the animator credits.)

    since each scene is about a diferent character and a diferent context, having so many animators with their own styles make each scene something new, and if the style is all about the key element of the scene, it gets better, now imagine a show when this was true for all its runtime (at least for the first season, havent checked season 2 much yet)

    the different between western animators and eastern animators, is that the eastern animators creates the inconsistency of each of episode of flawless and superb artwork for each episode, allowing animator to have that freedom to use their own unique animation and implementing it to the episode, so that it flows along with the story, wheras western episodes are quite more consistent since it could be made by the same animators, rather than have people coming in and out of companies to do etc. brilliant work

    I can't rave about OPM's animation enough. I've watched the show 5 or 6 times, full marathon style, JUST because it was a beautiful thing to behold. Also because Genos is adorable. Oda's work in episode 1 just really stands out like a sore thumb though. It looks too different from everything else. The scene of the giant brother punching the ground was so weird that I had to explain to my family (whom I forced to watch some of this show) that the rest of the series would not look like that.

    This is why I think Madhouse would do an AWESOME JOB with Dragon Ball Super, why not them and Toei Animation team up?

      @William Schlass but madhouse was still responsible for this perfect animation by hiring all these legends.

      @@rengokukyoujuro3750 lol no, the director had a lot of connections, so he brought lots of freelancers and animators from Bones(he is from Bones too). Look at overlord, it was done by the animators from the studio with almost no help from outside and the end result was shitty animation.

      so 100k+ a episode XD its no wonder they are really picky about what they produce.
      thinking about Destiny and the 500 million production cost it had lol...despite not being impressive at all.

    Great video, love to see more people taking an interest in sakuga. Although, I have to call you out on one mistake. The amazing background animation cut at 3:26 is not Kameda, its actually a newcomer Toya Oshima. It was confirmed on twitter, as you can see in the comments here: sakuga.yshi.org/post/show/18827/animated-background_animation-debris-effects-fight

    can anyone tell me how much fps one punch man use 24, 30 or 60. sorry my english

    • @TheCanipaEffect
      @TheCanipaEffect  8 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      None of them. It's published at 24fps, but the actual frame rate varies within this. In animation, it's regarded as "1s, 2s, 3s", so "1s" involves animating every frame (24fps) and 2s involves animating every second frame.
      The reason "fps" isn't used in anime is because it fluctuates between these rates, based on the motion and can do so within a second. So, it might be that Saitama stands up on 1s, punches on 2s and the bad guy flies back on 4s. The amount of drawings is heavily dependent on the type of action.

    • @xKouhai
      @xKouhai 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      It would generally be in something like 23,976 FPS but as Canipa said. It varies heavily

      +theMoporter sakuga.yshi.org/ is a brilliant source. Madhouse also put some cuts on their website (That's where the "genga" or in-process animation is from) and some animators mention which cuts they did on Twitter.
