The most special thing in this video was the shaking hands at the beginning!!! 😂😂😂 My man BB telling it like it is! I see Woodford DO at Costco for $36.99 (when you buy two), how can they sell it so cheap!
Dang. I’m about to cry. I got a pursuit united double oaks store pick that was selling out fast. I thought I got a good one, but after this video, I may just try to exchange it for Woodford double oak or old Forester 1910.
Haha well if you expect double oak flavor it’s a disappointment if you want like a caramel bomb and don’t expect double oak flavors it can be good but it’s not at all like normal double oak offerings you can tell by the color it’s light as can be
I’m not a double oak guy but the rye’s and bourbons are fantastic from Pursuit United and around 65. Which is a buy all day for me. I don’t look for 2XO ever. Just not something I’m looking for at that price.
Yeah haven’t tried their other offerings. Maybe their double oak vision doesn’t match mine if I ever come across a sample of their other stuff but I’m not running out to spend money on their stuff after this showing
Yeah not sure why it’s so hyped other than TH-camrs trying to hype a fellow podcast group. There isn’t anything special about it should be better for a double oak
You're killing me BB, I just picked up a pursuit double oak this afternoon. It sounds like I should have picked up a backup sagamore double oak instead and saved $10. I heard good things about pursuit and I saw the double oak on the shelf for the first time.
@bourbonbill I'll keep it and try it. I've only had woodford DO, sagamore DO, and 1910. I just saw Mash and drums review, and he said the same thing about it not having the deeper oak flavors but still had positive things to say. I'll give it a try since it's something different, and I enjoy bourbons for the unique experiences.
@bourbonbill I agree. This was pretty disappointing. On the nose, it was great. On the palette, it was almost exactly like the FWGS Makers Mark Fall 2023 release. I've been disappointed with more bourbons above $60 than any other price range.
Appreciate your honesty here, I want to love 2XO, I really do, he needs to make a banger. My next Pursuit will be the BJunkies pick arriving tomorrow. So let's go Woodford DO vs Peerless vs 1910 Old Fo?
@@bourbonbill I have been wanting the Peerless Do and DO rye, can't get toasted but I would if I could. I tried to get the BevMo WR DO store pick but they sold out before I could grab one, still looking for a good store pick Woodford DO.
@@ehtater, Small sample size but, of the handful of WRDO store picks I've seen reviewed, about 25% are *worse* than the standard non-store pick! And, separately, I've heard a lot of WRDO store picks are over-oaked. I don't even buy standard WRDO so I've passed on two store picks so far this year. One was $80 (and I didn't check the price on the other). I picked up a Peerless DO Bourbon but haven't tried it yet.
Great review Bill I almost pulled the trigger on the Pursuit double oaked. I'm not impressed with their whiskey and also not impressed with 2XO. They're solid offerings but 100 is a lot for what they are. Dixon is a master blender but he also had Kentucky Owl behind him. Now it's most likely wilderness he is sourcing from. The gem bottles at 199 are literally a rip off. I would also throw in premier drams with their overpriced 7 year whiskey at 199-220. The whole industry is getting to be gimmicky. Give me russels reserve store picks or rare breed or ECBP and also ECBP picks.
Absolutely couldn’t agree more. The 2x0 gem is a ripoff and the normal releases at 100 are just too expensive. The pursuit united just meh it wasn’t special really in anyway and a double oak should be
I’m slowly becoming a double oak snob . I’m starting to lean more into double oaks than other bourbons . Hey Bourbon Bill you ever try BARREL BANDIT DOUBLE OAK HAZMAT , only sold in Jersey so delicious but one wrong sip 🥵
@@bourbonbill not at all I’m going back and grabbing 2 more ,the lower proof barrel bandit at 122.0 finished in a second barrel of 4 roses is really good as well
Did you hear about that WhiskeyTube channel that just came out with a video where they're trying to start a viral video among other channels? What they did is they mentioned six WhiskeyTube channels that they watch and then challenged those channels to make a response video telling everyone what channels *they* watch. It's only been a day and a few of the channels they mentioned have already responded that they will take them up on the challenge.
@@bourbonbill, I've come across a couple channels now that have taken up the challenge of sharing *their* favorite channels. They've asked viewers to Comment what channels the viewer would recommend. I've taken that opportunity to recommend a few of my favorites in the Comments section. 😉
I was seconds from buying the Pursuit DO from Seelbachs yesterday. I absolutely love the Pursuit United bourbon (batch 7cc) and have a backup. Will be seeing them in Kentucky next week. After Jason's stellar "dusty" review, I really wanted the DO. But after your review, I'll probably just stay put and enjoy Woodford and Startlight DO. Both excellent and priced at around 60 locally.
Yeah i mean it’s not horrible but it’s not what a double oak should taste like I mean the color is all you need to know it’s the lightest double oak I’ve ever seen
Just saw Jason’s double oak live last night he put the pursuit united dead last and then tried to say how good it was I think he doesn’t want to hurt those guys feelings but the truth came out haha
@@d3kc1w I tried it in Kentucky. It is nice and you will enjoy it. Just please approach it like any other good bourbon and not a double oaked product. Our mind plays tricks on us, so if you go in expecting a profile like Woodford DO, you will be immediately disappointed.
