@@AiMiE ikr, I love how the world became a chessboard playing game between him and Jin GuangYao! It's like the author just chose the WWX and LWJ characters among the many mobs to better suite her taste and genre style of writing. This makes the novel more vivid and lifelike, it is somehow a change of taste to those many novels with manipulating characters as their protagonist. This also amounts to the whole mystery and keeps the readers guessing about the events, eventually shocked upon realization. To tell the truth, I actually didn't expect the famous head-shaker to be the one to initiate the entire scenario...

the thing is - he wasn't faking his personality in the early series. he genuinely never wanted to be sect heir, he never wanted to fight evil, he just wanted to be silly with his friends and play with his birds and avoid sabre practice.
jin guangyao forced him to become this when he killed huaisang's da-ge, because if there's one thing that define's the nie family, it is that they *will* make sure justice is served. If nie huaisang couldn't avenge his brother using physical strength, then he would literally bend heaven and earth to deal justice through other means...
