    Love the exterior color, stained (not painted) woodwork, saved wallpaper in the closets, copper gutters, and most of all, the child’s wallpaper panel!!!

    That house is full of personality! I love all the unique little touches like the sewing machine features in the bathroom, that copper gutter and the peek through of the wall paper. That front door is stunning also. Well done!

    Very unique, lots of hard work. My fav was the piece of wallpaper saved and framed. My daughter lives in Erie. Longmont has some cool old houses.

    Wow!!! I want to do that in Flint, MI. The streets a filled with beautiful abandoned ( or unoccupied.....for a loooooooooooooong time) homes. I am renting a refurbished home now, but I long for the day that I find my perfect project!!! Thank you for sharing!

    • @PoppasCottage
      @PoppasCottage  7 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      I love the beautiful old houses across the midwest, where I grew up. In fact, even though this house is in Colorado, Longmont was founded by a group of people from Chicago, so the old neighborhoods here have a midwestern feel. I think it would be great if blighted neighborhoods in places like Milwaukee and Detroit and Flint could be refurbished to be affordable housing. There should be grants and programs for people who want to do this. I wish you the best of luck in finding your perfect project. Check back in when you do.

    It's so nice to see someone that remodels an older home (using original wood work & working with the stain) instead of remuddling it to make it modern. Some houses weren't made to be modern. You saw the houses character and worked with it. Beautiful job.

    Love those copper gutters! I would be afraid though that some dipshit would steal them.. At first I didn't care much for the "yellow" but after watching it a second and third time I really like it! I think you've done a great job on this beautiful place!! Hope you will enjoy it for many years to come!!!

    That house looks EXACTLY like my family's old house in north eastern Indiana! Built around 1907. Must have been built from the same plans. The window size and placement is the same, the whole outside of the house is the same! When it was built, it was the town "bordello".

    The snow and train going by while snowing looked amazing, I could really feel that house then. I bet when its not in that so perfect stetting, that train is probably annoying as shit.

    • @PoppasCottage
      @PoppasCottage  7 ปีที่แล้ว +13

      Yep, the train can be annoying, but most people that live around here say they get used to it.

    • @gtguy181
      @gtguy181 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I guess depends on how frequent the train comes through. I lived a 1/16th mile from some tracks, mustve come through every hr. If its once a day, I wouldnt see it that bad. But its loud, thats for sure.

    Love the detail on the water closet door...what a neat touch! My husband and I have been renovating a 1897 farmhouse in MO for about 2 years now, and it's been a fun project. With three kids, it'll probably be another ten years before we're done, lol! I love all the history we uncover every time we move into a new room to begin a new project. Thanks for sharing your renovation journey. ~Laura @ Teal House Farm

    Totally not my business, but my husband and I are thinking about renovating an old house too. We are contractors and would be doing most of the work ourselves.
    Really curious how much a reno of this size costed. I like how you sourced unique pieces from the second hand store. Love the work you've done, has a steampunk feel. Would you do it again?

    • @PoppasCottage
      @PoppasCottage  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      We put about $80,000 into it in the first renovation (we have since finished the basement and done work on the landscaping). That includes my labor, but I also had help from a few friends charging me a very low rate. I will certainly do more remodel projects in the future, as well as building from the bottom up.
