Seeing this video was literally the reason I decided to buy my first harmonica when I was sixteen. Eight years on, Jesu Joy of Desiring is literally my favourite piece to perform :) That William Tell is still decades away though, i think ;)
I love this guy. His talent is awesome. Such a simple, looked down on, country instrument. I cant play a simple scale. Yet he can make such awesome music on it. There are many great harmonica players. Buddy is one of, if not the greatest, players.

THAT is virtuoso playing and, for me, the ability to play CONTINUOUSLY without ANY pause for a breath is astounding! I understand it is accomplished by using something called 'circular breathing'; the effect is mind-blowing (no pun intended)!
That talent is not given it is earned 3 hours of understanding listening working and finally becoming great anything that good text not only talent but I love and dedication

THOSE were nothing short of Tour du Force renditions on a SINGLE harmonica! His breathing (circular?) was completely non-stop throughout each selection and his EXTREME range in the 'Lone Ranger Theme' was spectacular.....BRAVO Buddy!
umm- while buddy is good, he is one of thousands of extremely talented diatonic harmonica players who are JUST as good. all you have to do is look for them on youtube. there are also brilliant chromatic harmonica players: toots thielemans (who died a couple of years ago), stevie wonder, larry adler and his brother jerry, Robert bonfiglio who has played with countless symphony orchestras around the world., will galison, michal adler, risa minami, Hermine deurloo. Charlie McCoy was so much faster than buddy greene (and well-known for decades) - and in fact they played together onstage at the annual spah (harmonica) convention a few years ago. there is no single 'god' of all harmonica players...but there are countless wonderful harmonica players who go unnoticed by the general public. want to see 'fast'? try googling Jason Ricci. ;)
Nearly as good as the late great Larry Adler who made the harmonica sing beautifully, long before this chap. But its nice to know others are continuing with this little gem of a musical instrument Thank You

Harmonica produces sound while blowing out as well as drawing in, so breathing is more manageable... still challenging though.

Harp players never get considered musicians. They're the lead guy with the band who nobody thinks should get paid / a free drink etc .
